I had to go put on a jumper

I’m wearing a shirt dress and tights. AIBU to expect better weather in May? It’s been the coldest Spring ever, off the back of a long, freezing Winter.

😑

I can’t believe it’s may and here in the Midlands we haven’t had one day yet where you can go out in a T-shirt! Hopefully it means a long hot summer once it gets going!

BashfulClam · 06/05/2023 10:51

It’s cold in Scotland. I was born in May and it snowed so cold weather is not unusual. Remember ‘never cast a cloot till May is oot’

PinkLemonadee · 06/05/2023 10:55

Yeah, it's absolutely roasting..

I had to go put on a jumper

Its warm here! South east - all windows open - its the average temperature at the moment for May - lets not wish our seasons away! - to be honest I prefer fresher cool weather as last year it was unbearable!

I'm in Brighton and it's freezing 🥶

AllTheChaos · 06/05/2023 11:12

Ne’er cast clout and all that! Sitting under a blanket with a hot water bottle, bah!

Didtheythough · 06/05/2023 11:19

Its FREEZING in the south west and my phone keeps showing me photos of "on this day" in previous Mays of the kids in shorts eating ice lollies under an parasol to shade then them the heat.

IBlinkThereforeIAm · 06/05/2023 11:28

My kids keep asking when we can get the oaddling pool out again! 🤣 I suppose at the moment it would fill itself without using a hose... but they'd probably end up with hypothermia.

Applesinmyhouse · 06/05/2023 11:30

This time last year I was wearing a dress.

I’ve got a blanket over my legs now lol. Might give up and put my pyjamas and dressing gown back on.

It is definitely cold for May.
12 degrees and raining here in the Midlands.

I can't wait for a few days of warmer, and dry weather.

anunlikelyseahorse · 06/05/2023 14:25

Bapbap45 · 06/05/2023 10:07

Agree that May can still be changeable but I think that this weather really is dragging out. Its kind of low-level crap all the time.

Perfectly put.

QueenBitch666 · 06/05/2023 14:29

Cheshire here. Pissing down, forecast for the week is pissing down. I'm so behind with my gardening. Not out off trousers, jumpers and socks since last year

Ilovetocrochet · 06/05/2023 15:12

Well, other than tomorrow, the next 14 days on the BBC forecast for Manchester is rain! It might be a bit warmer, up to 15°, but will be pretty miserable if it rains for most of May!

My heating is set at 18° still and is coming on for a few hours each morning but not in the evening - when my most feels cold and I need a blanket around me when watching tv.

I keep thinking about the early heatwave we had during the first lockdown in 2020, sat on the patio reading, lots of gardening, chatting to neighbours over the fence!

Bunnichick · 06/05/2023 15:14

It's warm here. I'm wearing a t shirt and I'm usually cold.

TheUsualChaos · 06/05/2023 15:14

YANBU. It's shite. Just about to go out for a walk in pretty much the same clothes I wore in January

Babyroobs · 06/05/2023 15:15

East midlands here and it seems a bit humid, it may just be me but I'm ghere with windows opena nd in a t-shirt.

NashvilleQueen · 06/05/2023 15:19

Really struggling with it here as well. North west. Biting winds and lots of rain. We had one day when it was warmish but not ever hot and properly sunny

Strugglingtodomybest · 06/05/2023 15:20

I'm in Cornwall. We have had the back door open all day and the upstairs windows open. I'm wearing a merino wool vest t-shirt, jeans and flip-flops. It feels pleasantly warm to me.

MereDintofPandiculation · 06/05/2023 15:23

Yorkshire. Sunny with cloudy interludes. I’m wearing sandals with bare legs

katemulberrybush · 06/05/2023 15:25

We have had extremes. Snow; drought/heat wave and a biblical levels of rain

The garden is confused as fuck

Ah well as long as all you Southerners are happy that's okay then🤣🤣. Nobody's wishing the seasons away, just for some actual Spring weather.

I'm in the South East and yes it was lovely this morning.

I was cleaning my kitchen and had the door to the garden open. Unfortunately, that ended late morning and it's been teeming rain since.

I've been sitting here all afternoon waiting for it to stop so I can take my poor bored dog for a walk; we don't mind a bit of rain on our walks but it's been biblical so far.

SadCelticBunny · 06/05/2023 16:23

It is absolutely freezing here in South Wales , I need to get my Oodie and fluffy socks while I watch Matilda.
I was hoping to be in the garden but it's raining for the 4th day in a row.

IBlinkThereforeIAm · 06/05/2023 18:25

@Mojoj I am in the south east. Still rubbish!!

Bluevelvetsofa · 06/05/2023 18:30

It’s not warm in my bit of the south east. We’re supposed to be in a micro climate and I’m frozen and it’s 13 degrees. Winter was long and miserable. Spring is just being extension of winter. Enough now!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 06/05/2023 22:49

Went for a walk past a dam today ( in the pissing rain) it was fuller than I’ve ever seen it. Yet in summer it was like a small puddle in a dust basin. So it’s rained an awful lot.
