I love nice / new socks and so do my partner & kids!

I have bought my sons girlfriend earrings, a hair thing and some socks. Just thinking if others don’t share the love of socks this might be a dull present!

I get a pair every year in my stocking, I get the ones that are worn by burly scotsmen with their kilts. I have very muscular calves and they fit the best. Really selling myself aren't I?

Another one for Odd Socks , lovely designs and not too expensive .

Remagirl · 03/03/2023 23:32

I love nice socks too

Socks are a great present, especially for men and people who have everything. BUT.... they must be nicer, and probably more expensive than you would buy for yourself. A pair of nice socks arrive every month, on subscription, as (part of) DH's Christmas present.

The merino wool socks from this company on the US site are $57 a pair. That's way more than I would spend on a pair of socks for myself.

Unfortunately me and my 3 siblings hate socks as presents lol we would rather have oranges...we are all in our 30s..once gave them to my 4 kids al under 12 and didn't particularly excite they were more interested in there books

Most kids hate socks as lresent. I think it was only when I moved out it turned around in me😂 Good quality socks I wouldn't buy myself are top gift now!

@Starryskiesinthesky

I mean I love socks however the ones you put a photo up are a bit manly for me I like really nice ladies socks! I often buy them as gifts I think people like them and at Christmas I buy lots of socks, always well received

zingally · 04/03/2023 12:40

I'd be polite, but the socks would simply go into the pile of "socks I never wear". But that's just because I'm fussy about socks! I have some sensory issues around my feet, and only tolerate certain styles/brands/material.

Starryskiesinthesky · 04/03/2023 12:51

Ok wondering if these ones would be better - it’s for a 23 year old female.

I like them but then I do love socks! I'll have them if she doesn't want them 😂

ConsuelaHammock · 04/03/2023 12:55

My husband’s favourite present are alpaca socks. They are expensive so obviously he doesn’t get them very often.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 04/03/2023 12:55

OP these are what I have bought my daughter. I can imagine these going down well with a 23 year old.

Cosy sleep socks make an acceptable gift. Others do not. Unless related to a hobby or interest.

Turtletotem · 04/03/2023 15:23

I prefer the first ones so does my daughter who said ooh they look like fancy bamboo ones 😊

Biker47 · 04/03/2023 15:26

I think they're a rubbish present, unless specifically asked for I think basic or regular items as presents are pretty poor, as and when I need socks, I'll just buy them.

They're lovely. I'd be very happy receiving them (27), as would my sister (21)

ThrowAwayOne · 04/03/2023 15:27

Yes to the second pair.

I've gone from being a wtf, socks? type of receiver to ohhh lovely, socks! so I guess it's an age thing but I do know teens are into designer socks at the minute so yes I'd go ahead and add them.

MumOf2workOptions · 04/03/2023 17:21

@Starryskiesinthesky

Celtic & co are not a young brand they're a bit old fashioned maybe something a bit trendier!!!

ImAnExcavator · 04/03/2023 17:51

I love socks and think fancy socks are a great gift. I remember SIL getting me a fancy pair of woolen socks for xmas when I was 27, I found out I was pregnant a few days later and saved them for my hospital bag! I would be happy with either of those pairs of socks.
