To wish it was seen as the most beautiful thing ever to be super overweight

Okay I know I am being because health but I am sat here really bloody hungry because I need to lose weight and I've had my morning 300 cals and it's just miserable. Heroin chic thin was in and I feel like if a BMI of 26/27/28 was seen as the pinnacle of beauty life would be lovely and I could eat what I wanted. Eating delicious food is such a source of joy and life would just be so much better if it was without guilt.

Don't worry, I know this isn't sensible realistically (even though we're potentially going that way) just dreaming because I really really want something delicious and filling for my lunch and I can't have it.

Yep. this is my BMI at about 35
Bike pic unposed but baggy top so not much use!

There’s no way you have a bmi of 35 on those pics - or did you mean age 35?

Youve gone wrong there somewhere!

Botw1 · 30/04/2023 12:08

Also most slim people aren't healthy either so it really shouldn't be about looks

I don't really get this, aside from the heightened risk for certain conditions from being overweight the mere act of carrying excess fat on your body puts it under strain. Perhaps we will evolve one day now the majority of people overeat and aren't active enough, but human bodies aren't designed to continuously carry this additional weight. Presuming someone isn't underweight someone who is slim won't have that additional health burden.

silverlentils · 30/04/2023 14:09

A BMI of 26/27/28 is not 'very overweight'

It's overweight yes, but it's not so overweight that it isn't aesthetic.

CrystalCoco · 30/04/2023 14:11

You just need to move to a country where 'overweight' IS seen as attractive and then you'll be sorted - well, apart from your health that is 😜

Tbh 300 cal for breakfast isn't particularly starving oneself

I would not feel comfortable making this statement simply based on breakfast.
Seeing as it depends on the level of activity and what she eats during the rest of the day.

Let's say somebody with 300 kcal breakfast also eats:
400 kcal lunch
400 kcal in the evening
050 kcal snack

That would be obviously be very little.

Kyse · 30/04/2023 14:18

@Iltakethat no, my BMI is 35

I was judging purely breakfast. That is usually the smallest meal isn't it?

Breakfast is a main meal for me and usually not the smallest.

breakfast like a queen/king used to be the conventional wisdom, wasn't it?

Yes 😂
But Queen/King didn't have to rush to get a bus to work😂

@Businessflake

On the basis that looks dont determine health?

Slim people could eat a really unhealthy diet.

They could smoke

They could take drugs

They could have cancer or any other illness/disease

They could do no exercise.

They could starve themselves

Theycould be unhealthy in any number of ways because you can't know a person's health's status by looking at them

Yup.

To my surprise as someone who is constantly striving for a healthy BMI, I’ve learnt health and weight aren’t synonymous and don’t have the huge correlation we’ve been led to believe.

NorthernLights5 · 30/04/2023 14:35

I really really want something delicious and filling for my lunch and I can't have it. Why can't you? There are plenty of delicious and filling yet healthy foods. What are you currently eating and what do you class as "delicious"?

Follow

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 30/04/2023 14:42

Fair enough. 😂
but couldn't the issue of time be used in regards to any large meal during any time of the day?

evening = no time to cook, needing to collect children from the minder, put them to bed, clean up after everyone etc?

Anyhow, breakfast is obviously not enough to make any kind of definitive judgement.

CarpeDiemCarpeDontem · 30/04/2023 14:50

Delicious and filling is pretty subjective it seems. I know when dieting (regardless of whether posters think OP needs to or not) I rarely have a filling meal because the calories just aren’t there - and no I’m not having 1200 a day. For example, I see people say porridge is so filling and lasts them all morning but it barely lasts me 1 hour before I’m hungry again. Same with salads, even with nice toppings, it’s not what I would consider delicious or filling!

Watchkeys · 30/04/2023 14:56

Why do your morning kcals have to be 300, @weeducky ? How many do you eat in a day?

Coyoacan · 30/04/2023 14:56

I think he is absolutely gorgeous, but he died young because of bad health.

I am old and do my best to look after my health because I want to continue to have quality of life. If it means that I can't eat stuff I've always loved, I still have the memories.

There is lots of delicious food that is healthy. Try to mostly eat food that isn't processed.

To go from 25.5 to 25? Or 24?

I doubt it.

No. To go from her normal BMI of 22 to current BMI of 25.5, as per the post I was quoting.

LightlySearedontheRealityGrill · 30/04/2023 14:57

Dieting sucks for sure. But with a BMI of 25, it's a bit disordered to say you can't eat what you want for lunch. You don't want to, because you would rather be slim. Might as well own it.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 30/04/2023 15:01

I think it’s awful that people are being nasty to the OP because her BMI is 25. As a member of the “Friends generation” OP, I totally get how you feel. I never feel thin enough even with a BMI of 21, I know I’m objectively not fat but I feel it even when I’m half a stone over my normal weight. I’m also short so it does show and my clothes feel uncomfortable. Plus some people suit being smaller and some suit being bigger.

ASGIRC · 30/04/2023 15:25

Jonei · 30/04/2023 12:10

Generally healthier than extremely overweight people I would think.

Actually, no. Being underweight is much more unhealthy than being overweight, in general.

By underweight, I dont mean slim. You can be slim and not underweight.

It is much more dangerous to be severely underweight, than to be severely overweight.
We see severely overweight people out and about all the time.
Severely underweight people are in hospital, fighting for their lives.

Tiddler39 · 30/04/2023 15:26

Why on Earth can’t you have something delicious and filling for your lunch and still lose weight?

There are plenty of foods that are delicious and also good for you.

Ridiculous.

Tiddler39 · 30/04/2023 15:41

JeepersCreeperrs · 30/04/2023 13:50

If you give up the junk and eat real food, you’ll realise junk isn’t delicious at all.

ABSOLUTELY this.

People have got so used to eating shit in this country that they’ve forgotten how delicious real food is and how gross processed food actually tastes.

HotMummaSummer · 30/04/2023 15:46

My BMI is currently 27/28 and I don't feel great. I think I just need to get comfortable with feeling hunger sometimes.
I'm currently trying Slimpod, which is supposed to speak to your subconscious so less effort than actual dieting. Fingers crossed it works, I've only been doing it for a week but feel like I'm eating less.
