I self-catheterize and am given plastic-containing wipes by the NHS continence clinic. I have to use them as they help prevent infections that would land me in hospital with a relapse to my medical condition. I dispose of in a provided "nappy" sack.
I'm also blessed with a chronic bowel condition that makes me take several trips to the loo every day. As PP says, I can get sore so use my own plastic-free wet wipes that go in my nappy sacks. A shower after every BM is physically impossible for me as well as bad for my skin, the planet and my bank balance (as I'm on a water meter).
I actually remember using an outhouse with squares of newspaper strung on a hook and am thankful that times have changed.
I wonder if my friend is reading this thread. For years she's used baby wipes, complains of a regularly blocked sewer but still doesn't seem to understand she's causing the problem. She moaned that putting them in a nappy sack was "dirty" while changing her grandchild's nappy and throwing it in one.
Plastic in landfill is a problem I know and hate that I'm contributing to but why aren't ALL wipes at least bio-degradable?
