Please help me settle an argument (lighthearted)

Bananas and custard!

DP and I fancied some for tea tonight. (Relatively new relationship so our first time of making this delicacy.)
I put the cut up banana in the saucepan along with the custard so that the banana can cook.
DP looks horrified. He's only ever poured the hot custard over the cold cut up banana in the bowl.
So who is being unreasonable?

My mum used to put a little jam at the bottom of each dessert bowl then custard was poured over cut up banana. It went in the fridge to chill and then was topped with dessicated coconut. I've never made it myself but think I need to introduce my children to this so they know how to do it right, incase any future partners may try to cook the banana! 😲

Bloody hell that sounds amaaaazing. I need to make that at the weekend.

I actually cannot stand custard in either form but hypothetically if I was eating it if would definitely be cold bananas. Cooked banana 🤢🤢🤢🤢

Like @UndertheCedartree my mum used to cut up the cold banana, pour the hot custard over it, let it go cold/chill it and serve it all cold.
No jam or dessicated coconut here, but that sounds lush!!
I haven't had banana custard since I got married 30 years ago, but I fancy it SO much right now!!

Well he's eaten it but is delighted that the vote has gone in his favour. Will try it his way next time.

Oh I love bananas and custard. I have bananas but no custard, and now I'm sitting here craving hot custard poured over cold banana, as it should be.
