I’ve started a new job in November and one of my colleagues asked to be dropped off as a favour one day. Little did I know she would be waiting for me by the only exit on a daily basis. I’ve on numerous occasions made excuses and said I’m rushing to an appointment or my neighbour is locked out and I’ve got her spare indoors but to no avail. I’m what MN calls a pushover/ doormat. Im really upset as she doesn’t offer anything financially or even thank you. The worst thing is, I’ve given her the first lift home because she suffered a miscarriage and was taken ill at work. But because of that first kind act, she expected it everyday. I’m writing her a text message now as it’s getting too much now and I need to put my foot down. I don’t want to pussyfoot around her anymore.
AIBU?

Drive past. 🤣and wave.

pattihews · 22/02/2023 13:43

Who pays for this taxi, OP? You or your employer?

ItsNotReallyChaos · 22/02/2023 13:43

Wow - this is a whole other level of CFy!

I'm in awe of your colleague.

Moonopoly · 22/02/2023 13:45

Are your work paying for the taxi? If so, it makes sense for her to travel with you

Mirabai · 22/02/2023 13:45

How much is your taxi habit eating into your wage, and how much has this woman cost you additionally thus far?

I simply can’t get my head around a situation in which “you live in the opposite direction so please pay for your own taxi” is not said after the initial lift.

PillBoxes · 22/02/2023 13:45

I'm in awe of anyone getting a taxi to and from work every day in these times, but what do I know?

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 22/02/2023 13:46

Tell her the next three months' taxi fares are on her, and that you look forward to having a 12-week hiatus in paying for transport.

See how fast she skedaddles away.

How was she making her way to work before you were hired?

Nanny0gg · 22/02/2023 13:46

TwinMama6 · 22/02/2023 13:03

Yes 🙄

I'm not entirely sure 'pushover' is the right word...

For goodness sake, just say, '
That taxi is mine that I pay for, you need to get your own. See you tomorrow'

And how does she get to work?

(Is that really the only way to get to work? Very expensive!)

MadeForThis · 22/02/2023 13:46

Taxi? Hmmmm

TwinMama6 · 22/02/2023 13:49

AlwaysLatte · 22/02/2023 13:09

Next time make sure you drop in to a great aunt for a cup of tea and a very long chat about her ailments.

🤣🤣🤣

Thanks, knobheadinlaws!
first time I’ve posted anything, and long term lurker😌

First Post? Then you need to get in touch with mumsnet to see why someone else has been using your account Hmm

I call BS

Been like this all week.

Redebs · 22/02/2023 13:51

Haha, I don't believe a word of this!

ItsCalledAConversation · 22/02/2023 13:51

A daily taxi to and from work. That you’re paying for. And someone else getting in every day. And never once offering to pay. Hmmm.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 22/02/2023 13:51

So you you didn’t make it clear at the time that you were only giving her a lift because she had suffered a miscarriage.
She should’ve known.

Unless she's monumentally thick, it sounds like she has actually tried to capitalise long-term on her tragedy.

I don't know people are shocked at OP getting a taxi every day; if you don't have all of the costs of running your own car, it's perfectly feasible to work a daily taxi journey into your budget, if you prioritise it, are paid enough and preferably don't live too far away.

TwinMama6 · 22/02/2023 13:51

BruceAndNosh · 22/02/2023 13:21

Next time, tell the taxi to drop you off first then double back to drop her off... She can pay.

Amazing idea, then see how she feels!

🤣🤣🤣

Good to see you back OP because you have left a few loose threads hanging, they need knotting or snipping.

absolutelyincandescentwithrage · 22/02/2023 13:53

Surely no one can be that much of a mug? Grow a spine OP.

SoonBeTeaTime · 22/02/2023 13:54

She's getting in YOUR taxi YOU pay for??? Wait what✋️😱?! She gets out at her house and you pay EVERY SINGLE TIME what?? Never, no, how does she think this is OK?? How have you carried this on?

A direct text of "Hi, I'm not funding your taxi ride home anymore, I have felt too embarassed to bring this up and have allowed this to continue for far too long. The first time I offered was because you were taken unwell, it was not an offer to provide a free taxi ride everytime I work. Please book your own taxi from now on."

pattihews · 22/02/2023 13:54

And again, OP, do you pay for the taxi yourself or does your employer pay for it?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 22/02/2023 13:54

First Post? Then you need to get in touch with mumsnet to see why someone else has been using your account

I don't know OP, so am only able to take this at face value; but where are you getting that from? An advanced search (yeah, I know) for OP's name only brings up this thread. As you'd expect, there are a lot of very similar usernames.

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 22/02/2023 13:55

She's getting in your taxi that you pay for?!

Hell no! 🤬

I'd text her and say "sorry but I've decided I can no longer taxi share with you as you don't pay towards the costs at all and it's not fair. From today you'll need to make your own arrangements."

Advanced Search bring up years of posts for this person/bot.
Are you one as well?
