To applaud Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Ian Wright, and think Suella Braverman is looking like a fool for not even understanding the comment

Nimbostratus100 · 10/03/2023 19:44

Lineker called the immigration policy cruel, and compared the language and attitude of the government to 1930s Germany.

I hundred percent agree with him

Braverman started denying that anything that is happening in UK is comparable to the holocaust

She is spectacularly missing the point. The holocaust didn't happen in the 1930s

What happened in the 1930s was the slow and steady build up of racism and aggression and hate, that resulted in the holocaust in the 1940s

And the noises coming out of the government are very much like 1930s nazis

For those of you that don't have any interest in Match of the Day, Gary Lineker, the main presenter, has been suspended, in spite of being a sports commentator, and NOT a news reader or involved in current affairs programming, and NOT bound by the impartiality clause, and his two top fellow presenters have refused to appear without him

So either the BBC bosses (tory appointees) have scored a spectacular own goal,(unintended pun) in trying to supress Lineker's opinions, and turning them into world wide headlines,

OR!

Maybe they are secretly working against the government by choosing a course of action that will actually make the tories look like complete fools, while pretending to support them!

There is such a deviation from accepted mumsnet values when it comes to channel migrants.

In any other scenario, on any other thread, it’s ‘women and children first, regardless of men’s feelings’. Especially when it comes to trans issues - the feelings of 1,000 transwomen are seen as an acceptable price to pay for the safety of 1 woman (I agree with this, before anyone starts).
On this topic (presumably because they’re desperate to be seen as left wing and the men involved are not white), it’s ‘right wing’ to suggest the safety of women needs to be considered when allowing 30,000 unverified men from patriarchal countries into the U.K. 🤷🏼‍♀️ What’s more, the women and children left to confront the regimes the men abandoned aren’t even mentioned.
Everyone complains about the lack of infrastructure and public services, yet are giving the green light to letting hundreds of these men in every day.

None of it makes sense 🤷🏼‍♀️

Don't like Gary Linekar but he's 💯 right on this one. Glad to see others are backing him

So your main issue is your lack of “access” (🤮) to women? Maybe that isn’t due to immigrants, maybe it’s because you’re a rape-apologist misogynistic racist incel.

Our government can say whatever they like since there is freedom of expression. We voted them in so I don't think their views are unreasonable and are likely shared by the majority in the country.

I’m yet to see a single post on here advocating for open borders, so if that’s all you want to debate, maybe take your creepy rapey arguments to some corner of the internet where people are advocating for that?

BewareTheLibrarians · 11/03/2023 01:04

@Moonicorn If you seriously believe that, I suggest you go back and read my post of about half an hour ago. The one where I said the solution was not open borders but safe routes that would allow priority for women and children. A plan that many many (lefty?) asylum and refugee charities and immigration lawyers support.

So do I. Maybe he can put a few up, I'm sure he's got a spare bedroom or two.

He already does….

What are ’safe routes’? Can anyone enlighten me as to what this actually means, what it would look like?

MarshaMelrose · 11/03/2023 01:07

Florenz · 11/03/2023 01:00

Do we not?

No cull. Just incentivise and normalise having no children or one child. Make that the norm. If you want multiple children, be prepared to pay the costs involved instead of expecting other people to pay.

The Chinese tried this and it was a disaster for them. They didnt change that rule to make the Chinese happy!

Yes I do. They should both be able to express their views, I just don't agree with what he says but he should be allowed to say it. It was a horrible thing to say.

He really is a disgrace and most normal people are against him. He doesn't have to live with the negative effects of porous borders, normal hard-working people do. It's a massive mistake for the left to adopt him as some kind of cause celebre, he appeals massively to the Guardian reader types who are always going to vote Labour, but is a massive turn-off to everyday people, at least some of which Labour needs to vote for them to win an election.

You think women are, on average, 7 times weaker and smaller than men?

That might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever read (and I’ve read some of your other posts too).

MavisMcMinty · 11/03/2023 01:11

Sweet zombie Jeebus. Can we all just ignore the Big Red Troll, please?

I mean after this post, obviously.

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/03/2023 01:14

@BigRed98, women are not a lost cause, they just don't want to be with you because you're a racist, creepy, rape apologist.🤷‍♀️

BewareTheLibrarians · 11/03/2023 01:15

@Moonicorn Love that you can write a thousand words blaming the left for men being physically strong enough to do a journey that’s too dangerous for women and children to do, but can’t lift a finger to google what a safe route could be. 😁

Ukraine scheme sound familiar? Visas & biometrics were processed overseas in Ukraine or other European countries, so people eligible for the visa could then fly directly to the UK. Meaning women and children could safely make the journey.

Interestingly, no one criticises Ukrainian refugees for travelling through multiple safe countries to get to the UK. I don’t know a single Ukrainian refugee who flew directly from Ukraine (I’m guessing it would have been too dangerous with Russian troops approaching Kyiv). They went through Poland. Germany. Slovakia. Czechia. Hungary. France. As was their right.
