To think this looks awful?! Grazing table....

Posted by a local pub for an event ..... wouldn't be able to eat a thing if I was going! All those hands in there, not to mention how far over you'd have to lean to get to the food in the middle and the worst bit? This will sit there for at least 12 hours before the event which is surely not within food hygiene regulations and it will taste awful!

I don't like grazing tables. Buffets should be on plates.

BronH · 28/04/2023 20:24

Looks like a scene from the Platform 🤢🤣

Chestnutlover · 28/04/2023 20:46

ewww I can’t even drink a glass of water that’s been left over night because of the dusty film it gets. My dp sneaks my left over bedtime water into the kettle. Always suspicious of the first cup of tea. Guess I’m a weirdo

LuckySantangelo35 · 28/04/2023 21:08

dread to think about the particles of spit, skin etc etc that will be ALLLLL over that

Morgysmum · 28/04/2023 22:00

Food poisoning waiting to happen. Even if there are tongs, how do you reach food in the middle. But I wouldn't touch it. How are they going to keep the cooked meats chilled, I doubt it will fit in a fridge, even a walk in verity. I think I could see chicken too, which is a major food poisoning hazard there. 🤮

Malloryhitops · 28/04/2023 22:02

Nah yuck and in a pub 🤢
I would however tuck in if it was on my own table at home 😂😂 just no one else touching it thanks, ah maybe DH so…

BitchBrigade · 28/04/2023 22:03

Aren't these just poor mans charcuterie i.e with charcuterie it's high quality stuff but grazing tables are triangle sandwiches and cocktail sausages a la a buffet?

All three I think are rancid by the way. I'd take a sharing platter served to me and the table but echo everyone else's feelings about this weird fetsish for "X Table/Buffet".

Daffodilwoman · 28/04/2023 22:04

It’s a no from me. I’d end up with an upset stomach.

Because they posted this tonight and the event is at lunchtime tomorrow, they added the time in their post.

There’s no way they posted that tonight for tomorrow. It would all be stale! Is it a genuine pic?!

It ticks 2 important boxes for a lot of people. The opportunity to talk about gluttony and how they couldn't possible manage more than half a breadstick, and a chance to squeal about germs.

It's no even the germs for me, it's the whole free for all concept and cold shit food that's on them. Even a high quality, proper meat charcuterie is rancid, room temp filth.

Whatever the event, just have a menu and serve a plate,. Then no one is whining about germs or someone taking more than their share or frittering about how they couldn't possibly manage more than two grapes and a ripe fart for their main meal.

FictionalCharacter · 28/04/2023 22:13

The food hygiene rule is that fresh food that's cold (ie refrigerated) can only be left at room temperature for 2 hours. After that it has to be chucked.
Food containing allergens isn't separated from other food in that "buffet".
And yes, half that food will end up on the floor 🤣

Moopsi · 28/04/2023 22:14

Joey. Doesn't. Share. Food.

Acornsoup · 28/04/2023 22:16

Looks lovely but would not eat that in a pub with strangers. Maybe in a family gathering and only with the hand washers - and obvs much smaller quantities

Middleagedspreadisreal · 28/04/2023 22:24

I'd report them. Pubs have been stopped from putting bowls of nuts and crisps on the bar for hygiene reasons. This could cause no end of germ spreading

sofamarathon · 28/04/2023 22:28

No serving plates/platters?

Has it been laid out on the table
Top?

Gross

scroogemcfuckaduck · 28/04/2023 22:41

I just see norovirus

deste · 28/04/2023 22:55

It looks like one of those dieting programes where they tell you this is the amount of food you ate this week.

Nellodee · 28/04/2023 23:26

It’ll look terrible by the time it gets to floor 6 (definitely gave me Platform vibes too).

tailinthejam · 29/04/2023 00:22

I can hear it now... the conversation in the pub kitchen that morning.

"Let's just shove it on the table and not bother with the plates and dishes, I can't be bothered with all that washing up, can you?".

wentworthinmate · 29/04/2023 07:06

A big fat no from me. We are humans not animals.

Because they posted this tonight and the event is at lunchtime tomorrow, they added the time in their post.

It must be an example if what food they offer, probably used a photo from a previous event. There are rules about how long food can sit there. I had an event and they venue came and took all the food away while we still wanted it left out due to food hygiene rules.
