To think that this FLY business is just another way of trying to convince women that service is what they are meant for?

We've had house-work-is-what-FAther-Xmas-made-women-for.
We've had housework is the standard on which a woman's morals are judged.
Now we have housework as therapy: FInally Loving Yourself. What's loving about knocking yourself out with drudgery? Surely it's more self-loving to say, bollocks to doing more than the minimum, mess is no big deal and my time is far too precious to wipe skirting boards twice a day?

I?m fascinated by the points made on this thread, sounds like another each to their own to me though. I?m a new sahm, DD 8 weeks old, but have been FLYing for a few years now and my house have never been straighter, FLYlady has been a blessing to me. I like only cleaning for 1 hour a week, it suits me. It does seem like some have wrong idea about the system though, it?s not obsessed with cleaning at all, it is only about doing the bare minimum; 15 mins here and there, not some Anthea type perfect showhome.

I am also of the idea that sahm?s should do the lions share of the tidying and cooking ? I hate housework and do not spend every waking hour polishing taps but am happy to keep things straight and clean clothes and cook. I?d much rather be here at home than working for some a*ehle and since I have the pleasure of being with my baby I try not to neglect my home ? FLYing helps with that. The makeup thing in the morning is dead right too, I would stay in my dressing gown all day otherwise! However I?ll finish by saying what I started with each to their own, everyones circumstances are different.

Ps, aren?t employees providing service too?

Ambi, employees are getting paid. SAHMs who do all the housework are getting subsistence for a 24/7 working week.
But the main problem with the flylady type stuff is this idea that there is something Good For You in accepting that your role in life is to do the shitwork. Everyone has to do a certain amount of dishwashing, laundry etc, but it's just boring, repetitive shitwork that has to be got through. It's not a sacred calling, and if you hate it, being told how wonderful it is will not make you hate it any less.
