I can’t cope with PIP Tribunal.

Stressedafff · 20/02/2023 12:23

I applied for PIP on December 24th 2021. Was declined and did a mandatory reconsideration which also was declined. I appealed to the tribunal on 1st July last year, was told 25 week wait. I’m appearing via phone due to agoraphobia and mental health conditions and I am dreading it. I’m still waiting on a date for tribunal, I phoned to enquire and was told they’d put it through to the listing team but nothings come of it. The thought of going through this is making me more unwell. I’m waking up in the night with panic attacks, vomiting and my hair is starting to fall out. I feel like withdrawing this appeal because it’s making me poorly. I don’t know what to do.

Fingers crossed for you tomorrow, OP.

Mrsjayy · 06/03/2023 20:33

Sending love for tomorrow you are brave.

Eightiesgirl · 06/03/2023 21:01

Good luck, please let us know how you get on x

EnthENd · 06/03/2023 21:30

I won't tell you what to do. I'll just say that driving you into giving up is the whole point of the process the government has created. Reduce the benefits bill by any means necessary.

I know someone who ended up hospitalised for several months as a direct result of the PIP 'assessment' process, and hasn't truly made a full recovery after several more years. I bet that avoidable hospital stay cost the taxpayer far more than was saved by Crapita's dishonesty.

TheWernethWife · 06/03/2023 21:40

Has your GP got a Focus Care Practitioner at the surgery. Ours has, she helps people with hospital visits, and claiming PIP and other stuff.

Choconuttolata · 06/03/2023 21:46

You can do this, if you have a panic attack like my DH did they will be understanding. The tribunal panel are much more understanding than the initial PIP assessors. Sending strength 🏋️

Auldspinster · 06/03/2023 22:51

You can do it. The panel realise how stressful it is and will be as kind as possible. My preamble to appellants always reinforced that they could take a break at any time.

Stressedafff · 07/03/2023 00:01

my minds absolutely racing. I told them I don’t go out because I don’t, but now I’ve got a cold so I’m wondering if they’ll think I’m lying or something.

also how do I find out after the hearing if I’ve been successful

OP posts:
Roselilly36 · 07/03/2023 07:09

Don’t worry about the cold, you are allowed visitors, especially your mum. And sometimes you can pick up a bug, as you aren’t mixing etc you are probably more likely to pick up a bug. Sorry you are being put through this unnecessary stress. Good luck today.

I think they tell you on the day.

Best of luck. Flowers

Coconut80 · 07/03/2023 09:08

@Stressedafff what time is your call. We are all here and supporting you. Don't let the bastarding system win. You can do it even if you need breaks and panic. Good luck x

Zebedee55 · 07/03/2023 09:19

I was a voluntary benefit advocate, for disabilities, and I am disabled,, and just to let you know that a tribunal is totally different to a DWP assessment.

A tribunal wants to be fair - it's not there to try and make sure you can't claim.

Have someone sitting with you, if you can, write down and anything you want to say, and just tell them how your difficulties impact on your life. Don't play it down.

Good luck.😉

Ah sorry just googled it, some sort of benefit payment? I guess you have 2 choices:

  1. get your anxiety under control (mindfulness, yoga, medicine etc)
  2. drop the claim

they both are tough, pick your tough.

You don’t even know what PIP is so why are you here trying to give useful advice? Bye hun

MrsSkylerWhite · 07/03/2023 09:52

Are you allowed an advocate?

Stressedafff · 07/03/2023 09:59

It’s 10am. Any minute now. Wish me luck, I feel so nervous

Stressedafff · 07/03/2023 11:15

Hi all. That was fucking awful. I appeared via tribunal for an an LCWRA appeal in 2021 and they were more arsed about the fucking assessment for that than the PIP application

Flowers You've got it over with! Well done well done!

Here, have a very strong Brew.

Are you now waiting for the result in the post?

Eightiesgirl · 07/03/2023 11:45

Well done, you've got it over. Sounds like it was an ordeal. Surely there is a better way than putting people through this stress. My dh has psychosis and severe mental health issues, I'm dreading him having to attend a tribunal, he will literally go crazy. Did they give you any idea of the outcome? Been thinking about you and glad it's over Flowers

Stressedafff · 07/03/2023 11:46

Thank you so much. I was on for over an hour so they’d ran over into the next hearing they can’t call back with a decision as they have to deliberate. Have to wait for post. Not ideal at all however someone said it appears online so I’ll keep an eye out. More anxiety lol

There are some times in life when you really aren't qualified to give "advice" - this is one of them.

Yes, OP, that's right...pull yourself together 🙄

Daisy: you have no idea how tough it is for people like the OP. In fact, you, embarrassingly, have no idea what the heck you are on about.

Stick to topics you know.
