I can’t cope with PIP Tribunal.

Stressedafff · 20/02/2023 12:23

I applied for PIP on December 24th 2021. Was declined and did a mandatory reconsideration which also was declined. I appealed to the tribunal on 1st July last year, was told 25 week wait. I’m appearing via phone due to agoraphobia and mental health conditions and I am dreading it. I’m still waiting on a date for tribunal, I phoned to enquire and was told they’d put it through to the listing team but nothings come of it. The thought of going through this is making me more unwell. I’m waking up in the night with panic attacks, vomiting and my hair is starting to fall out. I feel like withdrawing this appeal because it’s making me poorly. I don’t know what to do.

What was the decision on your previous appeal? They do sometimes use the other benefits as evidence. I had this I think.

@Stressedafff Wow, bet you are exhausted. At least they didn't rush you, if you were on for over an hour. Let's hope because they have been so thorough that they can make the right decision quickly and grant you the award. Let us know the outcome, you've been very brave, try and relax now, there is nothing more you could have done and it's entirely in their hands.

PerkingFaintly · 07/03/2023 12:09

Not sure it's adding much to keep having a go at the same post by DaisyDays123, on Stressedafff's support thread?

Waiting can be awful. BUT you've done the bit that required you to do anything. It's out of your hands now.

Yes, I read on here that the tribunal like to use evidence or decisions from other assessments and appeals. Following that advice I submitted mine, and won my PIP tribunal.

Stressedafff · 07/03/2023 12:42

For fuck sake
got 5 points daily living
awarded standard mobility.

my bloods boiling at this point, I’ve told them about I can’t manage money, I’ve got debts up to my eyeballs because I can’t manage money, I’ve explained psychological distress yet every single time it just gets pushed aside. I cba fighting anymore at all

Stressedafff · 07/03/2023 12:45

I actually feel like crying. Nothing I say seems to sink in to these people I swear to fucking god. I’ve explained how and why I meet the descriptors several times yet nothing once again. Fed up.com

Oh OP I’m so sorry! I don’t know what to say but I’m so angry for you

SouthCountryGirl · 07/03/2023 12:49

At least you got something

Eightiesgirl · 07/03/2023 12:49

OMG that is terrible. I am so sorry for you. Is there any way that you can challenge this? Is there anyone you can get to help you? This is absolutely disgusting, I thought if you went to a tribunal it usually got granted? That's what I keep reading on here!

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 07/03/2023 12:51

SouthCountryGirl · 07/03/2023 12:49

FFS what is wrong with people

Stressedafff · 07/03/2023 12:51

Can’t challenge as no error in law apparently. Oh well. It is what it is I suppose

Fucking hell, really?

Yes OP you should be grateful that you got something, I mean it's not what you should have been awarded and it's a fucking distressing process to be rejected, disbelieved and denied at the end. But sure, be grateful Hmm

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 07/03/2023 12:54

This is so dehumanising.

Is there anything we can support - campaigns, lobby’s, petitions - to voice our anger and help end this shit show?

percypercypercy · 07/03/2023 12:54

I'm sorry OP. Sorry that this is the outcome but even more sorry about some of the posts on this thread. Some people are tone deaf. Some are goady fuckers. Some just like to kick a mentally unwell person when they are down.

You have to wonder, don't you?

Targetbag · 07/03/2023 12:56

When can you reapply?

I would concentrate on gathering evidence from professionals so when you next reapply you can evidence your answers.

Stressedafff · 07/03/2023 12:57

I’m not even overly bothered thinking about it. I should get around £1500 in back pay so my plan is to blitz that on some private therapy and hopefully return to a place where I’m not crying, vomiting, nearly losing my breath down the phone for £24.45 a week. Better days will come.

I think w/r to the PIP process disability rights and scope etc have tried to campaign but it’s the DWP isn’t it, they brought it in to be difficult for people, I know a few people who’d been on DLA for years and years, then got transferred over to PIP and got nothing. I hope they pay me the fuckin cost of living payment from last year as well for my troubles!

You poor soul what an ordeal and weeks if not months of hell to be awarded a measly five points. Poor you it makes you feel so worthless and your illness invalidated. Try and have a nice bath, eat some sweet treats and hopefully sleep tonight. The whole system is wrong and I'm sorry you've had to go through all this xx

doingmystuff · 07/03/2023 13:56

What happens if you are made to look for work and can't go to interviews or you get jobs but are unable to go or to be productive in your job?

Are they expecting you to go from job to job interview to interview applying for jobs you can't do? That's not fair in you or the employer.

Are you expected to lie in an interview and pretend you can do the job or are you going to be honest and tell them I don't have what it takes to do this job but I'm obligated to apply? Will that be considered making yourself unemployable?
It's a very bleak and unrealistic outlook for someone who can't work but has to.

PIP has nothing to do with work.

OP has been awarded LCWRA so won't have to look for work.

Stressedafff · 07/03/2023 13:59

@doingmystuff This was actually what Amy LCWRA award was based on. At the time I could apply for the jobs and get them, however my working record is absolutely horrific because of my mental health. They did take that into consideration because I had worked before my MH nosediving x

So sorry it wasn’t a good outcome for you OP, I was hoping to hear better news, sending hugs. You saw it through, and that took a lot of courage. Good luck going forward.

ArianahX · 07/03/2023 16:43

I'm waiting for my PIP assessment... not expecting a good result anyway

Zebedee55 · 08/03/2023 10:08

OP: Once you receive confirmation of the award, then check on here, as even standard rate PIP can be a gateway to other financial help:

JaceLancs · 08/03/2023 17:51

I’m really sorry to hear that you didn’t get the result you wanted
Not sure how long ago you originally applied and were re assessed but if you can face it - you may want to consider applying again in future - especially if you have got worse since the actual assessment
