Do you consider 5ft1/155cm height fur a woman very short or not in the realms of average height ?

I was always told as a child I'd be tall as an adult - by everyone around me - but my actual adult height is 5ft1/155cm. I'm female.

Definitely short

It's taller than me, I'm only 4 ft 10.
I'm dreading shrinking as I get older.

I'd say it's short but not freakishly so. I'm 5'3 and think of myself as below average.

At 5'4' thought of myself as average height and statistically I am, but as I've got older and the generations below reach adult height, I feel very much on the short side of average. Therefore I think at 5'1, you would be considered short.

I'm 5ft 1. I'm short. But I feel tall next to my 25 year old daughter who's 4ft 10

5'1 here look and feel v short (avg height in my country). I bought kid's shoes for a long time. A small % of my family are v short and others are very tall 6'+. Genetics is a strange thing.

It's short. I'm 5'1 and l was a tall kid, but l just stopped and everyone else kept going up. There's a photo of me with my sons and nephews who are all 6' plus and l look like a hobbit! 😆

Definitely below average. My eldest is an inch taller, and she is positively miniature compared to her peers. She used to hate it, then she remembered she can wear outrageous heels and look average, unlike her peers.

She has come to terms with her height, though does occasionally grouse at her dad, from whence the short genes came.

Shortish, I'm 5'3 and a bit on a good day. I was tall in primary school, my nickname was Lofty 😀I don't think I've grown much since puberty really and that was at 11.

Short. I'm the same height. I'm taller than my mum was, and she was taller than her mum.

My DP is a foot taller than me.

Advantages - being able to buy shoes in the kids section (my trainers were £28 compared to £42 for the adult ones)

Disadvantages - high shelves. Neck ache when I kiss my DP who is a foot taller. 😂

I'd think of it as very short. My mother is 5'3" and she is short to me.

we are a tall family though, dh is 6'2, ds is 6'3, I'm 5'10.

I’m 4ft 11 and by far the shortest out of everyone I know. Sometimes I see someone around the same height as me and think ‘blimey they’re short’ before realising we’re the same height.

Apart from not being able to reach high shelves or drive a few cars I’ve liked, my shortness hasn’t ever bothered me.

Totally short rather than average, petite clothing ranges tend to go up to 5-2 or 5-3. I’d say 5-5ish is average for a woman.

Definitely short. I think the average height in the UK for women is 5'4".

DD is 16 and is about 5ft 2. Out of 110 girls in her year at school only 8 are shorter. Kids are getting taller!

@LynnLardAssian I'm 5ft10 and go to hug friends and have to bend down. Think about 5ft5 is average. After my height only about 0.5% of women taller. Much bigger group of smaller women under 5ft1. The size 9 feet is a pain

My 11yo is 5ft and considered short at school!

I would find it short among younger women but more normal in a group of older women

Were you very tall as a child before puberty hit? That happened to several in my family, went from one of the tallest in primary to not getting any taller than 5ft2.

It used to be about average. I think in 1800s the average height was 5ft 2 but seemingly everyone is getting taller.

I’m an inch shorter than that and I’m very clear (and it’s always been made clear to me 😬) that it’s very short.

Its certainly quite small.

Im 60, 5 foot 4, the shortest in my family and average height with my friends.
