Just as the subject says, I’ve watched nearly all of them on Netflix. Really could do with some more suggestions. Thank you 😊

Severance even!

SlurpSlooChortle · 28/04/2023 10:24

All of these suggestions are great. I recently enjoyed Smile.

Escapetothecatshome · 28/04/2023 10:25

Rose red

Actual horror movie - V/H/S (especially the first one, and especially "Amateur Night"). Life-ruining not-a-horror - Threads.

EmpressSoleil · 28/04/2023 12:57

I also wouldn't recommend "a serbian film" it's just sick and disturbing. I did make the mistake of watching it a few years ago and what has been seen cannot be unseen. And I've watched all the hostel films, human centipede films etc. They're not the same thing.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 28/04/2023 13:13

Another vote for Train to Busan. Utterly brilliant.

StupidFaces · 28/04/2023 13:16

Oh yeah, human centipede 2 … if you’ve got the stomach for it 😂

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 28/04/2023 13:18

Oh I just can’t watch anything involving torture, gore or sexual abuse. I prefer atmosphere in a horror and a sense of approaching dread 😬.

Recently watched a found footage film, Horror in the High Desert 2 which I found quite chilling, kind of a little like The Poughkeepsie Tapes, (I’d watched the first Horror in the High Desert, which is a little slow and with obviously amateur actors, but with a very unnerving finale). As a big horror fan I thought this low budget film was very effective.

Mumto1boyo · 28/04/2023 13:21

Cropsey, dead silence, fear.com

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 28/04/2023 13:30

There’s a new horror, The Outwaters due to be released in the UK soon, hopefully which is supposed to be utterly chilling. About 4 people on a hike in the Mojave Desert. I love any horror set in the America’s wilderness.

RonObvious · 28/04/2023 13:45

"A Tale of Two Sisters" - it's a South Korean film, and really unsettling. The original Pet Semetary is pretty creepy. Some of the Masters of Horror series are really good - in particular, John Carpenter's "Cigarette Burns" really spooked me.

Scissorcollector · 28/04/2023 13:51

The Terrifier - it’s about a clown, also ‘All Hallows’ eve’ which the character comes from originally
paranormal activity
the ring
the grudge
candyman
jeepers creepers
signs

ALongHardWinter · 28/04/2023 14:41

There was a film called 'Creep',set in the London Underground that I really liked. It was released in 2004,not to be confused with the film that was released in 2018,that goes by the same name.

Another vote for Paranormal Activity.

And don't ever watch the original (non-Hollywood) version of The Vanishing. Just don't ever watch it.

The original Dutch movie The Vanishing ( Spoorloos ) is absolutely terrifying.
The American remake abysmal

A Serbian Film.

Not for the faint hearted 😳

updin · 28/04/2023 15:35

I couldn't even finish reading the Wiki page for The Serbian Film, what the actual fuck!

I had the misfortune of watching some of it about two years ago, naively not actually knowing much about it. It still haunts me to this day. I turned it off & I would never watch it again. That’s a film that definitely should be banned 😓

It’s ages since I saw it, but an old B&W French one, Les Diaboliques, is worth a watch!

Excellent film 👌
Very creepy

Thanks for this amazing thread. I’ve got the house to myself for the weekend (VERY rare) so I’m going to watch Eden Lake with a glass of wine (or three). 🧡

Oh Eden Lake, which I really liked, reminds me of another British film I saw. Mum and Dad. Apparently very loosely based on Fred and Rose West. It's quite a shocker. But it's the whole setting of such horror in British suburbia that makes it scarey.

C1N1C · 28/04/2023 17:22

If you're into a more sci-fi version of Saw, try Cube. Three films.

Thanks, I was trying to remember the name of that one. I saw the original years ago & yes, it's one of those that stays with you. And it has no violence in it, IIRC. I'd say watch it, it's an incredible movie.

Coffeeandbourbons · 28/04/2023 17:30

You’ve all made me want to watch Eden lake now! Is it like wrong turn or the hills have eyes?

thenightsky · 28/04/2023 17:54

I'm a hard core, hard to shock horror fan, but Eden Lake really freaked me out. Its the 'realness' of it. You could see something like that actually happening if you come across the wrong people at the wrong time.
