Do you think it is ok for men to post sexualised reviews of women's knickers on M&S website?

M&S does:

IABU: It is fine
IAMBU: Women do not want to be used to facilitate men's fetishes, they should delete sexualised reviews

Bloody hell, I put a review on to say that I’d been sent an incorrect item out twice (wrong colour) and they rejected it saying I’d broken their rules ! Unbelievable

Clymene · 14/04/2023 18:19

Here's another one for you @EllenLRipley

I reported this one.

Last night I found several.

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/04/2023 18:38

These are some of the screenshots from 2019 if you want to tell them this has been going on for years.

I reported the one last night (twice I think). I pointed out that it was obviously a male fetishist and did M&S want their brand associated with such misogynistic behaviour. No idea if anyone took any notice though.

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/04/2023 18:50

There are also ones on bras on the 2019 thread, part III. This one is about the Angel bra, which is designed as a first bra for girls.

I also reported a few of the more overt ones.

I find it so inappropriate, I could honestly do with some new bra's & undies but good grief am I put off by the prospect now.

If I wanted to see reviews of men wearing women's underwear/lingerie, I'd go to somewhere like Love Honey or Anne Summers, where it's expected and appropriate.

We shouldn't be seeing this from more "every day" stores like M&S.
I get they have a "lingerie" section and lingerie is arguably different from more "normal" underwear, but let's be real, they're awfully plain for "lingerie" and most if not all of M&S's underwear products you could easily wear as an "every day" item, as opposed to the types of clothing Love Honey or Ann Summers provide.
It's just not the appropriate place for that type of review.

Imagine how thrilled some men will be to read this thread.....

A post about a stitched gusset being unwearable.

Look at the username on this one. Also from that thread. Review from 2020.

I'm sure they'll be thrilled. Just as they're thrilled imagining women going onto the reviews section and reading their reviews.

Unfortunately the only way to expose a fetish is to shine a light on it. And while that might give a short term thrill, long term, I hope it means that M&S bans this shit. I really, really hate coming across them

Are we allowed to post these reviews on Mn vis a vis talk guidelines? I note you’ve linked rather than screenshots.

WarningToTheCurious · 14/04/2023 19:27

There was another one complaining that a thong didn’t provide enough support.

FFS, thongs do not need to provide support.

Oopstheregoesanotherrubbertreeplant · 14/04/2023 19:38

Obviously men can wear female underwear if they want to, but seeing the unnecessary details in male reviews of lingerie on the M&S website puts me off buying them.

It's hard to feel pretty or sexy or feminine in lingerie after reading how well it covers and supports some random man's cock and balls.

JudgeRudy · 14/04/2023 19:53

pickledandpuzzled · 14/04/2023 17:53

I still can't see anything offensive and I've followed this link. There's a couple of reviews presumably from men but there's nothing offensive or sexual there. There is a review from a bloke (presumably) who bought them for his wife that's midly sexual, but there are reviews from women much the same elsewhere. Have the offensive reviews been taken down again or are these them? I'm not offended at all.

Pretty and comfortable to wear. I sized up for comfort and to ensure no panty lines under my dress but theyre pretty true to size.

That's the only review? How do we know it's a man? Seems an odd use of language but I can see why M&S wouldn't remove the review as it's not obvious it's a raised eyebrow comment

ewww. I hope his wife gets the support she needs recognising her husband’s fetish for what it is. She is probably putting on a brave face for her stunning and brave husband.

EllenLRipley · 14/04/2023 20:02

I don't find the last one offensive but some of the others are revolting

If you've read this thread and still don't understand the issue @JudgeRudy I can't help you.

WarningToTheCurious · 14/04/2023 20:02

@JudgeRudy Both those reviews are males talking about how ladies underwear “holds them in” or provide “discreet cover”. One talks about “sexy panties”.

Good for you if you think “move along, nothing to see here”. Others take a different view.

EllenLRipley · 14/04/2023 20:03

let's have a vote. Has anyone here ever, themselves, or heard any other female use the word "panties". No. Just no.

Only in the US.

In the UK, only in relation to panty liners.

Tempone · 14/04/2023 20:11

Yes I have.....I also stoll don't see the big issue at all, none of it screams overtly sexual, shockingly crude language. I am very critical of men calling themselves women, but this is men wearing what they feel sexy in and still identifying as male. It's nothing to do with tw or tm. I thought the whole point is that anyone can wear what they want but you can't change gender. These men aren't claiming to be women.

AnneKipankitoo · 14/04/2023 20:16

Let’s all buy underpants and review them. Men won’t give a or a .
