To be annoyed about Wet Wipes ban

JackiePlace · 04/04/2023 09:50

I have never put them down the toilet, but because too many stupid people do, I will no longer be able to clean my bum hole properly!
And don't have a large bathroom so there's no space for a bidet, before anyone suggests it.

No. Me too

Although I am very errrmmm regular and always have a morning shower after.

What is all this using wet wipes to wipe your bum nonsense? Bum baths, and jugs and guns, has the world gone mad?

Obviously so.

Never heard of a bum gun. Never used a wipe. Toilet paper here. Off to google…..

Me too. Poo then shower is my daily routine. If you’re using a bum gun how doyou prevent poopy water from swooshing towards your vulva and potentially causing infections?

Its all in the aim 😜 think downwards rather than forwards

Dirtydiesel · 04/04/2023 11:03

"Try cleaning a disabled adult who wears nappies after a humongous shit"

You will get people telling you they know all about it because they have had a baby. They think personal care for a teenager or adult is the same as changing a toddlers nappy.

We use Wype gel on loo roll, it's brilliant.
https://wypeuk.com/collections

Seconding this. Brilliant stuff. It’s a gel rather than a spray so the loo roll does not disintegrate.

ShippingNews · 04/04/2023 11:05

I have an electronic bidet which is part of the toilet, it replaces the existing toilet seat. Washes and dries your bottom, it's very refreshing.

Iwanttobeanonymous · 04/04/2023 11:05

Anyone with a medical condition requiring wipes to clean can use plastic free ones and ideally put them out in normal waste rather than flushing?

We have a disabled family member and this is exactly what we do and have always done.

MagpiePi · 04/04/2023 11:05

But if you are using a bum gun or jug, aren't you just leaving diluted shit on your bum, or do you use some kind of soap? After all if you got shit on your hands you wouldn't just rinse them with water on it's own?

so many questions!

Boltonb · 04/04/2023 11:05

Toilet paper disintegrates when you get it wet.

Toilet paper really doesn’t disintegrate with Wype. It’s really good.

Turn toilet paper into wipe

I was sceptical, but it’s actually great

A bum gun. Shock There's an image for a Tuesday morning.

😂

Strawberrydelight78 · 04/04/2023 11:06

I just wet some toilet roll and use that. Even when kids were babies I only used wipes for soiled nappies. Mainly used cotton wool and water. My sister used a wipe on my son's face once and he went all red. She couldn't understand why he was screaming. I went mad she knows he has sensitive skin. His face was stinging had to put some water on his face.

tiantian1005 · 04/04/2023 11:06

Maybe this is dumb question, I thought some of the baby wet wipe brands are already plastic free and the ban is only for wipes that contain plastic???

BarbaraofSeville · 04/04/2023 11:06

Is 'plastic free' enough for flushing though?

After all, not all paper products break up sufficiently to prevent blockages, eg kitchen roll type paper. You often see signs in public toilets asking people not to flush things like disposable hand towel paper.

I don't buy any disposable wipes but am aware of the distinction between 'flushable' that were nothing of the sort, and 'fine to flush' which may be OK if they meet the new criteria.

But Hmm at all the people saying 'just shower afterwards'. Not everyone's bowels or lives are so routine or predictable that there is always the time and facility to shower after having a shit.

humblemeep · 04/04/2023 11:06

Very happy that they are banning wipes containing plastic, but some of you have no idea how essential wet wipes are for some people. I care for someone who can't go to the toilet unless able to use a wet wipe wrapped around their finger to ease things on their way. Essential to them. Also very delicate skin, so just using toilet roll to clean would cause significant distress. Please don't presume everyone is in the same situation as you are.

I know. I was responding to OPs question. There will be wipes she can use if she cant cope without them.

I know but I think that lots of these wipes say they are biodegradable but actually, they aren’t. That’s why they will have to actually prove it.

To add, depending on situations mentioned like carer, you would use toilet paper first then wash with cloth

No. You can’t flush any wet wipes not even plastic free ones. The plastic free ones use plant fibres and so are fully natural and biodegradable and so do not harm the environment like the conventional ones that do contain plastic.

OMG I'm 😂😂 here. Try cleaning a disabled adult who wears nappies after a humongous shit with these plastic free wipes, while I fully support less plastic, these wipes break and you're left with your hand covered in shit, so you have to use two or three at once!

And no a flannel doesn't work, you'd need about 20 of them for one shit, you can't use a basin of water because the person is thrashing around and you end up with shitty water all over you.

Using jugs and water bottles etc😬😬😬 like how, what do you do? Stand up and squirt their arse until the shit is gone? Where do you even try stand or position them? While you fling a jug of water over them.

There is no fucking way I'm carrying around re usable flannels etc and carrying them home in my handbag to wash, when I get dds nappy off that crap is disposed off immediately and the house is nearly fumigated, imagine carrying around a handbag full of shit filled flannels.

This!! @60smusic - thank you so much for posting it. I was just trying to work out how on earth I could do the clean up after DH produced a huge and loose shit while using washable cloths (OMG!!!).

I had the bathroom re-floored with scrubbable flooring simply because even with wet wipes and him doing his best to clean himself I can still end up with lumps of shit all over the bathroom. Cleaning up clods of poo and then washing the cloths isn't going to be on my agenda!

rileynexttime · 04/04/2023 11:10

Can people please stop with the remarks about cleaning one's nether regions with more than dry toilet paper .Lucky you that your life is so easy .
I don't need more bran or to see a specialist ( even if that were possible) .I leak poo and urine .When I poo it doesn't just leave in a neat tidy pile .
And as I've recently discovered treatment for prostate cancer frequently leaves men leaking .
A lot of us do need more of a clean up than a wipe with toilet paper .

Albiboba · 04/04/2023 11:11

@Broadbeachshallow Water and cloth are viable options, certainly at home.

Hmm have you ever tried to change at least 2 nappies out of the house with just a cloth and water??

ittakes2 · 04/04/2023 11:12

We used to have a bidet hose next to the toilet so no need for extra room.
