Today BJ is stirring up the DUP to oppose Sunak's N Ireland proposals, whatever they may be. Surely there can't be a second chance for the idiot responsible for our current mess? There aren't enough stupid people in our country to let him in again I hope. Will he unseat Sunak?

After 13 years of cuts, she might have to

Thought I had already posted this;

March 2010
Alistair Darling admitted tonight that Labour's planned cuts in public spending will be "deeper and tougher" than Margaret Thatcher's in the 1980s...

www.theguardian.com/politics/2010/mar/25/alistair-darling-cut-deeper-margaret-thatcher

Actually the cuts started after the end of the Cold War, so not just Labour's fault.

LexMitior · 21/02/2023 21:10

@jgw1 - Johnson has everything going for him except his character. That is seriously deficient. All his messes and scandals are based on the idea he's an exception to the rule. Good for a journalist, but a disaster for a Prime Minister.

He neither had the focus nor the will for the really difficult stuff.

His deadline habit for trade has been a disaster. Good for sound bites, but truthfully no sensible negotiation has an artificial deadline because it can be used against a country, and so it was. The concessions made to meet deadlines have cost the UK millions.

Anyway this thread is about backbencher Johnson.

In the interests of factual accuracy I would like to point out that 2 years ago in February 2021 the polls showed the Tories and Labour very close together.
I have a feeling @ Emotionalstorm you are perhaps misremembering two years ago

March 4th 2021 in your link though shows the Conservatives with 45% of the vote and Labour with only 32%. How easily fortunes can change - all to play for.

Oh we can but live in hope. Come on Bozo! kick that weasly back stabber Sunak into touch. Just the thought of that ragtag opposition trying to run the country has me reaching for my smelling salts. Cardboard cut out Starmer et al. God help us all Shock

'His second wife was being treated for cancer when he took up with Carrie. I’d hardly call that the behaviour of a gentleman.'

'Not this again - Marina Wheeler was diagnosed with cancer the year after she separated from Boris Johnson and some months after she had obtained a decree nisi in divorce proceedings.'

Needs pinning on any Boris threads. It's trawled out at every opportunity. That and his notorious raves whilst everyone else was wearing hair shirts that is.

Yes my evening is complete.

The numbers are diminishing though. You can count them on one hand now.

LexMitior · 21/02/2023 21:28

Johnson's lack of domestic delivery is a problem, because the Conservatives have 18 months to go until the next election to deliver a big ticket policy. They haven't managed it and it's very unlikely they will manage it now.

Levelling up is one that has not been delivered. That was key. Instead you have inflation and debts increasing.

That is making people in Britain feel poor, which by the way they are poorer than they were six years ago, and I don't think they can be turned around in 18 months. Instead, the public sector that the Conservatives need to deliver is at boiling point. You cannot tear everything up at the same time, and then expect results. There has been no real focus on making people feel better off where wages have be stagnant for years. Instead it's all be the family psychodrama of Europe.

Strange I am sure Boris is called an ex (for now) Prime minister.

I am hearing encouraging whispers on the grapevine.

But the soloist and drummer have returned.

Few can probably be arsed to take on the 'cake cake cake! he had a BJ while his wife was dying!' level of debate tbh.

Blessedwithsunshine · 21/02/2023 21:31

And yet he still won a stomping majority….

LexMitior · 21/02/2023 21:32

He has wasted his majority utterly

Blessedwithsunshine · 21/02/2023 21:33

No, his majority was snatched away and was inside hatchet job.

Rhondaa · 21/02/2023 21:34

I mean did anyone see Starmer dithering and wibbling in Ukraine? He has the presence of a gnat.

no you were being offensive about all single mothers yesterday

I doubt I was offensive at all, e.g.

I'm not the morality police

I think it depends on personal circumstances - a teenage mother with no job prospects, living on a run-down estate - likely to be a problem, yes

As far as I can see, Johnson was referring to 'teenage mothers'

Just to remind you that both articles were discussing teenage mothers

LlynTegid · 21/02/2023 21:34

@Blessedwithsunshine remember the alternative was someone who sat on the fence over Brexit and was allegedly a former IRA sympathiser. I'd argue Labour lost more than the Tories won.

Indeed. His MPs resigned en mass leaving him no choice but to go. What makes you think he can get them behind him now?Confused

Oh god you'll have launched the 'but jezza' bot.

Blessedwithsunshine · 21/02/2023 21:37

God help us if Starmer gets in. Bumbling and lisping fool that straddles the fence on every issue. I agree we would be a post democratic country if Boris hadn’t waded in and delivered. That’s what he will always be remembered for in a good way.

LexMitior · 21/02/2023 21:39

@Blessedwithsunshine - the fact remains that you can't just hold a majority and look at it. He didn't bloody do anything with it.

History shows prime ministers with similar majorities who achieved huge domestic changes.

Johnson did not do that. He could have easily achieved far more. He is a bungler

Many of them were remainers keen to get a handle on things. No one actually believes Sunak is a brexiteer - he is a civil servant by nature.

Well let’s see….because Starmer has made it clear he doesn’t want to go up against Johnson again. I wonder why…

Has NI left the UK yet, or only partly so far?
