Would you wear this out to a restaurant? Wearing nothing underneath but nipple covers and thong?

just to be clear…this is an open all day brunch/lunch then tapas burgers kinda place. family friendly, kids menu crayons ect. Not an evening or drinks venue.

I was completely taken a back as to why anyone would think it’s appropriate to wear that to a kid friendly restaurant

couldn’t find a link to the actual dress but it’s very similar to this Kylie Jenner one.

AIBU here?!

detail missing incase it’s outing!

This is NOT about the photo. Read the OP- this was a similar dress with a thong and nipple covers only. At lunchtime in a family restaurant- not Kylie Jenner in LA.

Do we know that it was at lunchtime? It's not entirely clear from OP's message. She describes it as "open all day brunch/lunch then tapas burgers kinda place" which at least suggests it is serving into early evening and possibly later.

MeinKraft · 22/02/2023 22:45

I mean all men have a penis but I don't really want my young children to see barely covered dicks over their lunch either.

JaneJeffer · 22/02/2023 22:46

@FlissyPaps nope the woman the OP referred to lives in the UK

Agree with this - no adult, male or female has the right to expose themselves in front of children, and whilst that dress is not quite as bad as exposing herself it is still inappropriate outside of an adult only setting. In the evening and in adult only settings then hell yes, the woman can wear what she wants.

Other adult women might shrug and say so what, but I bet some of the kids there felt very uncomfortable. Not all, but some and kids can't articulate why and they can't just vote with their feet and leave. N othing to do with policing women. It is to do with protecting kids from adult behaviour.

Yep, this.

I was with my children in the park, a woman was wearing very, very short skirt, as in just grazing the bottom of her arse, with a thong underneath, which everyone saw as she clambered around the play equipment with the kids. One of my DC really didn't like it. Her choice, but an adult choice that some kids will find challenging.

This is the same. Some kids will be fine about it, others won't. And no, a man choosing to do the same thing would not be given air-punching support in the same way.

StickofVeg · 22/02/2023 22:47

I wouldn't wear it personally, but if someone has the front for it then I wouldn't get worked up.

Silvergone · 22/02/2023 22:47

Ugh, more fetishisation of women.

I keep seeing teenage girls with make up that makes them look like blow up sex dolls, huge inflated lips ans stuck on eyelashes etc, it’s all so dehumanising and porn inspired.

VictorStrand · 22/02/2023 22:48

I wouldn't care.
I also wouldn't be looking closely enough to work out that they were wearing nipple covers and a thong. Unless it was your date or your DD, you were paying them way too much attention OP.

NatashaDancing · 22/02/2023 22:37

It's very tacky and inappropriate. I'm amused by all the cool girls on here falling over themselves trying to be cool.

I'm amused that cool girl is used as an insult when someone disagrees, it's so embarrassing and a bit like when your mum tries using slang and talks about being on The Facebook.

Try harder.

ladymaiasura · 22/02/2023 22:16

You do realise the thread isn’t actually about Kylie Jenner…?! We don’t know where this took place.

Where did I say the thread is about Kylie…?!

Doesn’t take long to do a quick Google search to see it took place in Los Angeles.

My point still stands. I’m sure she’ll be fine and will hardly “catch her death” like the Pearl clutches on here seem to think.

This response was more embarrassing, frankly.

Let me run and hide worrying about what mumsnet think of me.

@FlissyPaps you need to read the OP - you've got it all wrong 🙈

Ok here goes. I'm very amused by all the posters desperately trying to show that oh, they are so relaxed, so cosmopolitan, so not "pearl clutchers" that all common sense goes out the window.

You all sound absolutely ridiculous.

Another ridiculous response. It's going to be bloody obvious from any distance that this person was wearing nothing but a thong and nipple covers under a sheer dress.

VictorStrand · 22/02/2023 22:54

Oh it's that time of night when posters start having petty arguments. In the old days, you could have a semi serious thread even after 10pm but not any more.

limitedperiodonly · 22/02/2023 22:57

A long time ago I went to an all-day Tex Mex restaurant in the evening with my boyfriend.

I wasn't wearing any underwear under my skirt and top though you couldn't see anything unless you really looked.

The bloke on the next table was really looking so his girlfriend started a row with him and he said: "I wouldn't look at that slag."

Unfortunately there was a hush in the restaurant as he said it so everyone heard. It was an awkward moment but luckily we were regulars in the restaurant and they weren't so they were asked to leave.

It didn't seem like there was a lot of trust in their relationship and I wonder where they are now. Me and my boyfriend have been happily married for 30 years. I wouldn't wear that now but everyone enjoyed it when I did.

Mind your own business and stop staring at girls you're jealous of @Whatwouldyado

Can we stop pretending that having your arse and tits out for lunch is perfectly acceptable and anyone who thinks differently is the second coming of Mary Whitehouse

Absofuckinglutely

Yep, agree with this.

LouMorg · 22/02/2023 22:57

OldTinHat · 22/02/2023 21:10

I would have done 30yrs ago. Not now though, the nipple covers would be scraping along the pavement behind me followed by my arse cheeks.

😂 😂

Makilda · 22/02/2023 22:58

magicthree · 22/02/2023 22:57

Yep, agree with this.

Seconded. Or thirded.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 22/02/2023 22:58

It looks like she had a fight with the net curtains and the curtains won. Something my dm would have said god rest her soul.
