The cyclist fault! She shouldn't be on the pavement!

Logicoutofthewindow · 02/03/2023 19:32

@monsteramunch it appears that @JackiePlace hasn't read and understood the article, hasn't seen the footage and read any news reports at all. If she had done those things she would see what the court saw and understood why the defendant was found guilty and sentenced. Hopefully @JackiePlace understands what the defendant did was wrong and led to the death of an innocent woman.

Even when it's a shared space?

Says who?

and are you suggesting if a cyclist does do something wrong they deserve to die?

piedbeauty · 02/03/2023 19:34

Grey indirectly caused a death. So she should be punished. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Well I hope you’re satisfied with the ultimate punishment she received for being on the pavement

One more time for the semi-literate folks defending this woman.

It was a shared path for cyclists and pedestrians.

And even if it wasn’t, that would not excuse the killing of the victim.

NomiMacaroni · 02/03/2023 19:34

The fact that she didn't stay to see if the woman was ok and went to go and.buy groceries shows how callous she is

Thebestwaytoscareatory · 02/03/2023 19:37

It's always amazing to see how much the age, gender, and physical appearance of the perpetrator changes people's opinions.

If Grey had been a 25 year old, 6'2", body builder with tats not a single person would be questioning the decision, in fact I'd wager many would be moaning about "soft touch justice".

Liceylicey · 02/03/2023 19:38

She should be in prison

Absolutely.

Let's hope jail is very very hard and unpleasant for her. I'm done reading the posts of morons defending her. You should all be absolutely ashamed of yourselves.

Familyiness · 02/03/2023 19:42

@Donnashair and that was my assessment of it too. And clearly the judge thought the same.
Just a bit of give and take was all that was needed. Plenty of room there for both.
And I personally wouldn't like the thought of a 77 year old having to ride on the road.
Just because she is disabled doesn't give her a free pass to act like that.
Totally deserves to be locked up.
Also mobility scooters go much faster, but yet no one bats an eyelid at them being on the path. I nearly had my ankles taken out by one, who didn't even bother to alert me he was behind me, never said excuse me or anything.
Disabled and elderly are just as capable of being nasty and rude as anyone else.

Apparently she has no family or friends and it looks like she’ll lose her home and possessions.

That helps a bit, but it’s still seems like a pitifully light sentence.

Mojoj · 02/03/2023 19:44

I watched the footage. It was an accident. No way she should have been jailed.

FitAt50 · 02/03/2023 19:45

Nooyoiknooyoik · 02/03/2023 15:40

Yes. It was an accident.

She caused the "accident", left the women dying in the road and went shopping. How would you feel if the victim was your mother?

monsteramunch · 02/03/2023 19:46

Mojoj · 02/03/2023 19:44

I watched the footage. It was an accident. No way she should have been jailed.

And yet the legal threshold for manslaughter was met and the judge was clear that based on all evidence, manslaughter was the correct verdict.

Do you not think the CPS and judge might have a bit more information than you to base the arrest, charge, conviction and sentence on?

TheCatWithGreenEyes · 02/03/2023 19:46

@Dominoeffecter

I don't really care she shouldn't be on the pavement. She could have caused injury to the other lady or someone else. Cyclists belong on the roads.

3 years in jail is ridiculous. All she did was shout at her. If she pushed her yeah she would most definitely deserve that and more

MichelleScarn · 02/03/2023 19:46

It was malicious and intentional if speaking about her actions, but doubt she expected the outcome to be death, hence manslaughter.

Donnashair · 02/03/2023 19:47

Mojoj · 02/03/2023 19:44

Something being an accident doesn’t mean you can’t go to jail for it.

Her actions led to the death of a woman. She is going to jail.

Familyiness · 02/03/2023 19:48

@NoBoatsOnSunday no wonder she has no one when she behaves like that.
I wonder if those defending her would do so if that was their nan or mother?
She showed her true nature when she walked away!!

She did make contact with her.

and the path is a path that cyclists are allowed on. So no, she shouldn’t have been allowed on the road.

Or their child.

I bet if the victim was someone’s child or teen people wouldn’t ever think this was acceptable
