Neighbour rang the police on us!

Miss busy body next door has just called the police on us! 10 minute argument and I went off upstairs to bed with DS. We’re both absolutely knackered DS isn’t sleeping so this has taking a toll on us and this is what caused the argument.

she’s rang the police on a few people on the estate before over nothing really, nothing I’d get worked up about.

police have just came banging down our doors and windows blue lights shouting police !gave us the shock of our lives left within minutes as they seen we was fine.

We feel absolutely humiliated now! AIBU to go round in the morning or should I just leave it?

Were they the grammar police?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you!

We are only connected to her we have an alley in between the other house.I went out the front with the police too and the windows were twitching.

Who would live in a house with twitching windows?!

Thank you I know really I shouldn’t have posted here as no one will understand but sometimes you just want to talk to someone. But thank you for caring xx

Another OP who only really engages with those who respond with thexwords she wants to hear
The OP will never acknowledge that her and DSs behaviour was wrong: the neighbour will eternally be wrong, as will the responders here who do not agree with her

Architectahoy · 21/03/2023 07:01

I grew up in a shouty household and I've needed lots of therapy. Once the police were called on my parents and this is my most vivid memory from my primary school years. It isn't nothing.

If you're tired you need to choose a colour and use it to explain "irrational, irritable and overwhelmed" - e.g "DH, I am code green right now. I'm going upstairs"

Are you in a Housing Association / shared ownership property? These use cheaper materials to build party walls.

Sanctimonious much?

’Insist on working’?! Most of us don’t have a choice 🙄

OP didn’t ask for advice on her whole life set up. Talk about patronising. You may or may not be right, but I’m pretty sure new parents losing sleep and babies crying is entirely normal. Or are you going to tell us your babies never cried because you are just better at everything?

ExasperatedbyJanuary · 21/03/2023 07:05

Mutabiliss · 21/03/2023 06:39

@ExasperatedbyJanuary I think posters want others reading who may be in similar relationships to understand that it's not normal, it's not ok and you should maybe consider whether this is a healthy relationship that should continue.

Personally I'm never entirely sure whether any of the stories on here are true, but they will reflect someone's life and people don't have to accept that kind of treatment.

I think yours giving some of these posters too much credit, tbh. Do you think someone sneering about OP’s grammar or hot tub have her best interests at heart?! If they were so concerned, there wouldn’t be laughing emojis all over the place.

Given how perfect the majority of people are on here it really surprises me how our society isn’t utterly faultless.

Well stop bloody shouting loud enough to disturb your neighbours then. Ffs

I wish my neighbours would take this on board. Nobody is in danger. I would call the police if it was at that stage.
Just sick of hearing them shout at each other.

GrazingSheep · 21/03/2023 07:17

Your 2 primary age school children slept through 10 minutes of a shouting match in the house and the police arriving with sirens on, shouting and banging on the door??

Crumpetdisappointment · 21/03/2023 07:18

i called the police on shouting neighbour
they didnt bang on the door,
they came round quietly

ten minutes is a long time to be shouting.
lack of sleep caused this?

Abcdefgh1234 · 21/03/2023 07:19

Of course people argue with their partner. Me and my husband argue aswell. But no screaming at all. Especially not in front of the kids.

londonrach · 21/03/2023 07:23

Yes op you need to go around to apologise to your poor neighbour. Maybe some flowers too. Hope you don't scare your neighbour like that again shouting so loud.

GettingThereCharleyBear · 21/03/2023 07:23

@Lonelymum27 you’d be surprised how much children hear 😢. No one says parents don’t argue but we, as adults, do need to learn how to conduct ourselves in a way that doesn’t cause harm to our children. It’s incredibly hard but there is a lot of advice on line to help. I hope you can find a way through 🥰.

With respect, your normal isn’t everyone’s normal. It’s a wide world out there.

I have tried to point out times on MN.

This is AIBU any views expressed on here are not necessarily those of the person posting them.

It’s pointless posting on here and expecting honest answers.

User135644 · 21/03/2023 07:31

Why are you shouting and yelling? It's no way to communicate.

User135644 · 21/03/2023 07:32

Annon1234 · 20/03/2023 23:20

I thought people that don’t argue with their partners were mythical creatures but apparently they all just congregate on here. Who knew.

You can argue but there's absolutely no need to shout.

ferneytorro · 21/03/2023 07:33

Overthebow · 20/03/2023 23:27

of course I’ve argued, everyone does. But I don’t shout in front of my DC, even if I’m really angry with DH. I grew up in a house like that and it really messed me up.

I also grew up with parents who shouted and screamed . The noise the neighbours must have heard at times, I’d have welcomed someone ringing the police , may have made them think who knows. We were detached though unfortunately so not as affecting for them I suppose.

ancientgran · 21/03/2023 07:35

I'm impressed the police responded so quickly. They could have been saving a woman's life so with all the criticism of them let's acknowledge how positive that is.

123bumblebee · 21/03/2023 07:41

I grew up with parents who argued when we were in bed, I honestly think they think we slept through too. As an adult I can see they were going through an incredibly stressful time. But as a child I was terrified and ,of course, woke up and was scared in bed. I was upset as I thought my parents were divorcing and I had to listen to lots of stuff a young child shouldn’t worry about. I was an anxious, perfectionist child, never wanted to upset my parents. Still anxious today.

We are designed for our fight or flight to kick in when our safety is threatened, your children probably didn’t sleep through they were just scared in their beds awake. Please reflect on this, I would never be brave enough to tell my own parents this but I am being brave for your kids to tell you.

GottoHandit · 21/03/2023 07:45

As someone who lives next to a couple who often have explosive rows that sound really upsetting - 10 minutes is a long time to be shouting at each other.

She might be a ‘busy body’ but it’s not pleasant to hear people lose control and you never know if it’s going to flip over into physical violence. When it suddenly goes quiet - it can actually be more worrying.

Did the police actually tell you it was her that complained or are you putting two and two together?

I feel for you OP - no sleep is no fun. I hope you get some soon.

Yes. How helpful to OP. I expect she’s really grateful. I bet she’d never thought of taking maternity leave. Or paying for childcare. Well done you.
