Led by donkeys - enough is enough

Bloody hell, I’ve just watched the new “led by donkeys” video. People like Matt Hancock wanting to work for a fake consultancy firm for obscene amounts of cash.

I cannot tell You how angry MPs make me right now.

I have a relative that is an NHS dr on £14 an hour. She pays for her own travel and parking. All her study… she pays for. She is so busy she sometimes doesn’t eat.

then these idiots earn loads, and then claim back loads of expenses. Disgusting in my opinion. They then get second jobs that pay them £10k a day. Without even checking if company is real first.

In my opinion an mp should only take a second job if it’s in the nhs, army etc or a volunteer job for a registered charity. That’s it. No other reason.

I can’t even process this. I’ve had enough. What on earth can we do to change this? And yes I’ll not be voting Tory at the next election. They are a bunch of posh rich boys that want to just look after themselves. Politics should be more diverse. what on earth can we do?

'No they don't. They provide carefully selected extracts and articles that they think back up a particular view while studiously avoiding any follow up questions. Take their copy and paste job at 12:54 which they claim shows Kier Starmer isn't "tough on crime". Only problem is the "proof" is written by a self proclaimed gossip columnist'

Well that is how debate goes, you provide links that support your views. I love how Clavinova rattles everyone's cages with their evidence, so much so that a pp had to resort to use a mocking name as they are so out of their depth and unable to dispute the facts.

Tbf most 'Bozo is EVIL' posters tend to use folk like Mirror or Guardian 'reporters' who are pretty much gossip columnists.

Still avoiding the party questions you’ve been asked about multiple times ?

I've answered numerous times on numerous threads. The poster who repeatedly asks the same question despite getting answers perhaps needs to work on their debating skills.

Presumably because there isn't an answer.

@Tiocfaigharla It’s not really relevant who I voted for last time. Since we last voted a lot of terrible behaviour has happened

Most of which was easily foreseeable with a PM who tells lies for fun and has no decency.

Your relative I guess is studying to be a doctor, and once training has finished, will be on substantially more than £14 per hour. Unfortunately, many people training for vocational jobs get nothing and have to get jobs on the side until training is finished. So your relative is pretty lucky….

Where on earth do you get the idea that doctors pay to be trained? During training they re simply increasing their debt levels.

No debating does not usually consist of one person posting 100s of links to quickly googled articles and opinion pieces and ignoring any point they don't like or refusing to engage in any follow up questions.

You would also do well to learn the difference between facts, stats, evidence, and opinions.

Also was there any reason you decided to cut off the final part of my post when you quoted me?

Shaky evidence for Starmer’s attack on Johnson Brexit promise.
The Labour leader Keir Starmer was critical of Boris Johnson’s handling of the issue, telling MPs: “The Prime Minister said he had a deal. He didn’t. ”But the evidence Labour offered to support the claim doesn’t add up. Here’s why...

Bizarre thing to post in light of Sunak's Northern Ireland deal.

And it does rather glaringly emphasise that you can't find a fact check that suggests Johnson isn't a lying narcissist.

The poster posts facts and actual relevant links. The truth is inconvenient obviously but it's hardly 'whataboutery'.

You think accepting the standard payment for a one-off well-established programme is remotely relevant to responding to offers of way more money over a prolonged period of time from a Korean company without bothering to check them out?

Actually scrap that, you obviously know perfectly well it isn't.

Rhondaa · 26/03/2023 17:06

'You think accepting the standard payment for a one-off well-established programme is remotely relevant to responding to offers of way more money over a prolonged period of time from a Korean company without bothering to check them out?'

It's an example. As has been pointed out repeatedly they all take money for other roles/consultations. It isn't just The Evil Tories.

They should have checked them out I agree with that.

Well of course it is acceptable for nhs staff to eat and drink at work. That is the norm in a workplace.

A party however usually involves loud music, dancing and a bit of raucous fun. I'm sorry you've never experienced this and think a party is a soggy sandwich in a staff area Flowers.

Do you accept that Johnson was knowingly attending and allowing various gatherings which were directly in breach of the regulations? Was it a work gathering when his wife and interior decorator attended?

@Janiie You seem to be saying that presenting for the BBC is the same as being scammed by a company that doesn't exist.
I think I am starting to understand why you think that consuming alcohol and cake at a birthday party is work. Although any clarification you could share on why you think 56 year olds need birthday parties and not children we would all be very grateful

Rhondaa · 26/03/2023 17:42

'Do you accept that Johnson was knowingly attending and allowing various gatherings which were directly in breach of the regulations? Was it a work gathering when his wife and interior decorator attended?'

🥱

Well I'll answer as i have done a million times before, though tbf posts usually refer to the op.

They were at work, they were work gatherings. His wife lived on the premises and the decorator was there doing work. We had work done during lockdown I think I may have even given the workmen a kitkat each Shock.

Someone should have realised that they should have been stricter as it gave ammunition to his opponents but the gatherings BJ was at certainly couldn't be described as a party or 'rule breaking' unless you sadly think a party is a sandwich at work. Yes the Met gave fpns but I think we can all agree the Met don't always get it right.

And as he said they had the official photographer there why on earth would they taks photos if he 'knowingly attended illegal raves' or whatever. His birthday featured in the Times and no one bat an eye.

<Disclaimer we couldn't attend a funeral and we couldnt visit a relative in hospital not that it is comparable and I could actually understand it was to reduce spread in the community>.

@Janiie Are there other laws that you are happy with the Prime Minister breaking?
What about everyone else, are they allowed to break the law if they find them a bit inconvienent.

Notonthestairs · 26/03/2023 17:45

Workplace rules introduced by the Government and announced nightly on tv by Johnson were - meetings of no more than 2 unless essential for the purposes of work.

Definitions of whether you thought it was a decent party irrelevant.

They wanted their Brexit above all else. They'd have voted for the devil himself.

Ah yes. And that worked out well too 😏

Crikeyalmighty · 26/03/2023 18:34

I'm baffled how people can defend this current gvt and it's MPs - can only think the Tory PR department have infiltrated mumsnet. Labour may not be perfect but I don't think they are out to raid the countries coffers for personal gain

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 26/03/2023 18:34

I think people voted for Johnson because the alternative of Corbyn was laughably terrifyingly bloody ridiculous.
Labour needed a bloody huge shake up and to exclude the crazies but starmer is no Blaire and I don't think he would hold them off once in power.

If by the next election the economy is doing reasonably well, planes are seen to be taking migrants to Rwanda and all those on strike have got fed up, brexit seems to be done and crime seems to be down (or it's just black youngsters that are dying) 😡😡 Scotland independence is on the wane as the snp stays a joke it's perfectly possible the Tories will get back in.

Just my view on the British voters.

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 26/03/2023 18:40

The Tory PR has infiltrated mumsnet?

These comments always baffle me. Do you think everyone on mumsnet votes Labour? All users are left wing zealots.

Whisper... most voters vote for the best party or the party they think will best run the country. So most people have vioted for most parties during their adult lives.

I can't comprehend anyone blindly voting Labour or Tory regardless of the leader or policies. What idiot would vote for a Labour Party under Blaire and Corbyn???

2 totally different parties snd policies

Someone should have realised that they should have been stricter as it gave ammunition to his opponents

Someone should have realised that laws and guidelines also apply to them and if this someone wasn't sure what those laws and guidelines meant this someone could have consulted his legal team.

But then the Led by Donkeys video shows that some MP's can't even be bothered to check out a company that offers them a job.

Yellowdays · 26/03/2023 18:54

Yep. A bunch of entitled, incompetent and indolent arses, some of them liars.

Also, if anyone believes Johnson about the parties-only on Mumsnet. NOBODY believes it.
