To think boys shouldn’t go in to men’s toilets???

Scotlandma · 27/04/2023 22:05

This is hypothetical I seen another post about someone not letting their 9 year old use mens public bathrooms

what age do other people let their children go in to toilets on their own?

and how do you navigate them using the disabled toilets if not?? I’d be so worried in case someone actually disabled needed them

If you don't feel there are suitable facilities, then campaign. Obviously you're either going to have to stop going to that place or they'll have to wait to go somewhere where there's a facility you deem suitable, which is not the women's.
The answer is not the women's toilets, boys 8+ have no place there. Regardless about whether or not you feel the men's is suitable. Sen or immaturity are also irrelevant. Those things doesn't make it okay for them to use the women's. There are vulnerable male adults too, they don't belong in the women's either.

Why don't you campaign? Or is this just the responsibility of mothers of sons?

I disagree with your position, and don't think there's anything obvious about it. It's a decision that has to take into account the child's needs, level of maturity and any other relevant factors that need to be weighed up in the moment.

Unless you're 2ft tall and eye level with crotches, you'd have to actively look down and around to see a dick.

Maybe you shouldn't be allowed in the men's bathroom after all.

Thank you for excusing me 😅

BadNomad · 28/04/2023 19:34

You seem to think your only options are risking them with perverts alone in the men's bathroom, or taking them into the women's. Why can't you go into the men's bathroom with them? That is the bathroom assigned to them. I'm sure men will understand that boy children are too young to use the bathroom on their own.

I've answered this question already, way back on the thread, and won't repeat myself.

Would once be okay then?

It is for young girls getting assaulted, apparently.

BadNomad · 28/04/2023 20:23

It's no wonder there are so many perverts around when there are so many mothers willing to enable boys to tread over people's boundaries. Imagine how special it must feel to be allowed into places you're not supposed to be because mummy says you're more important than everyone else.

Not sure what you mean here? No child, male or female, should be put in a situation where they're vulnerable to predatory, opportunistic, adults, if it can possibly be avoided. There are many potential risky situations. We must seek to minimise the risk wherever we can.

Or maybe those mother's have been victims of sexual assault themselves and want to protect their young children from the same.

CellophaneFlower · 28/04/2023 20:05

I'd prefer not to see them, thanks.

You don't need to. If your male child is 8 and over he can go in by himself.

BadNomad · 28/04/2023 20:33

That's most women. Most women have been a victim of sexual assault at one time or another in their lives at the hands of men who believe they are entitled to do what they want to women.

I have a son. I'm not campaigning for separate spaces when there's already a male toilet he can go to.

BadNomad · 28/04/2023 20:36

Like I said earlier, these men don't hatch from eggs. They are raised from birth like everyone else. If you don't teach them young how to follow rules and respect others, then you're part of what contributes to them become what they are.

BashfulClam · 28/04/2023 20:36

The problem is these issues always be one women’s problem and we have to put up bc d shut up deal with longer queues etc as mothers wrestle their young children and themselves in a cubicle.

Jonei · 28/04/2023 20:33

No he can't. As he'd need my permission and I'm not giving it.

8state · 28/04/2023 19:42

I'm not sure adults are allowed to use opposite sex toilets? It's different for children, but for an adult to do it may be illegal?

Trans can use the bathrooms that they feel most comfortable in. So technically you can.
Its also not against the law anyway.

Jonei · 28/04/2023 20:39

CellophaneFlower · 28/04/2023 20:37

It must be hell living your life in such a heightened state of anxiety. Imagine how much worse that will feel when your male child ends up on tik tok for being way too old to be in the womens toilets.

fitzwilliamdarcy · 28/04/2023 20:39

CellophaneFlower · 28/04/2023 20:05

The incredible irony of this when you and others have spent pages dismissing the feelings of 8 year old girls because boys’ safety is more important. Apparently not important enough to override your preferences and comfort. Just girl children.

Which is what exactly, oh wise one?

8state · 28/04/2023 20:40

@YouCouldHaveKnockedMeDownWithAFeather I am not trans?! But are you saying it is not against the law for a non trans adult to use opposite sex toilets?

I have a son too. I'm not campaigning either. He will use the women's loos, with me accompanying him, for as long as I deem he needs safeguarding.

toddlermom99 · 28/04/2023 20:42

I will take my son in the disabled toilets until he's old enough to go alone but if not then he'd come in the womens with me.

8state · 28/04/2023 20:42

@BadNomad I imagine adult males who carry out assaults probably had parents who didn't give a crap what happened to them, in public toilets or elsewhere.

My sons do not have their body parts out as they're in a cubicle. As I assume most young girls would be.

Well if all it takes is a self declaration, then clearly any male can go in the women's toilets. These days it actually feels like the men's toilets are safer.

YouCouldHaveKnockedMeDownWithAFeather · 28/04/2023 20:43

Why do people on here have to start resorting to insults.
It proves nothing.@Jonei for example.
