Immediate thoughts on this weekend

Went to work until lunchtime (private tutor)
Got baguettes, cheese and fruit from the shop on way home for myself, Dd,4 and Dh. Had lunch, I lay down on sofa watching Gogglebox and on phone, Dh took Dd two doors down to her friends house to play on the trampoline for a couple of hours. They will then go to get takeaway pizza later we’ll watch a film, then bed for Dd
Tomorrow, we’re driving around 30 minutes away to a waterfall, then to a little beach resort (we’re abroad) where they have a nice playground, we’ll have lunch there then take a boat over to a small beach island just across the way from there.
Will come back, walk our dog in the forest/beach and Dd will have a bath and get school things ready for tomorrow. I’ll take Dd to bed and do stories etc.

Immediate thoughts/response to this weekend?

Sounds fabulous!

MamaNomore · 01/04/2023 15:43

It sounds lovely. Why are you asking?

lostinabook · 01/04/2023 15:43

Sounds great!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 01/04/2023 15:43

I can't vote that YABU or not, as I'm not sure there was a question that can be answered by this!

It sounds perfectly fine and a pleasant weekend, so I'm wondering why you're asking.

Icanbuymyselfflowersstuckinmyhead · 01/04/2023 15:44

I messaged my plans to a friend who asked and her response has left me questioning things.

Stealth brag.

(Although not so stealthy)

😉

ChevySilverado · 01/04/2023 15:45

Why are you posting so cryptically? Just say what the issue is. 🙄

teacakecrumbs · 01/04/2023 15:45

Sounds fabulous. Why are you asking?! Is this some kind of stealth boast?

Questioning what?

So what did your friend say then?

IMO there was no need for all the details (reads like you are posting on a "what are you up to today?" thread on MN as opposed to answering a fairly typical and mundane question).

If it were me I'd have probably just outlined the main plans.

MamaNomore · 01/04/2023 15:50

Does this friend often try and make you doubt yourself, OP?

Icanbuymyselfflowersstuckinmyhead · 01/04/2023 15:50

Stealth boast?! How is it boasting, about what exactly? 🤷🏻‍♀️

My friend replied that she didn’t want to speak out of turn/offend me basically but didn’t I think we were too young to be living like this (I’m early 40’s so not young really!) and do I not get bored with my life
Just feel pretty shit and weird after it.
Im a fairly outgoing person but like to chill and stay in a fair bit, especially as I’ve been working lots.

Lyricallie · 01/04/2023 15:51

Sounds fine, a bit boring perhaps but you were working and it sounds like you have a young family.

Vintagecreamandcottagepie · 01/04/2023 15:52

Your friend is insane and probably a bit jealous.

Your weekend sounds lovely

Rumplestrumpet · 01/04/2023 15:52

Early 40s here with young kids too. You didn't mention a soft play, so sounds like a dream weekend to me!!

Icanbuymyselfflowersstuckinmyhead · 01/04/2023 15:52

It’s just made me question if I really am becoming boring and old 😫
Tbh I’m not sure if I’ll fancy even going out tomorrow (the drive away) but now I’m thinking that will be *Really boring.
There’s just no way I can go out a few times a week anymore and out all weekend usually…I’m wondering if that’s normal at my age?

OP posts:
Icanbuymyselfflowersstuckinmyhead · 01/04/2023 15:53

@Lyricallie Thats what I mean, is it boring?

OP posts:
MissCalamity · 01/04/2023 15:54

It's more than what I'm doing this weekend 🤣
Ignore your mad friend & enjoy yourself!

MamaNomore · 01/04/2023 15:54

Just feel pretty shit and weird after it.

Stop that right now! How dare she judge how you spend your time. Enjoy your weekend doing what you want to do and try not to pay any heed to people who are gobby or jealous enough to criticise your choices.

arethereanyleftatall · 01/04/2023 15:55

Nothing is boring if it's what YOU want to do. That's literally what hobbies are. Do what YOU like. If this weekend is lovely for you, then do that. If your friend prefers to spend her weekends going out for a long run and then socialising, she should do that. Neither is superior.

Aturnipforthebooks · 01/04/2023 15:56

Does she have kids?

Icanbuymyselfflowersstuckinmyhead · 01/04/2023 15:57

Also the fact I’m lay on the sofa in a hoodie and pj bottoms (already 🙈) typing this and she’s out drinking cocktails (has a child too)
I’m just excited for my pizza and Dh putting Dd to bed at 7, so I have the tv to myself

OP posts:
Coastalvenues · 01/04/2023 15:57

It sounds lovely, many people could only dream of a life like that, your friend, well.....

Well bully for her, honestly 😒

Icanbuymyselfflowersstuckinmyhead · 01/04/2023 15:59

@Aturnipforthebooks Yes, one the same age, that’s why I’m questioning it too, she works more hours than me at the moment but has boundless energy, she’s a few years younger, but surely that shouldn’t make a huge difference.
Its sort of giving me fomo, which I haven’t had for so long, I was alright until she said that
