DP thinks my bag is 'childish and showy'

I'm originally from Sweden and back home people of all ages carry these bags. Last week, I decided to purchase a new Kånken to replace the one I've had for 10 years. Picked this colour (www.fjallraven.com/uk/en-gb/bags-gear/kanken/kanken-bags/kanken-rainbow-mini?v=F23621%3a%3a7323450792466) this time around to replace the black one I had, and DH absolutely hates it. I use it primarily for dog walks and trips to the local cafe/shops and he thinks it's too showy/childish and feels 'embarrassed' when I take it with me when we go out for coffee together. Confused

AIBU to think that it's just a bag? It's not that bad, is it?

It does say Mr Tumble to me but your OH is being ridiculous and precious. You should carry whatever bag you like!

Hawkins003 · 23/02/2023 22:09

I understand in some contexts you have to be professional, but for general casual I'd wear one, people will judge no matter what and if they say I'm strange I'll reply and, etc, if you love the backpack then your dh should support you.

NEmama · 23/02/2023 22:09

It does look like a kids bag

AlwaysWorriedAboutEverything · 23/02/2023 22:09

I like Fjällrävens and secretly want one but everyone around here has one so I can't bring myself to get one yet. 😅I think your DH is being a dick. If you like the bag then that's all that matters.

ReadersD1gest · 23/02/2023 22:10

The titchy one's do like kid's bags...

ReadersD1gest · 23/02/2023 22:10

*look like

It looks a bit like 1970s dungarees but I bet it makes you smile. This is my bag and I love it

That would give me some style, although if I was trying to be a grey person, I'd soon stand out, unless it was standing out to make it seem like I wasn't trying to blend so to speak

YesYou · 23/02/2023 22:10

It's in the kids section on the website.

If you like it that's fine but he does have a point that childrens bags are childish

Mariposista · 23/02/2023 22:10

It’s your bag and if you like it that’s all that matters!

Sunnysunbun · 23/02/2023 22:10

It’s great. He’s a soulless muppet. Buy matching crocs and really freak him out x

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 23/02/2023 22:11

I mean if your partner is Nick Cave or similar, I can see them being utterly appalled by the canary yellow backpack. He needs to be a big boy and get over it though.

Womencanlift · 23/02/2023 22:11

The colour does look very childish in my opinion so I do get where he is coming from. But it’s your bag so he just has to accept it

I do love those bags but personally wouldn’t get one so bright

Whydoiwearsomuchleopardprint · 23/02/2023 22:11

The only problem with that bag is you paid 85 quid for it, apart from that it’s fine.

Girasoli · 23/02/2023 22:11

I see those bags all the time - on adults! I'm guessing they are a good size for laptops.

Tooshytoshine · 23/02/2023 22:11

Love it! I have the royal blue rainbow bag and it brings me joy!

Fireflies23 · 23/02/2023 22:11

I can see what he means. But I love it when adults wear bright colours! You do you!

No, not those mini ones. The normal size would just about fit a laptop, in a pinch.

That's my thinking was OMG the price

Logicalreasoning · 23/02/2023 22:13

Personally I don’t like them bags but it’s your bag, if he don’t like it he’s the one with the problem.... maybe tell him you don’t like his shoes or a pi3ce of his clothing, see how he feels. I don’t understand what his problem is, it’s a bag, run of the mill standard bag, it’s not like it’s made out of crocodile or real fur. Why is so worried what other people think?

girlfriend44 · 23/02/2023 22:13

Is this an advert for the bag are you being paid? If not you should be?
Loads of free advertising.

ChungusBoi · 23/02/2023 22:13

They look well made, wear what makes you happy 😊

CloudPop · 23/02/2023 22:13

I can't imagine my husband having any opinion on a bag, never mind voicing it

susiesuelou · 23/02/2023 22:14

It's not my taste personally and the yellow is a bit much. But I wouldn't feel embarrassed to be seen with you so your DH needs to get a grip.

I don't think any one'll be crushed in the stampede, to be fair 😁

BlueSeaWave · 23/02/2023 22:14

I am an adult and I have a blue one, I fucking love it and it’s so practical. Really don’t get why he would object to your bag. If he told you he didn’t want you dressing as yYou do that would also be wierd.
