To think this looks awful?! Grazing table....

Posted by a local pub for an event ..... wouldn't be able to eat a thing if I was going! All those hands in there, not to mention how far over you'd have to lean to get to the food in the middle and the worst bit? This will sit there for at least 12 hours before the event which is surely not within food hygiene regulations and it will taste awful!

Knowing what bacteria is found on supermarket trolley handles when they get tested, I wouldn't go within 10 feet of this. Makes for grim viewing.

Absolutely not in a million years would I touch that. YANBU.

UnfortunateTypo · 29/04/2023 09:35

After the whole salted peanuts in pubs being got rid of in pubs because of all the piss on them. No, no, no, no to this!

Loudhousefun · 29/04/2023 10:13

Not to mention all the coughing and sneezing all over the food. It’s a definite no from me. 🤮

I am so absolutely sick of grazing tables. You will no longer catch me near one. The excess of food is incredibly obnoxious and looks absolutely gluttonous.
There are no laws in grazing tables but there really ought to be. People are adding warm cheeses next to cold curls of salmon, which are pressed right next to squares of sweating chocolate. Would you like pineapple juice soaked oat cracker with a little bit of Nutella ham?
That gross guy you work with in the office who definitely does not wash his hands in the bathroom - he's just fingered through the mixed nuts looking for a grape to go with strawberry cheese stick.

I find these really disgusting! Ughhhhh

Queenbee77 · 29/04/2023 11:27

The photo must be from a previous feast? You cant let food sit out for 12hours before eating it. You would know its old. Other than that it looks awesome. The alchohol will kill the germs.....lol

How do you know it’ll sit there for 12 hours?

Yes I wondered that. Of course 12 hours would way go over food safety regs. Are you just exaggerating to make the point? I’m not sure how I would feel if it was only just put out though. There’s a lot of salad and raw vegetables which would be fine. But I don’t get the attraction of a great big mess of that kind. It’s also not good towards food allergy sufferers.
Not how to make food appetising.

The food hygiene rule is that fresh food that's cold (ie refrigerated) can only be left at room temperature for 2 hours. After that it has to be chucked.
Food containing allergens isn't separated from other food in that "buffet".
And yes, half that food will end up on the floor 🤣

I think it's up to four hours for food that can't be kept chilled for serving, and then chuck - you can rechill if less than four hours but not then leave it out again. Not that I would go near it anyway. Allergens - they haven't considered that, or contamination.

A rigid culture in countries sharing a dish. You use clean right hand only to pick up a few morsels and don’t insert hand into mouth.

TellySavalashairbrush · 29/04/2023 17:47

I have a fear of buffets because of hygiene concerns. This table would be my idea of hell.

Happygirl79 · 29/04/2023 18:13

Awful.

Loulou6123 · 07/05/2023 05:55

There is damp/wet food next to dry food. Some things on there definitely should not be touching
It's a visual nightmare.
