Who the duck do I vote for?

Hi - I have a dilemma. I can’t morally vote Tory again although it probably on paper is most logical choice for me. I also cannot vote for labour I disagree with at least 3 of their major policies. I could vote locally for Lib Dem but is it worth it? Or just don’t vote? I’m sick to back teeth of lying scumbags running this country. I will never ever forgive the tories for brexit (the biggest mistake of in my lifetime that has robbed our children of opportunity) but I also don’t really agree with a lot of labour policies. Can anyone help?

I thought it was standard now in the NHS to choose the sex of your healthcare provider if it mattered to you.
Has this been banished and now you have to choose a gender and hope or go without care?

You can ask all you like, but female gynaecologists are like unicorns in my NHS Trust.

@verdantverdure this probably isn’t the right forum but the usual ones that people have an issue with. They are redlines for me. the private school thing is nuts frankly ! I remember Diane abbot sending her kid to private school etc just as hypocritical.

There isn't an election for national Govt.... you really do not have to think about this until all parties publish their manifestos and then you can read what they plan to do and base it on past performance of the last 13 years or nearer 15 by the time of the next GE.

The local elections have very little influence on our daily lives as Govt has all the power.

Well... thats what i'll be doing

You mean your GP? Even if you had the right in theory, waiting times make it difficult to stick to doesn't it? And I really wasn't aware you could choose the sex of a specialist you're referred to?

No, oddly which GP I see rarely matters to me, but for breast exam, smear (which I've opted out of) and some other stuff which evades me right now, we can choose the sex. I've never had to see a specialist so ive no idea on that.

Going by other threads recently I think waiting lists are none existent but for this we will assume they are in place, still for the most part you can choose the sex. You may well be told you'll have to wait for your chosen sex, but that's then up to each woman to choose, wait or not wait.

Of course one easyish fix would be employ more women/men as needed. But we all know the NHS is falling apart.

There is the recent case of the woman who asked for single sex for her operation and had it cancelled the day before but as far as I recall she did in the end get the hospital to agree to women only as far as possible. I cannot remember her name and her thread has disappeared from my watched list.

The smear test is done by the practice nurse, the vast majority of which are women anyway I imagine.
I'd never heard that you can choose the sex of your doctor, but with waiting lists as they are in the UK it could end up being suicidal.

There has already been a woman gaslighted into accepting a Male or transwomen if you prefer for a smear. It's a good few years ago now, I dont know if any other women have had the same, I've not been checking, but I do suspect more events like that, and either women have not said a word for fear of the backlash or more likely just being kind, or maybe more obviously a fear of the HCP themselves. If you've been raped, you know how powerless you are, and HCPs are in a position of power, plus see you in all states of undress.

As for taking your life in your hands waiting for the right sex HCP , then at least for now it is a choice. A choice many women will take to wait and maybe die. For some women it's that stark.
