DP thinks my bag is 'childish and showy'

I'm originally from Sweden and back home people of all ages carry these bags. Last week, I decided to purchase a new Kånken to replace the one I've had for 10 years. Picked this colour (www.fjallraven.com/uk/en-gb/bags-gear/kanken/kanken-bags/kanken-rainbow-mini?v=F23621%3a%3a7323450792466) this time around to replace the black one I had, and DH absolutely hates it. I use it primarily for dog walks and trips to the local cafe/shops and he thinks it's too showy/childish and feels 'embarrassed' when I take it with me when we go out for coffee together.

AIBU to think that it's just a bag? It's not that bad, is it?

It looks like a kids bag and it’s practical rather than attractive and I don’t know anyone who would use it except maybe as a changing bag but it’s not offensive

The bright yellow one is quite kid like to be honest..... but if you like it I guess that's the main thing.

I like the bag and don't mind the bright colours of the main structure, but the rainbow stripe straps are a bit toddlerish.

It's childish and not to my taste but if you like it you like it.

Round my way it’s this is the bag of choice for university students. I couldn’t believe the price of them and could never have afforded one whilst I was at university.

There's nothing more childish than worrying that some accessory is not 'cool' enough.

Your DH is (presumably) old enough to know better than to think cool has any real value.

Personally I'd be embarrassed to be seem with a person who cared so much about what bag their partner choses to carry! How absolutely rediculous. Gives me the ick tbh.

Hmm, it is a bit of a statement, I wouldn't want it but obviously everyone likes different things. It definitely gives of children's TV presenter vibes.

He is allowed to not like it in the same way you are allowed to like it but it's not up to him to decide what you have.

It does look like a kids back tbf, sadly I dislike all things rainbow these days because it’s bloody everywhere. It’s your bag though, up to you what you want to carry about with you

He gets a say on things like which house to buy/rent or which school the dch go to. He can voice his opinion on your bag but please don't let him put you off if you love it. I bought a pair of gold sandals which horrified DH but I loved them and wore them until they fell apart. So pfft to him, and to your DH too!

Toe it looks retro, 70's, I like fun/contrasting bags.

A bit childlike yes but it's fine. I use a child's Pineapple dance bag as a handbag. I like all t hecompartments 😂

If you have a bag with bright colours like that in the main structure, you need something in the strapping/trimming to elevate it and give it some sophistication along with the fun, e.g., some lovely dark leather. The rainbow stripe straps do the opposite.

Just my opinion. If you like it, then nobody else's opinion matters. Your husband is overreacting.
