Randoms using my wheelie bin for their dog shit!

dogpoobin · 17/03/2023 08:39

I'm fuming. Put my wheelie bin at the top of my driveway last night for collection today, it's fairly full so the top is slightly open. Just went out this morning (it hasn't been emptied yet) and noticed someone has placed two bags full of dog shit in my bin on top of my rubbish bags! AIBU or is this absolutely disgusting? I don't have a dog and I don't want dog shit in my bin.

Posters keep saying: take your dog's shit home with you, problem solved. Or words to that effect. But it's not problem solved, is it? Because we all know that this really has nothing to do with dog shit.

😂😂😂😂

It's literally the entire topic of the thread. So yes, it is problem solved if you take it home with you. Certainly from my point of view anyway!

@Mademetoxic

Ironic. You're giving it the same amount of headspace by returning to comment and telling me to "move on with my life". 🤷‍♀️

Eh?

Well another one that's missed the subtext? I genuinely don't know what else is going on here. Isn't this thread about whether it's acceptable to use a stranger's bin to dispose of dog poo🤔

KeHuyWinner · 18/03/2023 10:17

dogpoobin · 18/03/2023 09:09

@KeHuyWinner

You don't get to decide how angry or upset your behaviour makes others, though. It's obviously an "extreme" (in your view) reaction for a reason. People are entirely within their rights to react strongly to animal waste being put into their own personal bins. So just don't do it? Take it home? Easily solved.

What are you talking about? I don't have a dog.

I wasn't 'deciding' what people can or can't get extremely irrationally angry about either, I was observing that it IS an irrationally angry response.

You said yourself you were full of rage. Over a bag of dog poo being put in your outside bin. And you were making extreme judgments on the kind of person that did that.

Most people aren't saying 'you should not be upset about this' most people are saying you've gone off the scale in enragement about something that most people wouldn't, and that your response is disproportionate

But you've refused to see that and raged on and on.

dogpoobin · 18/03/2023 10:34

@KeHuyWinner

Again, you are deciding that my emotional response is "disproportionate". You don't get to decide that. It's a valid response and it's there for a reason.

For the people who think its ok. If you were walking past a bin & the householder was standing next to the bin would you just open the bin & put it in? I think not as you know it would be cheeky.

ShowOfHands · 18/03/2023 10:35

sjxoxo · 17/03/2023 08:53

If I’m walking and have a dog poo bag, I’ll admit sometimes I will put it in a wheelie bin. Always a black one though not recycling etc and I’ll always make sure it’s properly shut! I think lots of people do this… sorry it bothers you. It is a bin though and I wouldn’t mind someone putting it in my bin as long as it was properly sealed etc.

@sjxoxo I hope you check when you're out of area. Our black bins are the recycling bins. They're unmarked as well so you wouldn't know. General waste is green.

dogpoobin · 18/03/2023 10:36

@Mademetoxic

Again, as I've said previously, being angered by something does not mean that it is the "only" thing causing me stress. It is indeed possible til have multiple ongoing life stressors with varying degrees of impact. Whilst this event does come low down on my complete list of current life stressors, it nonetheless caused some level of upset. Is that ok?

This is gonna blow your mind....I've had people offer for me to put my full bag in their bin. Some people do not mind.

Also - if I was far away from a bin, or had my hands full, and someone was pulling their bin on to the curb to be emptied then yes, I would ask if it was about to be emptied and if so, would they mind me popping my bag on top.

dogpoobin · 18/03/2023 11:14

@DrMeredithGrey2023

I don't mind if someone had no space for a bag of household rubbish and I did, and it was bin emptying day. Of course I'd say no problem.

It's specifically dog shit I object to. And the lack of respect of not even asking.

Exactly this. They know it might piss someone off, otherwise they wouldn't mind being blatant about it.

This place is utterly bonkers.

if you’d been the random dog poo throw-in-binner and posted you’d put dog shit in someone else’s bin you’d have your arse handed to you and be told you’re lazy and should take it home.

I’m with you OP if I wanted shit in my bin I’d have a dog of my own. Plus even in bags it smells.

Exactly. Posters just love to pile onto a OP. It’s pathetic.

OP I really sympathise. I too wouldn’t like someone’s dog shit in my bin. Neither would most of the people on here who are falling over themselves to say how unreasonable you are.

I know that I am a bit weird about germs. Struggled massively with OCD- type issues for many years (not diagnosed but made me very miserable for a long time). I’m loads better now but still very twitchy about certain triggers- eg dog poo. And the thing is, I absolutely couldn’t have a dog because I couldn’t cope with poo duties! So why should I have to put up with other people’s dog shit on my property?

And, believe it or not, there are plenty of other people like me, people who genuinely will feel sick/anxious about dog faeces. It’s not that rare. So people shouldn’t just use other people’s bins. Some of us do pay to have our bins cleaned as they get smelly and they’re right by the back door.

As for ‘at least they’re picking it up , you should be grateful’ ?!!!! That sort of shite logic doesn’t usually work on here. What, so you should be grateful that someone does something less bad than a really awful misdemeanour?! So if someone nicks your bike, you should be grateful they didn’t nick your car?! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I've been outraged for 2 days too, and it wasn't even my bin. Didn't realise it wasn't allowed.

No it's probably not is it, so just take your dog shit home? Problem solved.

You also seem so angry that people have dared to say YABU!

So odd.
