Randoms using my wheelie bin for their dog shit!

I'm fuming. Put my wheelie bin at the top of my driveway last night for collection today, it's fairly full so the top is slightly open. Just went out this morning (it hasn't been emptied yet) and noticed someone has placed two bags full of dog shit in my bin on top of my rubbish bags! AIBU or is this absolutely disgusting? I don't have a dog and I don't want dog shit in my bin.

@Rinkydinkydoodle

The reason I shared was because there seems to be a disagreement about whether you should put faeces in strangers’ bins.

I see your point. Have to say, you were much more understanding about the nappy incident than I would have been, although I guess there's not too much that can be done about it.

my shit, my problem

Have you considered marketing those inspirational wall plaques? I'd much prefer this to "Live, laugh, love" or "Dance like nobody's watching" 😃
In fact, you could do a "Your shit, your problem" to hang on wheelie bins.

(I'll expect a cut if you make a fortune from this)

horseyhorsey17 · 17/03/2023 12:10

So you took shit out of the bin and chucked it on the floor for everyone else to tread in? You sound lovely.

Read my post: it went in the gutter. Yes I am lovely, thank you.

Ariela · 17/03/2023 12:59

We have this - but unfortunately I rarely need to put out my general bin, just the recycling. Since lockdown, several weeks I've had bags of dog poo popped in my bin while we are out at work on bin day (we are on a good long drive out-and -park dog walk route) presumably from people from a different area who don't know the colour of bin is for recycling and unfortunately has meant my bin was not emptied. While it's good the poo bags have not been hung on trees (another issue, I know) it is annoying.

Had my normal bin been out I probably would have been none the wiser!

Train007 · 17/03/2023 13:00

I definitely wouldn’t get worked up about it . Much rather it ends up in a bin rather than treading in it TBH .

fortifiedwithtea · 17/03/2023 13:01

Not read the whole thread because Jesus its 12 pages long. But if the history still exists I made the exact post years ago. Except the random dog shit had been placed in my wheelie bin after collection. Meaning I had to keep random shit for 2 weeks until it was wheelie bin day again. I was not happy.

I got several pages of split views. Some said its a bin and others said disgusting. People told me to take my bin in earlier. I still see my random dog poo depositor. But nowadays I have my own shit machine dog so our bin permanently stinks. I honestly wouldn’t notice one more turd.

And what its worth I still think its gross to put rubbish in other peoples bins.

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 17/03/2023 13:03

I did the same, last summer during the heat wave my bins had just been emptied minutes before. The bin men were still within earshot. It would be sitting in the heat for two weeks, and some asshole dumped his dog waste in it.

I tipped the bag onto the pavement. It was bright teal blue, clearly from his packet of bags. On his next go-round he saw it and looked all around and then sheepishly picked it up. I went out and castigated him, asking why he thought I'd want his dog's shit fermenting in a hot bin near my door for two weeks; he lives in the neighbourhood and clearly knew the pickup schedule and had seen and heard the bin being emptied.

He just stood there looking like an entitled, middle-aged dunce, but he hasn't done it again. In fact I think he even avoids my street now. Good riddance.

DogsDryWineAndCheese · 17/03/2023 13:03

I’m struggling to see the impact it has on your life, especially for a bin that is about to be emptied. YABU

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 17/03/2023 13:03

If you have the headspace to be pissed off and angry and furious about a bagged poo being put in a bin that is just about to be emptied then may I suggest a hobby?

If the bin had been emptied, or the person had come on to the property to do it, I can understand being annoyed.

Imagine thinking you can control someone's dog shitting near your gate post too 🤣🤣🤣

Itsmyturnnow1 · 17/03/2023 13:06

It’s a bin. They’re not putting it in your garden and their dog isn’t shitting on your drive… it’s being emptied so how does this affect you?! Really doesn’t bother me and I have in fact done it and put a bagged poo in someone else’s bin!

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 17/03/2023 13:06

Sofitella · 17/03/2023 11:46

But the wheelie bin is actually owned by the council? It’s not technically your bin. It is the bin the council have allocated to your property

I don’t know how anyone can even think this is an issue.

It's a rented piece of equipment paid for, used by and maintained by the private resident. It's not a public facility even though the vendor happens to be the council.

All of the people desperately trying to excuse and justify this rudeness are laughable. Carry your shit home with you or find a public disposal bin.

DidyouNO · 17/03/2023 13:12

I completely agree with you OP. We had this but my husband saw him and asked to remove it. He grumpily did. I wouldn't dream of putting poo from my animals or my little humans in someone else's bin. Have some respect. Mind you dog owners think they can do anything these days.

OoooohMatron · 17/03/2023 13:22

horseyhorsey17 · 17/03/2023 11:10

If by 'standards' you mean 'obsessing about bins' then I'm happy to do without them. Life is too short.

I don't think objecting to a bin stinking of shit is a particularly high standard. It would be crawling with maggots in summer.

SemperIdem · 17/03/2023 13:23

I have a dog, it would occur to me to put a poo bag in someone else’s bin. I had no idea other people did that!

I wouldn’t have put my child’s nappy in someone else’s bin, when they were still wearing them, either. It just wouldn’t have occurred to me to do that.

SemperIdem · 17/03/2023 13:23

^would not…

Other people have a life.

A smelly disgusting life by the sounds of it. No thanks.

You can put a dead body in my bin for all I care to be honest

So you are upset by the thought of a bag of shit in a bin?
Or is it the CFery?

I've not said I'm bothered personally but I can see how some people would be.

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 17/03/2023 13:33

A smelly disgusting life by the sounds of it. No thanks.

Do you really think that the condition of someone's outside bin is an indication of their cleanliness and hygiene level as a whole??

Jazzy21 · 17/03/2023 13:34

Yeah that’s gross. YANBU.

fUNNYfACE36 · 17/03/2023 13:44

Yanbu.i am a amazed at hiw rude the average MNer is.
I posted on our village FB page about someone doing thus ( except it was not bin day and they entered my garden) and everyone agreed it was CFery

dogpoobin · 17/03/2023 13:45

@DannyZukosSmile

I think you are my spirit animal 😂
We clearly share a similar level of rage and disgust about this!

HurryShadow · 17/03/2023 13:46

I'd be annoyed if someone was walking up my driveway to use my bin, but if it's out for collection I couldn't be getting worked up about it either.

I wouldn't do it myself partly (mostly!) because I don't have a dog, and partly because I know it's a divisive topic, but I wouldn't worry if someone used mine.

My neighbours and I will often use each others' bins if one of us is lacking in space (doesn't happen so much nowadays with the amount that gets recycled).

Mine normally contains dead mice/bits of dead mice, thanks to DCat, so a bit of dog shit can't make it smell much worse!

Oddly enough I got exactly the same response from a local man when I admonished him for letting his dog defecate on my drive. I was walking up our lane towards him (there are no footways) and I watched him stop and let his dog squat there. I arrived as the mutt was mid dump and, although not aggressively confrontational, I made my displeasure very clear.

His reaction? Nothing. No response, no apology, just a blank, vacant stare.

He hasn't done it since, though. We now say a pleasant 'hello' if we happen to pass in the lane.

DuesToTheDirt · 17/03/2023 13:52

I agree with you OP.

And if it were put in my landfill bin just before it was emptied, I probably wouldn't even notice, but I've had it put in an empty bin, that won't be picked up again for 2 weeks, and even in my recycling bin! So obviously I have to fish that out (nice)! Hmm After 3 or 4 times of getting dog poo in the recycling bin I painted on it, "No dog poo", "Take your poo home," and amazingly despite me thinking they'd be morons who couldn't read it worked.
