Please help me settle an argument (lighthearted)

Bananas and custard!

DP and I fancied some for tea tonight. (Relatively new relationship so our first time of making this delicacy.)
I put the cut up banana in the saucepan along with the custard so that the banana can cook.
DP looks horrified. He's only ever poured the hot custard over the cold cut up banana in the bowl.
So who is being unreasonable?

Cooked? Only after sea swimming, slit banana longways once, tuck pieces of dark chocolate under skin, wrap in foil and bung in the hot white coals of a beach BBQ. Choc melts. Unearth and eat piping hot.

I'm sure liberal amounts of brandy or rum should also be involved

I put the hot custard in the bowl and slice the banana on top, so cold banana.

Well I bloody am now 😡😂I fear that might show our age...

Obviously the correct answer was cold banana, hot custard- but I was horrified to discover that my XH expected the banana to be mashed up and then have the custard mixed in. Should've known then that he was going to be an X.

Add sliced banana right near end of heating up the custard. It flavours the custard that way but still resembles bananas slices. Not mush.
