To wish it was seen as the most beautiful thing ever to be super overweight

Okay I know I am being because health but I am sat here really bloody hungry because I need to lose weight and I've had my morning 300 cals and it's just miserable. Heroin chic thin was in and I feel like if a BMI of 26/27/28 was seen as the pinnacle of beauty life would be lovely and I could eat what I wanted. Eating delicious food is such a source of joy and life would just be so much better if it was without guilt.

Don't worry, I know this isn't sensible realistically (even though we're potentially going that way) just dreaming because I really really want something delicious and filling for my lunch and I can't have it.

stay strong!

Iwantmyoldnameback · 30/04/2023 12:03

At a loss as to why anyone thinks you are unreasonable.

Botw1 · 30/04/2023 12:04

Meh.

If you're trying to lose weight to fit in with a enforced beauty aesthetic you don't agree with, you'll never lose weight.

Yes, being very over weight is unhealthy so if you want to lose weight think of your health. Not your looks.

Ace56 · 30/04/2023 12:04

If you are over or underweight then you are unhealthy - it’s not just about our perceptions of beauty! Well done for trying to lose the weight OP, just see it as something to make your body healthier rather than something to ‘look good’

Hairday · 30/04/2023 12:05

In some countries it is seen as beautiful. Skinny is ugly in those places.

DriedFlowersLiveForever · 30/04/2023 12:05

I agree, food is so easily accessible and it feels like a losing battle most days!

ComtesseDeSpair · 30/04/2023 12:06

Assuming you are not unhappy with your weight in itself and it isn’t affecting your health, at some point, you have to take an individual decision about whether or not you want to be seen as conventionally attractive by some people, or whether you’d prefer to eat less restrictively and feel happier, despite some people not finding you attractive.

Jonei · 30/04/2023 12:06

It's about health not looks, surely.

AllOfThemWitches · 30/04/2023 12:07

Even slim people won't be stereotypically 'beautiful' forever. I'm 34 and hate the fine lines on my face. There will always be something.

RudsyFarmer · 30/04/2023 12:07

My willpower currently is a wardrobe of clothes that mostly don’t fit me 🤬. Only 1.5 stone until I’m back to the weight I was pre covid 🤬🤬

Botw1 · 30/04/2023 12:08

Also most slim people aren't healthy either so it really shouldn't be about looks

ComtesseDeSpair · 30/04/2023 12:09

However, you can also have delicious food without it being very high in calories. A healthy diet needs to be a lifestyle, not something you ensure just to lose weight, and you won’t keep weight off long term unless you establish a good diet that you actually enjoy eating.

Phineyj · 30/04/2023 12:09

All you need is a time machine to take you back a couple of hundred years. A trip to the National Gallery always cheers me up. Go look at those Rubens.

Although maybe stay away from the Lucien Freuds 😂.

weeducky · 30/04/2023 12:09

My BMI is 25.5. Usually I'm at about 22 and still feel miserable but gained weight due to a considerably shit year causing insane stress. For me it's 100% about looks. I know it shouldn't be, but growing up with Cosmopolitan and 'fat' Bridget Jones will do that to you.

Generally healthier than extremely overweight people I would think.

Heroicallyfound · 30/04/2023 12:10

If you’re not eating something delicious and filling for lunch, your diet is as much disordered eating as your norm. You’re allowed to have delicious, nourishing, filling food.

CatchYouOnTheFlippetyFlop · 30/04/2023 12:10

I was super overweight and am now just overweight, but I am getting there.

I've lost 3 stone (another 2 to go), and I feel so so much better for it health wise.

My knees were causing me agony and the relief that that pain has almost gone has been worth sticking to a diet.

Well I say 'diet', I've just been eating in a calorie deficit and doing 10k steps a day.

I have denied myself nothing as long as it's in my weekly allowance.

You can do this and your body will thank you for it.

Wtf?

You said you were very overweight?!

Botw1 · 30/04/2023 12:12

@Jonei

Maybe.

But thats not the point

Sorry no I meant it would be nice if being overweight was fashionable. I am a bit overweight but not very.

If your BMI is 25.5 you don't need to sit there hungry. You're being ridiculous, talking about very overweight.

Deadpalm · 30/04/2023 12:14

When someone says super overweight I think obese+Confused

good news for you, curves, actual ones so top bmi, bottom of overweight range are absolutely fine and in. Big bums and all that!

PamDoooove · 30/04/2023 12:15

Frankly OP this a bit insulting to people who really are overweight and obese and have a lot to lose. Think you have issues about eating that need addressing before any 'diet'.

Botw1 · 30/04/2023 12:16

@weeducky

With a bmi just over the threshold I'd hardly say you were over weight.

What will you do when you age?

Iwantmyoldnameback · 30/04/2023 12:18

I'm sorry I replied so quickly now. Stop being so self centered and attention seeking. I'm changing my vote!
