My DH doesn’t have the legs, but at least this guy is not wearing lipstick and a wig, and dresses his top half like man. His wife helps him choose the clothes.

That's a no from me.

LimitIsUp · 10/03/2023 12:05

He can wear what he likes but I personally don't find this look attractive (for a man or a woman to be perfectly honest)

AllOfThemWitches · 10/03/2023 12:05

Not sure my bf has the legs for it

miawallacesfeet · 10/03/2023 12:05

No, dated and not for me. Hate the awkward hand on hip pose too

IhearyouClemFandango · 10/03/2023 12:05

TBH, people can wear anything. I wouldn't be attracted to my husband in heels I don't think, but as long as this chap isn't claiming that the skirt/heels make him an actual woman he can crack on. He looks way better than I would in those skirts too. A man in a skirt, why not?

Needmorelego · 10/03/2023 12:06

I saw these pictures a couple of years ago. I wonder if he still dresses like that.
I personally think he looks ridiculous - not because he is wearing skirts and heals but because he is wearing an incredibly dated style of skirts and heals. I rarely see women dressed like that unless they are older and they started their careers back in the 80/90s.

Whichwhatnow · 10/03/2023 12:06

DH sometimes wears skirts (usually at partes/festivals etc rather than day to day). Sadly he doesn't have this man's legs but he still looks pretty good! Not heels though, I think he'd fall over within seconds of trying to walk in them 😅

I don't see any issue with this - as PP have mentioned, he's not claiming that he's a woman just cos he's put a skirt on and he's not dressing as some overly sexualised caricature of what he thinks a woman should be. Clothes in themselves should be genderless IMO.

Changeforachange · 10/03/2023 12:06

Why has this guy popped up again? I remember debating this year's ago.

I support what he's saying 100% - clothes are clothes & he's not claiming his attire makes him anything but a male in a skirt. Hurrah!

I do feel weird seeing it though - I've grown up in a gendered society & were not used to seeing men in skirts as a wardrobe option for work, it's outside my norm but that's my issue to get over.

However, if I rocked up to work in a mini skirt or strappy clubbing heels at 44, let alone 63 - I suspect I'd be given side eye & it would diminish my authority. Yet this guy is celebrated.

Its the double standard that fucks me off.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 10/03/2023 12:06

Isn’t this how Eddie Izzard started out? Now look.

PolkaDotMankini · 10/03/2023 12:07

He can wear whatever clothes he wants as long as he doesn't claim they miraculously alter his biology.

picklemewalnuts · 10/03/2023 12:08

There's so much junk on the page I can't see when that was published.
He's been in the news before. I'm not a fan. I don't care what he wears, but I can't imagine enjoying his company.

Because of how women's clothing is perceived, those are attention seeking, provocative clothes. I don't enjoy the company of attention seeking provocative men.

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 10/03/2023 12:08

I wouldn't like it if my partner wore this - but men dressed in women's clothing, even for fancy dress, gives me the sexual ick, and I want to find my partner attractive.

All the above being said, I couldn't give a shit what anyone else wears, as long as they are comfortable. It's irrelevant to every other man in the world if they give me the ick. No one has to dress to please others.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 10/03/2023 12:08

Yep, I bet he doesn’t get called mutton either.

Itsmyturnnow1 · 10/03/2023 12:08

It’s up to him if he wants to wear that but I wouldn’t find my husband attractive if he decided to wear that! I like the masculinity of a man.

MyOwnVolt · 10/03/2023 12:08

Although I think everyone should be able to wear whatever the hell they like it’s be a hard no from me 😂

MenopauseSucks · 10/03/2023 12:08

I think the heels are a little too high.
He looks much better in the boots in the garage.
I trust he's using his money not family money to buy such expensive shoes.

He's a straight man - adult human male - wearing his clothes not a woman's clothes in the same way women wear trousers.
I think skirts should be more unisex.

I just hope he doesn't start saying 'I'm a woman...'

Give it time

PigeonPlayingChicken · 10/03/2023 12:10

Mark, a robotics engineer, said: "I see clothes as genderless, and I love the freedom I get from being able to wear both men's and women's clothes. Yeah, that's what Izzard used to say.

determinedtomakethiswork · 10/03/2023 12:10

I think he looks awful, really old-fashioned. If I was his wife, I wouldn't want my name in the paper either.

I wouldn't want to have sex with him if he came home like that.

NameChangeFor2023 · 10/03/2023 12:10

theescapeladder · 10/03/2023 11:56

He looks great!
As long he doesn't start claiming that high heels and a skirt make him a Woman+ 🤭

Feminine clothing can look great on men just as masculine clothing can be worn by women and there's nothing wrong with that.

My first thought. It's a step to proving that wanting to wear a skirt doesn't mean you're not a man.

I wouldn't want my husband wearing it, but to each their own.

GandhiDeclaredWarOnYou · 10/03/2023 12:11

After Eddie Izzard I’m not sure anymore.

I was fine with people wearing whatever they wanted, “total clothing rights”. I loved the New Romantics, and have a soft spot for a bit of guyliner. I think Harry Styles looks great playing with fashion conventions. Billy Porter is an icon.

But then Eddie had to piss on everyone’s chips - “girl-mode” and “Suzy” and invading women’s spaces.

As a result I am less fine with men in traditionally feminine clothes because I no longer trust that it’s just about style.

GrumpyPanda · 10/03/2023 12:11

Better him than me! Those heels look painful.

BertaHoon · 10/03/2023 12:11

He rocks the look for sure. But... I wouldn't be sexually attracted to him dressing like that. So on the off chance I did have a husband, it would be a no from me. Friend, colleague no problem.

But if you describe anything a woman wears as attention seeking and provocative on here you will get jumped on and told women should be able to wear what they like……

Yes...

This came up before. At the time I thought it was absolutely fine and this man was breaking gender norms, etc. etc.

After listening to the perspectives of some transwidows on a similar thread, and watching the evolution of Eddie Izzard over the last two years (now known as Suzie, btw, the name of his dead girlfriend), I'm much more cynical about this guy's motives.

If he were wearing a kilt, or a baggier skirt and flat shoes, I'd be less cynical.
