I'll admit it, I eat a lot of tomatoes.

Daily probably.

But where are they?

AIBU to ask you if there are tomatoes where you live?

Maybe people will be now turning the spare bedrooms they finally emptied after the great toilet paper loot, to grow tomatoes😂

Criminals will convert their cannabis farms to tomatoes because there's more money in it Grin

Highmato😂

mumonherphone · 24/02/2023 22:15

I've got tomatoes but no bell peppers. My son (6) snacks on raw peppers, carrot sticks, cucumbers and tomatoes without fuss but we have a battle with cooked vegetables. So I am mildly worried about the situation.

Bubblebubblebah · 24/02/2023 22:28

I can report ocado had all veg on delivery. And good one. Better quality than I would pick up in the ASDA.

@mumonherphone do you have any foreign shops nearby? They usually have everything. Even in lockdown when supermarkets were basically looted, these shops still had stock. I can now reveal these secrets since I won't need to compete anymore😂
If you cannot find typical bell pepper they often hawe "white ine" which we use for cooking (stuffed with rice and meat) but they are fine raw as well

Bubblebubblebah · 24/02/2023 22:29

Soz for typos. Beer

Same here. Turnip is not going to cut it for an after school snack

Why have I got to get used to it @Nimbostratus100

The rest of Europe has plenty of tomatoes. Why can't the U.K. have the same?

I have plenty of tomatoes currently but it feels a bit "for now".

The children are doing their TikTok cherry tomato pasta tonight

Just been to Tesco not a single tomato.

Just been to our big Tesco and no cucumbers, tomatoes or eggs whatsoever.

It's pretty rubbish isn't it?

My friend works in a supermarket and she says the number one aisle that baskets get abandoned in is eggs. Closely followed this last fortnight by next to the empty tomato section.

I don't even get a basket at the moment until I've checked out the veg aisle.

My friend texted me in the week that the only way she knows her town has had any tomatoes us that she saw a bird pecking at one somebody had dropped in the gutter.

What is our country coming to?!

no - always lots in the supermarket where I pop into to buy my morning croissant, and I dropped into a supermarket latish on the way home last night, and they had shelves full at around 9pm.
there were some empty spots in the produce shelves, but I could have happily made a meal whether i'd wanted.

sadly I couldn't see any fresh beetroot, but bought some vacuum packed ones instead - but that's almost verging into turnip territory.
