To think Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t have a ‘wellness routine’

She has an eating disorder?

she’s given an interview saying her ‘wellness’ typical day consists of an early Palo dinner of vegetables then a fast til noon the next day ( with coffee only in the morning) when she has bone broth. Repeat.
she then takes IV drips for the nutrients that she’s essentially NOT getting from food, as she’s barely eating.

HOW is this wellness - it’s a starvation routine. How is this in a wellness podcast?

She does eat.. just not a huge amount but I don't think it is any less healthy than people stuffing their face with junk. Most people eat WAY too much and don't move enough. Just look around
You don't have to starve yourself to be thin which is the common myth spouted on here all the time, presumably by people who are overweight.

Are we watching the same video? She looks gaunt. Her skin looks very pale and fragile and her hair is thin.

She is obviously still really very beautiful, but she does not look "well".

But she is starving herself. Otherwise she would not need IV vitamin drips.

People in decades gone by were skinny in their 20's and 30's and few people were obese, but it was still normal for people in middle age onwards to gain weight.

There is also a healthy middle ground between eating disorder and morbidly obese.

That is my exact point though. That people being criticsed or viewed with suspicion because they're size 4s or 6s, surely are the same people who in 1970 would have been the average person.

Look at any old film from the 30s onward and people were very very slim. But they werent that different from the general population.

So the general population didnt have swathes of eating disorders, they just didnt eat like we do now.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 15/03/2023 11:52

The idea of an IV vitamin drip being a totally normal part of a healthy person's day is just so bonkers.

foxandbee · 15/03/2023 11:53

Yes they were but they also looked healthy.

Endlesssummer2022 · 15/03/2023 11:53

I don’t believe her. She’s saying this as it’s ‘on-brand’ for her company Goop which peddles expensive or unachievable wacky shit to gullible people who want to feel they are part of an elite women’s group.

She probably missed out the bit where she smokes and she should start to include cutting her split ends in to her wellness routine.

Although I think a lot of them used speed to suppress appetite. And smoked a lot!

‘I think she looks incredible’

which is after all the most important thing?

I hope teenage girls aren’t looking at her, her brand, her products and thinking the same thing.

i promise no teenage girl is looking at 50 year old gwyneth or goop for body inspiration.

or maybe 10 of them are

Ahhh boiled water flavoured with bones , my fave 🤮
Another was Goldie Hawns pan of boiled chicken feet- yum.

Does anyone actually follow these things and what do they hope to achieve….

foxandbee · 15/03/2023 11:56

And some stars paid a very high price to stay thin...

She’s incredibly self obsessed. But not that surprising I guess when your entire career is based on how you look. It’s sad that society views that sort of narcissistic behaviour as aspirational 🙁

Suzi888 · 15/03/2023 11:59

I don’t think GP looks great to be honest. She looks pale and gaunt-maybe something to do with the toxic air she gets blown up her ass - ozone therapy or whatever.

Jennifer Aniston looks radiant and glowing by comparison.

I make bone broth using organic chicken carcasses and chicken feet. The feet provide collagen. Bone broth is actually incredibly nutritious and good for the bones, joints and skin. It's also very good for the gut.

I drink it most days and definitely notice it in my skin when I don't.

Aquamarine1029 · 15/03/2023 12:08

Gwyneth Paltrow is a total fraud who will saying anything if she thinks it will make people want to buy her Goop bullshit.

SkyandSurf · 15/03/2023 09:38

really irresponsible of media outlets to publish that and call it wellness

Agree.

The risk of infection from IV drips is huge.

LaurieFairyCake · 15/03/2023 12:11

My mother and ALL her mates took masses of amphetamines and chain smoked 40-80 a day

I remember the day she cut down from 60 to 40 cigarettes Hmm - she was grumpy as fuck

Loads of screen stars took cocaine/cocktails of speed

The bottom line is if you want to be very slim you have to eat very little and work out a lot

I eat 1000 calories a day or less (I've had weight loss surgery) and I'm still 2 stone overweight because I'm menopausal and have a VERY sedentary lifestyle

WeCome1 · 15/03/2023 12:12

She says she has a ‘paleo dinner - lots of vegetables’ which in her speech sounds more like she means ‘paleo dinner with lots of vegetables’. Paleo is high protein isn’t it, so there will be meat, fish, eggs or something too. She isn’t saying she only eats vegetables.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 15/03/2023 12:14

I think she's a smoker too. These wellness types always have a habit or two at odds with what they preach. In Hollywood smoking is probably more socially unacceptable than doing a few lines after your bone broth.

So basically chicken stock? But presumably that it not all you eat?

It’s not a very nourishing lunch though.

for lunch or when ever you have it.

LaurieFairyCake · 15/03/2023 12:18

The woman is eating ONE MEAL a day

  1. Morning - coffee (definitely not a meal)
  1. Lunch - bone broth (water with bone jelly, also not a meal)
  1. Fish or meat plus veg (the actual meal)
  1. Vitamin drips (completely not a meal)

She's eating what, 500-700 calories?

That's why she's Uber-thin - I would be thin on that...

highfidelity · 15/03/2023 12:24

foxandbee · 15/03/2023 12:17

No, it's not chicken stock. Bone broth is simmered anywhere between 24-36 hours. It's far more concentrated than stock and when cold, turns into a jelly. It also tastes different to stock too. There's a lot of misconceptions about bone broth and it being the same as stock is one of them.

On occasion I do a bone broth fast, but no, I eat other food.

Sparklesocks · 15/03/2023 12:17

In your opinion.

I have had just bone broth for lunch and will continue to do so but I also eat breakfast and dinner. Can't say I have ever suffered just having some bone broth instead of food for a meal.
