Flaunting bras in summer dresses

Is this a current trend? Over the last couple of weeks, I've seen dozens of women wearing dresses that show their bras. Not just straps but strapless or low-backed dresses with a giant M&S boulder holder with the straps, top of the front, and most of the back showing. Back in my day, I never saw anyone dressing like that. Has this become the new standard, or am I simply experiencing an odd fashion phenomenon?

They aren't flaunting their bras, they just aren't concealing them.

Wouldn't be my choice, but then I'm sure my Nana would've been horrified that I don't conceal a vest top. These things evolve and are also very individual.

I think if someone likes a dress, and showing their bra allows them to wear it, then more power to them. I certainly couldn't go braless and it's annoying when that restricts the clothes I can wear.

The back of the bra is just strap too surely?

personally I would ensure the cup is covered but if someone else is comfy with a bit of it showing then it’s hardly them flaunting anything

'Flaunting' 🤣

Yet another case of women simply having bodies and being judged.

OhmygodDont · 03/05/2023 18:32

I mean of the many things I see in summer a bra strap is the least of my worries 😅

Should women not wear clothes that they like just because they have big boobs? I mean he ain’t forbid they also show some ankle too aye 😉

Mutabiliss · 03/05/2023 18:32

Flaunting? Are you the Daily Mail?

Women wear bras. Sometimes the clothes they choose to wear don't fully cover the bras. No big deal.

LadyFlumpalot · 03/05/2023 18:33

I tend to wear front clasping bras with pretty lace backs or straps so I definitely flaunt them under my summer dresses 🤣

BookishBabe · 03/05/2023 18:33

I don't think I've worn a bra in about 8 years. And I wear plenty of backless and plunging summer dresses.
Is that better or worse?

I just wear what I want to and what I feel comfy in.

Krabappel · 03/05/2023 18:34

I don't think it's judgement, it's just seen as a fashion faux pas to have a showing bra strap on a dress

If anything going brakes would be not revealing, so it's about how it looks rather than showing too much

Right?

I wouldn't even notice either way

Sissynova · 03/05/2023 18:34

I’ve seen dozens of women wearing dresses that show their bras.

The horror. A bra in the wild.

LeFeu · 03/05/2023 18:35

Flaunting 🤦‍♀️

Are men flaunting their nipples when they go topless??? Of course not. Have a word with yourself.

bloodywhitecat · 03/05/2023 18:35

What is the problem with seeing a bra? It is just a piece of clothing and lots of them are quite pretty so why do they need to be hidden away?

FiddleLeaf · 03/05/2023 18:35

I love to flaunt

AlrightJulia · 03/05/2023 18:36

"giant M&S boulder holder"....well aren't you a delight OP

5128gap · 03/05/2023 18:36

We flaunted our bras in the 90s too! Not M&S white ones, proper flaunting ones, colour matched to our strappy tops with diamanté straps, designed to flaunt to our hearts content. And don't get me started on the flaunting we did with our thongs!

monotonemusings · 03/05/2023 18:37

Hahaha "flaunting"

ShanghaiDiva · 03/05/2023 18:42

flaunting- FFS
the verb you are looking for is ‘wearing’

Ringmaster27 · 03/05/2023 18:43

Christ, we can’t win can we?
Wear a bra that happens to show a bit, it’s flaunting your underwear.
Wear a summer dress with no bra and someone will be offended by the existence of nipples.
🤨🤨👍🏻

Skybluepinky · 03/05/2023 18:45

really 😂

Puzzledanddissatisfied · 03/05/2023 18:46

I agree with you OP. The amount of bras on show today. And the amount with their ankles out too. I’m positive some weren’t even married to the men they were with. Disgusting.

Clarinet1 · 03/05/2023 18:46

Personally I think a bit of lace edging can look quite pretty; stained/washed out/torn elastic, not so much.

Or we will have nipples that are down to our belly buttons and tutting that we need a proper M&S shoulder boulder bra too 😂

oviraptor21 · 03/05/2023 18:47

I'm just boggled how anyone can wear the completely strapless dresses and look good in them with or without a bra.
Without a bra - saggy look unless very young or very flat chested
With a strapless bra - see above as none can actually hoick your boobs up to where they would be with a bra with shoulder straps.

DurhamDurham · 03/05/2023 18:47

Pretend it's a bikini top and stop worrying/wondering about it Grin

countrygirl99 · 03/05/2023 18:48

It does rather depend whether it's thousand wash grey or "fresh"

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/05/2023 18:48

I probably wouldn't use the word flaunting. Are you regretting that bit yet OP? 😂but I know what you mean. I personally wouldn't wear a dress where you could see my bra. May be an age thing, I'm over 60?
