Tell me about your pyjamas

I have pyjama rage. As a child, maybe age 6-17, I slept in knickers alone (I don't know why I needed the knickers. Habit?) This is because I was too hot for pyjamas. Year round.
Now, in my lurvely(!) grown-up-me's house, and it's not 1996 any more, I'm freezing cold and have to wear pjs.

But they drive me bonkers. I need your advice for something / a brand / a link that you can recommend.

Nighties always seem to wind up wound around my middle, and are usually short sleeved so give cold arms.
I have tried fleecy pjs. Too sweaty. Silky satin ones, too staticy and sweaty. Cotton ones, the top twists around as I roll over and the buttons come undone. I'm being woken by ds in the morning with my boobs out. (He's very small and doesn't bat an eyelid)

I heard about toast being the ultimate but they look silky, and also about 99% over budget.

Am I missing the magic pyjama shop down diagon alley?

Please recommend!

M&S cotton ones.

Only wear natural fabrics as they’re much cooler in bed - no man made fibres!

UnNiddeRides · 12/04/2023 22:56

Aldi mens ones with a 100% cotton jersey top. The sleeves are long enough to wear as mittens whilst gripping your Kindle. Oddly the bottoms are 100% man-made so i charity shop those & rotate some Tui bottoms.

Claireshh · 12/04/2023 22:58

I know what you mean!

I find modal fabric good. It is stretchy, not baggy or silky. Short style from cyber jammies are good. I have cuffed modal long ones that are great as well.

But then I get so cold in my igloo! But as soon as the radiator comes on I'm sweating myself awake. What is WRONG with me? 😭

Nothing is wrong with you, but you need a silk duvet and no pyjamas.

pokebowl · 12/04/2023 22:58

Tesco men's cotton ones in a size small. I'm too tall for women's ones to be full length and I find more expensive = hotter or shrinks in wash

They are not as hot as they look and very soft :-)

I can't sleep with long sleeves or anything on my legs, I'd definitely be too hot in those. Plus trousers seem to tangle around my legs in the night.

loafintheoven · 12/04/2023 23:03

I had a set of Toast pjs - never really rated them (and the buttons still undid themselves). I like Uniqlo brushed cotton.

MerylSqueak · 12/04/2023 23:03

I get pyjama rage too. I now wear big, short- sleeve, cotton t-shirt dresses from HM and slip a pair of leggings when it's really chilly or when I get up

dudsville · 12/04/2023 23:06

Sounds like you're sorted for pjs, so I'm logging a vote for socks. They don't have to be bed socks. My feet are like ice blocks and i find it comforting stopping them touching anything. I saw you started off looking at Toast, they're all 100% cotton and they do reasonable sales. But before i bought from them i preferred cath kidston for the softest cotton i'd ever come across, their sale prices are obviously even better than toast's.

EmilyGilmoresSass · 12/04/2023 23:06

I'm like this. I wear pj's from the minute I know I'm home for the day but I cannot sleep in them, but was also getting cold. I ended up getting a washable, electric heated throw and lying on it turned down to the lower settings as a compromise 😅

Bk1000 · 12/04/2023 23:06

I wear less pyjamas and take a hot water bottle to bed with me at night. I like my bedroom to be very cold and Hate long pjs, I wear shorts and vest style all year but add extra blanket + hot water bottle when it’s cold.

Haematomato · 12/04/2023 23:13

Mens £2 basic t-shirts from Primark and cuffed ankle thin trousers from the ladies section to stop them riding up, or shorts in the summer.

I find they grey t-shirts to be the softest and most comfortable, especially after a few washes.

Talia99 · 12/04/2023 23:15

Another vote for M&S.

Could it be an issue with friction with your bedding? I have bamboo sheets (top and bottom) and my PJs seem to stay in place better.

Motherhubbardscupboard · 12/04/2023 23:18

DKNY from Costco. They are the softest loveliest pyjamas I've ever had. I have long ones and short ones.

GrumpyPanda · 12/04/2023 23:25

Heating's always off in my bedroom, I couldn't bear a radiator overnight.

I do cotton pj's in summer, fleecy ones in winter. Usually men's range - can't stand the candy colours most women's nightwear comes in, and I also like the longer tops. I'm large-chested so it means going for the oversizes.

pastabest · 12/04/2023 23:44

I've made my own from a modal type fabric.

I made a pair of french knicker/ boxer style shorts, some leggings, a long vest top and a long sleeved top. I mix and match depending on how I'm feeling, sometimes that is long sleeve top and shorts, sometimes it is vest and leggings. Often it's the vest, long sleeved top and shorts and I whip the long sleeved top off if I get too hot.

so definitely look for modal.

closest I've found in ready to wear to the set I've made for myself are these ones https://www.victoriassecret.co.uk/shop/promotions-modal/category-pyjamas#1_339

Cotton jersey jogger style bottoms and t-shirts for me. No brand, as I make my own. Soft and comfy, the right length, the waist sits in the right place and the waist elastic doesn't dig in. I make sure they have huge pockets in, too.

MyGrandmaLizzie · 13/04/2023 00:02

I don't possess a single pair of pyjamas. I'm always too hot at night so nearly always sleep naked.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 13/04/2023 00:04

YABU. Just layer on more throws. I have a couple of lightweight ones I can peel off.

But I just can't wear clothing of any description in bed. It gets twisted around me, up my arse round my tits. So annoying.

Bagofmaltesers · 13/04/2023 00:12

Seasalt jersey pyjamas. I find them really comfortable, and I’m a recent convert to pjs.

homeeddingwitch · 13/04/2023 00:16

I’ve recently discovered the joy of a jumpsuit style pjs. No waistband is it for me. They have a harem style bottom half so don’t ride up and have plenty of room too. Saying that I often remove them in the night as I’m peri but the comfort factor is astounding. I got them from Free People.

BonnieGlasses · 13/04/2023 00:17

Just wear an old t-shirt and stop being such a pyjama queen! Wink

Tr1skel1on · 13/04/2023 00:19

The M&S cheap PJ's are fabulous. Wafer thin but that's what I need. If you get cold feet look for cheap bedsocks on Amazon. Absolute game changer. My hot flushes never reach my toes unfortunately
