Randoms using my wheelie bin for their dog shit!

I'm fuming. Put my wheelie bin at the top of my driveway last night for collection today, it's fairly full so the top is slightly open. Just went out this morning (it hasn't been emptied yet) and noticed someone has placed two bags full of dog shit in my bin on top of my rubbish bags! AIBU or is this absolutely disgusting? I don't have a dog and I don't want dog shit in my bin.

Dr meredith, no, they can put dog shit in my bin without coming on my property, I just don't appreciate having to clean it out when it breaks and festers, especially in the summer

Portia, whoah, the insults keep on coming, we've had anally retentive - now demented

Personal insults are often used when someone doesn't have the grounds and/or intelligence to construct a reasonable argument. It doesn't surprise me in all honesty.

Shame the dogs weren't anally retentive.

Not classy.

LifeAfterSchool · 18/03/2023 08:38

At least they bothered using a bin.

I witnessed a man brazenly just drop his poo bag on the pavement, while walking with his dog. I was driving past him at the time, busy road so others would have seen him too.

If this was a one off and my bin was being emptied this really wouldn’t bother me.

NotWastingAnymoreTime · 18/03/2023 08:41

Why are the only 2 options leave dog poo in the street or put it in somone elses bin. If the have bagged it just take it with you. If you can't stand the thought of walking a few paces with your own dog's poo in a bag then your not really cut out to be a dog owner.

@ZeldaWillTellYourFortune but this thread is about zOo/ experience, not yours? It was OPs question about her situation, where the bag wasn't split, where it was placed on top of a full bin, where it was due to be emptied, she Ashe AIBU?

The answer based on that is YABU!

The discussion in a ... wait for it ... discussion forum ... often moves beyond the specifics of the original question. As it has here.

Disingenuousity and coy obtuseness aren't as cute as you seem to think. Biscuit

I would either move my bin or get a bin lock.

GandhiDeclaredWarOnYou · 18/03/2023 08:53

I’ve been thinking this over, because it seemed wildly irrational to get so worked up for a full day about a poo bag in a bin about to be emptied. The level
of anger (and vitriol towards people who said they did the same) seems disproportionate to the annoyance.

I’ve got a theory.

Way back in the start of the thread OP mentioned bereavement.

In the months following my mum’s sudden death, the world seemed scary and unpredictable. I had big feelings and nowhere safe to put them. Things that were mildly irksome became outrageous. Things that were actively annoying became beyond the pale.

Sometimes when you’re dealing with stuff beyond your control, in my experience, you attach the emotions to something more manageable.

(In my case it was trying to roast a chicken. True story. I was batshit. I even named that damned thing by the end)

DizzyLizzyKizzy · 18/03/2023 08:59

@ZeldaWillTellYourFortune the question was from Op, AIBU?

The answer is, wait for it

*Yes!

@GandhiDeclaredWarOnYou

I'm struggling with many personal life issues currently, including bereavement as I mentioned. However, these things do not negate the valid annoyance I feel about this situation specifically. I'd be annoyed regardless. I find it genuinely disgusting and disrespectful to find an animal's shit in my personal wheelie bin, that someone has deliberately placed there. There's just no excuse for it - just take it home to your own bin? Any many others have shared my view on this on this thread. So this isn't just an overreaction on my part because of what else I'm dealing with. My annoyance about this is valid in its own right.

I agree it's possible. But the sheer level of rage exhibited by the OP seemed to be shared by a few others.

I would give no shits about someone putting a bag of dog faeces in my bin but that doesn't make me a better person. I could even see how some people would be annoyed. Especially when some posters talked about bags splitting and having to clean out their bins.

But the level of rage is disproportionate from the OP and some others. Entitled dirty fuckers? Disgusting people? Scum? Must be living in squalor? Hoping they put it in 'the wrong person's bin who rubs it all over their faces?'. Among other extreme comments.

When it's just about someone putting a bag of dog poo in a bin outside someone's house. Not saying it's okay, but the reaction is OTT. But OP doesn't seem to be alone in it.

dogpoobin · 18/03/2023 09:09

@KeHuyWinner

You don't get to decide how angry or upset your behaviour makes others, though. It's obviously an "extreme" (in your view) reaction for a reason. People are entirely within their rights to react strongly to animal waste being put into their own personal bins. So just don't do it? Take it home? Easily solved.

I would give no shits about someone putting a bag of dog faeces in my bin - haha, I see what you did there! 😁

It is revolting though - and entitled. I don't feel like carrying it home so I'll put it in your bin as it's handy. 🤢

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 18/03/2023 09:15

I think if it started happening regularly (and at least one pp has said they would do this on purpose if they knew it upset the person whose bin it was) then I would get a gravity lock put on my bin.

ToughOleBird · 18/03/2023 09:16

We have a neighbour who puts his dog crap in which ever bin he passes when the dog craps. If it craps on someone’s grass, he puts the poo in their bin. The bins are not that far apart either. He knows exactly what he’s doing, he just doesn’t want the stink in his bin. It’s not on OP, they should carry their rubbish home with them. I see the sheeple are out in force on this one.

Not good for the blood pressure though!

No it's probably not is it, so just take your dog shit home? Problem solved.

ChocSaltyBalls · 18/03/2023 09:23

This place is utterly bonkers.

if you’d been the random dog poo throw-in-binner and posted you’d put dog shit in someone else’s bin you’d have your arse handed to you and be told you’re lazy and should take it home.

I’m with you OP if I wanted shit in my bin I’d have a dog of my own. Plus even in bags it smells.

Crikey you're giving this too much headspace.

The bin has been emptied. Move on with your life.

NotWastingAnymoreTime · 18/03/2023 09:29

Well now people know that it upsets some people, even if the upset are pressumed the minority, what now?

This thread should be used as an education. To be honest I don't think it's rocket science that some people wouldn't like this. Even if personally some people find it ridiculous. Therefore as we don't know who those people are continuing to place your dog poo in someone elses bin just makes you entitled as you have no idea how the bin owner feels about it. Walking to a public bin or taking it home should not inconvenience you.

Alternatively, those who don't mind could lable their bins so that dog walkers/owners know which ones to target? Problem solved.

redboxer321 · 18/03/2023 09:38

Posters keep saying: take your dog's shit home with you, problem solved. Or words to that effect. But it's not problem solved, is it? Because we all know that this really has nothing to do with dog shit.
