Boris Johnson wants a 2nd bash at being PM. We wouldn't. Would we?

Today BJ is stirring up the DUP to oppose Sunak's N Ireland proposals, whatever they may be. Surely there can't be a second chance for the idiot responsible for our current mess? There aren't enough stupid people in our country to let him in again I hope. Will he unseat Sunak?

There's no cutnpaste, so I think it is an imposter.

I read that as ‘cuntpaste’ the first time I glanced at it. I thought, why on earth would Clavinova bring cuntpaste to an argument about Boris Johnson?

But alas alack, it was my error.

tinytemper66 · 19/02/2023 19:22

Some idiots will vote him in tomorrow. The sensible voter wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

Well it would be nice if Clav brought something to the discussion.

Oh look a squirrel.

LaurieFairyCake · 19/02/2023 19:30

I'd bet money he will get back in again

People are THAT stupid

DuncinToffee · 19/02/2023 19:32

He has to get through the partygate enquiry first, the one where we pay for his lawyers.

Certainly @NoWordForFluffy that was an erudite and enlighting post.

On a walkabout in Hartlepool with the victorious Tory candidate, Boris Johnson said her win was a "mandate for us to continue to deliver" for the north-east of England and the rest of the country.
"If there is a lesson out of this whole election campaign across the whole of the UK is that the public want us to get on with focusing on their needs and their priorities, coming through the pandemic and making sure we build back better,"

I'm not surprised Boris was feeling chuffed - Focaldata's prediction only two months before the by-election;
@ focaldataHQ
Mar 26, 2021
Labour are currently projected to cling on to Hartlepool… by the tightest of margins...
In order to get the first read of the Hartlepool by-election, @ focaldataHQ conducted a poll of 83 constituencies across the North of England, sampling 5,265 respondents. We then used these responses to model vote choices in Hartlepool...

The Conservative candidate won by a fraction short of 7,000 votes - so Labour didn't 'cling on' to Hartlepool at all. So much for modelling.

Absolutely

Congrats on the research.

It's going to be an interesting general election. I have no doubt you and I will be on threads together

Hartlepool. Is that where they hanged a monkey suspected of being a French spy? Interesting thought processes up there still going on.

The silent Tories show up in opinion polls, fear not.

They probably don't show up. Most of the pollsters don't say how many respondents answered; "don't know" when asked who they would vote for tomorrow, but in YouGov's last survey (for example) - 27% of respondents who voted Conservative in 2019 answered "don't know" - another 9% said they would not vote (they might change their mind in 18 month's time) and another 8% said they would vote for Reform UK (they might not vote for Reform UK in 18 month's time).

I'm still a big fan of Boris - but happy with Rishi Sunak at the moment - let's see at the end of the year.

I'm sure Boris is doing a lot better that any of us, I certainly wouldn't mind 5 million in the bank, I doubt he will seriously want to be PM again though

5 million is not enough for him he would need a lot more than that. He wants to be PM again for the power !

Probably - but I shall have to find a new hobby if the Conservatives lose. Grin

How exactly is it all due to Boris, surely he was just carrying on from the previous leaders?

newnamethanks · 19/02/2023 23:02

Well, not exactly, Hawkins, BJ was the bright new prospect to 'get Brexit done' where others had failed. Although the inability to solve the unsolvable continued with him. Which was inevitable and will remain so until circumstances change. Sooner rather than later hopefully.

You can’t say ridiculous things like that without s link. It’s offensive.

Blessedwithsunshine · 20/02/2023 06:40

It is my understanding now that Sunak is facing three big issues - he is not liked or trusted by most of his own party. The party feel Sunak dishonestly deposed Boris ( which is a fair assessment) and is a technocratic leader by name not choice.

There is a big revolt growing over the corporation hike from 19% to 25%

There is a bigger one still growing over the NI protocol.

And if the May elections are the wipe out everyone is predicting Sunak will be toast. The rules are being changed as we speak to accommodate his swift departure.

Sunak should not be PM. He has no right to be there. No one voted for him. We will look back on this period as very dark days for democracy.

I have to say I thought the incident in question was so widely known that a link was not necessary.
But given we have been visited on this thread by the master of links perhaps they could provide one?
