Tell me about your pyjamas

I have pyjama rage. As a child, maybe age 6-17, I slept in knickers alone (I don't know why I needed the knickers. Habit?) This is because I was too hot for pyjamas. Year round.
Now, in my lurvely(!) grown-up-me's house, and it's not 1996 any more, I'm freezing cold and have to wear pjs.

But they drive me bonkers. I need your advice for something / a brand / a link that you can recommend.

Nighties always seem to wind up wound around my middle, and are usually short sleeved so give cold arms.
I have tried fleecy pjs. Too sweaty. Silky satin ones, too staticy and sweaty. Cotton ones, the top twists around as I roll over and the buttons come undone. I'm being woken by ds in the morning with my boobs out. (He's very small and doesn't bat an eyelid)

I heard about toast being the ultimate but they look silky, and also about 99% over budget.

Am I missing the magic pyjama shop down diagon alley?

Please recommend!

Oooh! Warm? But not sweaty?

Exactly. And not thick at all.

Personally most of mine are brushed cotton ones from M & S - the ones that come folded on a card with tape round. Nice and soft, quite breathable and suitable more or less all year.

RedEyeBaby · 12/04/2023 22:15

Thank you both :-)

T shirts and maybe pj bottoms, preferably shorter ones. Less material to get twisted.

RedEyeBaby · 12/04/2023 22:17

But then I get so cold in my igloo! But as soon as the radiator comes on I'm sweating myself awake. What is WRONG with me? 😭

I struggle with PJs too. EVERYTHING is uncomfortable on me - long trousers, long sleeves, buttons, collars, waistbands ... I hate them all !!

The only thing that works for me is a wide-necked baggy T-shirt, or a short nightie (plain, no frilly nonsense!). And in the heat, a strappy nightie or vest. Must wear knickers. Don't know why, but I have always done since childhood. Socks - never!!

I'd rather wear a T-shirt in winter plus three duvets and a hot water bottle rather than long sleeves or trousers!

Oh same here. I absolutely cannot deal with having the heating come on until I am out of bed! I wear mostly just cheapo jersey/t-shirt material pyjamas. Sometimes woven cotton bottoms and t-shirt top. And bedsocks from about September to June Grin I have awful circulation! Pyjamas do twist around though. It's annoying.

buckleten · 12/04/2023 22:24

M&S pj's are great, even the cheap ones. I have recently treated myself to a lovely more expensive pair from there which feel so nice to wear.

Blackbirdblue30 · 12/04/2023 22:36

I only wear pyjamas as lounge wear, not in bed as I can't stand the drag from the pj fabric off the duvet fabric when you turn. Everything ends up twisted. Silky shorts do well with a cotton cami that has some support.

curlywurlylover666 · 12/04/2023 22:38

I hate pyjamas. Pre kids I always slept with nothing on. Since having the kids and needing to get up to them in the night, I tolerate wearing a pair of thin shorts and a normal cotton vest which is stretchy and comfy.

FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 12/04/2023 22:39

You need cotton or viscose jersey, not woven. Try a large t shirt with generous neck sizes (try Noctu) and loose jersey pjs like cyberjamies

FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 12/04/2023 22:40

You also need to adjust your heating so it doesn’t vary so wildly.

I'm wearing my velour Christmas pjs with ice skaters on. I like an elastic cuff at wrist and ankle to stop riding up. I think they are from yours or simply be

I'm currently tucked up in bed wearing these - I love them! https://www.pourmoi.co.uk/products/velour-pyjama-set/

I'd never be able to sleep in those, I'd be far too hot.

peanutbuttertoasty · 12/04/2023 22:47

Yawn are amazing and last for years. I always buy in the sale. Have quite the collection now!

Daffodilwoman · 12/04/2023 22:48

Another vote for M & S.
Brushed cotton long sleeved ones.

MissingMoominMamma · 12/04/2023 22:50

Yawn. I wear their nightshirts mostly, but I do also have their pyjamas. They are organic cotton which is lovely and silky, and I don’t sweat it them!

tobee · 12/04/2023 22:50

Tangent - but why do pyjama bottoms go up the bum crack but long ones do not? 🤔

They are not as hot as they look and very soft :-)

CheersForThatEh · 12/04/2023 22:54

I wear whatever my husband is gifted at christmas by family. It's always huge in me and lovely long legs. Usually a jogger style.

I also like an extra blanket on the bed as the weight is lovely and I can throw it off when I've had enough.

Modal material is perfect. Victoria secret
