How many miles does your car have?

CPHB2021 · 26/03/2023 19:45

And how long do you think it'll last?

How many is too many! I've never had a car with particularly high mileage but I often see cars being sold with 150k plus miles ( obviously these are cheap cars ) but do they really have any life left in them?

24k and I've not had it that long. My old car has 48k when it was written off in an accident, was only a few years old. I drive quite a lot though as live rural and family live far away.

GiltEdges · 26/03/2023 20:54

9k. No idea how long it'll last, but I imagine long after I've moved on to the next one.

recorderscansoundgreat · 26/03/2023 20:57

almost 50k, 12 years old. Will probably run it until it dies, hopefully at least another 7 years (when DD will be learning to drive - it's a big car, so not the kindest for a learner, though we've not made any decisions about that yet....)

Merryoldgoat · 26/03/2023 21:01

85k - it’s a 15 year old Honda and it runs brilliantly. I love it and expect to get another 5-7 years out of it.

SilentBob · 26/03/2023 21:06

2019 Smart ForTwo. Less than 5k.

SoAndSoSaidSo · 26/03/2023 21:16

Pushing 100k, 9 years old. Had it from new. Hopefully still many miles to come.

Kenworthington · 26/03/2023 21:18

2k, two and a half months old!

Lydiahateswashing · 26/03/2023 21:20

80k. 9 years old.

PamelaDawes · 26/03/2023 21:22

127k Toyota

fantasic car. I think the mechanic at the dealership loves it as much as I do because it is a discontinued petrol verso and they don’t make them anymore. I can’t imagine why. It is a perfect family car and narrow enough to park.

tapdancingmum · 26/03/2023 21:25

185,004 and still going strong.

It is a 2007 Clio diesel held together with parts from Ebay, but I expect 🫰it to go through the next MOT.

PinkiOcelot · 26/03/2023 21:35

17 plate Leon has 43k on the clock.

Finalstar · 26/03/2023 21:36

100K. 50K of which was there when I bought it (one previous owner). It's lavished with TLC and servicing as I intend to run it until it dies (hopefully many years from now!)

iaapap · 26/03/2023 21:38

I wouldn't buy one with 150k on it unless I knew how to fix cars or knew someone that did. Round here, you can phone a garage if you have a car problem and they have a waiting time of 3-4 weeks.

LibrariansGiveUsPower · 26/03/2023 21:40

185,000 12 year old golf gti, running fine no issues. I expect it will top 200,000 but I’m going to trade it in soon.

Divorcedalongtime · 26/03/2023 21:42

173000 it’s a good old solid diesel engines pick up truck, people get hundreds of miles in them

Trollsinmyeggbox · 26/03/2023 21:45

A petrol with 175,000
A diesel with 123,000
And a diesel estate with 410,000 - proud of that one, it's like Trigger's broom.

BenCoopersSupportWren · 26/03/2023 21:48

About 1700, 72 plate, had it since September.

Spanglemum · 26/03/2023 21:49

Average mileage is about 10k per year.

Carsarelife · 26/03/2023 21:52

@Spanglemum the question was how many miles does your car have, not how many miles do you average a year?
Everyone has different lives

Sandy89xx · 26/03/2023 21:52

Mines got 214k on the clock had it from new. Mazda told me I'd be lucky to get to 150k for some reason but still going strong

JaceLancs · 26/03/2023 21:52

160k diesel VW -
my last one got to 265k but bodywork started to go - nothing wrong with engine
DP looks after all our cars and says his regular servicing keeps them going
He has an Audi with 217k on it which drives well still

Woodywasatwat · 26/03/2023 21:54

110k.

14 year old peugeot 107. Never fails MOT, just passed another last week.

Bastard thing is the size of a wheelie bin and we can’t fit all of us in it at once, it’s got a huge dent on the front from when do drive into a bollard that we can’t afford to fix but we can’t afford to replace it.

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 26/03/2023 21:54

20k 2018 plate. Going to resist upgrade until 50k on clock and buy a new kitchen instead

PriamFarrl · 26/03/2023 21:55

I’m going to win this one.

13,000 and it’s 6 years old…..

Peckhaminn · 26/03/2023 21:55

70,000 7 years old
