Just as the subject says, I’ve watched nearly all of them on Netflix. Really could do with some more suggestions. Thank you 😊

I’m watching Lake Mungo. Slightly spooky because it seems so real.

That's a good one! What's on the phone terrified me! Good twists and turns too.

What about Kingdom (2 seasons and a special) on Netflix? Period drama crossed with zombies, and fabulous hats.

This one

Oh my god, I saw this years ago and it's always stuck in my mind! Horrible little film!

DejaVoodoo · 02/05/2023 22:09

Haven't yet RTFT, but OMG yes to La Cabina!
I saw it on TV round about 1979 when I was 10!
Freaked me right out.

Exorcism of Emily rose. Only film that scares the absolute shit out of me, the actress was phenomenal! Her facial expressions/voice just terrify me

I highly recommend 'Creep' from 2004 (there are a few movies called Creep). It's a British/German horror set in the London underground. Really good.

Omg I had completely forgotten about this film! I agree, it is really good. Going to have to dig it out.

I remember the first time I watched this.. I was so scared I had to sleep with the light on for weeks. The real story is about a girl called analeise micheal and the real audio from the exorcism is in YouTube.

I’m defo not googling that! 😂 I knew it was based on true events but I can’t bring myself
to look. Film was brilliant though, did what it was intended to do and scared me to death lol.

IrregularChoiceFan · 02/05/2023 22:21

The Fourth Kind randomly really scared me and I'm not usually bothered by alien films. Something about that one though, eurgh still hate owls.

Citadel8 · 02/05/2023 22:30

The original Halloween scared the shit out of me. I was only about 12 when I watched it though!

Others…..

Nightmare on Elm Street

Saw

The Exorcist

Texas Chainsaw Massacre original

Friday the 13th

Blair Witch Project

Alien

The Omen

Jeepers Creepers

American Werewolf on London

Killing Ground - Australian Horror film (2016); echoes of Wolf Creek, but only in that the villains are pretty relentless and psychopathic. Good build up of fear and no happy ending. All the more frightening because mostly in broad daylight.

The original bbc adaptation of The Woman in Black

completely ruined Christmas of 1989

DeadButDelicious · 03/05/2023 05:34

The original bbc version of Oh Whistle And I'll Come To You is terrifying as well!

If you like theatre there is a guy called Nunkie who tells M R James ghost stories whist dressed as M R James. Usually in small venues as it's all by candle light. Bloody excellent! I've seen him a few times now and always enjoy it.

This sounds like my kind of film. I find things like Wolf Creek far scarier than the paranormal.

Not strictly a horror for the most part but more horrific than most of the above, Hunter Hunter is one that really gets under the skin. Well acted and slowly building in tension.

Which Martyrs? There's two, one from 2008 subtitled, and one from 2015 English 😊

I'd definitely recommend the original French version from 2008. Never bothered watching the American remake but from what I've heard it's really watered down (no surprise there).

Excellent 😁 Watched La Cabina, Piggy and Calibre last night/this morning, I've a list going from everyone's recommendations 😀 I'll be sure to watch the original Martyrs for sure

AnalLysis · 03/05/2023 15:58

Has anyone mentioned As Above, So Below yet? Set in Paris catacombs.

AnalLysis · 03/05/2023 15:59

Mum and Dad (British film). Not supernatural at all but all the more horrible for it. It stayed with me for weeks.

I rewatched The Wicker Man today, I forgot how good it was! I'm very into folk horror at the moment.

Same!

I love anything to do with a village with a secret, the old gods/old ways, pagan rituals etc.

Duckswaddle · 03/05/2023 22:43

Anyone remember a film called My Little Eye? Something about a group of people thinking they were on some sort of reality show but they were being killed off one by one. Freaked me out years ago - would like to watch it again!
