Today BJ is stirring up the DUP to oppose Sunak's N Ireland proposals, whatever they may be. Surely there can't be a second chance for the idiot responsible for our current mess? There aren't enough stupid people in our country to let him in again I hope. Will he unseat Sunak?

So in 1995 it wasn't good for children to have single mothers
In 2005 it depended on their circumstances, if they were poor it was a bad thing

Just to remind you that both articles were discussing teenage mothers -

Single teenage mothers are "piling up problems" in the country's inner-city areas, Tony Blair said

@Clavinova I think you missed my question.

In 2015 in your opinion was it a problem for children to have a single mother? A simple yes or no will suffice.

Clavinova · 20/02/2023 21:55

Do you know the difference between bribery and employment?

Yes -

Me "Do you know the difference between bribery and employment?
@Clavinova Yes

Would you agree that secretly accepting money from someone and giving them for instance preferential treatment in return that others did not have is bribery? For example would my paying a purchasing manager to give my firm a contract to buy widgets count as bribery? (noting that these were substandard widgets at an inflated price)?

thiswasmethen · 20/02/2023 22:01

@Clavinova I was a single parent in receipt of benefits in 1995.

My first DH was killed by a drunk driver. It was all my fault though - right @clavinova?

F you and the horse you rode in on.

And anyone else who wants to bitch about single Mums on benefits.
Yes, even if you are the sort of person who says complete with head tilt 'oh but you weren't that type of single mother thiswasmethen.'

would it be hypocritical in your opinion to write a newspaper column about how there are too many people in the world and that birth control is important to then go on and have 7 or 8 children?

Perhaps - but Johnson didn't change his mind in the space of 3 hours - Alexandra2001 did.

As far as i'm aware, these women didn't have children from multiple fathers... try again...

Sorry for your loss, my partner died leaving me with an 11month old, my employer agreed to pay me FT for a pt role.. until they reached school age..., otherwise i'd have been at the mercy of the people like Clav, who are possess zero empathy or human kindness.

You were quite clearly posting about women having children with multiple partners.

LexMitior · 20/02/2023 22:38

Come on, he's sexually incontinent and his relationship with the truth is similar. It's a mark of just how deluded Johnson is that he is attempting to refashion the Conservatives again to his whims. Even if he manages it, the result will be the same. Because he throws anyone and everyone under the bus.

Politics is a team game. Johnson is not a team player. And I think his colleagues in and out of the parliamentary party will remember that.

ilovesooty · 20/02/2023 22:58

He doesn't have any relationship with the truth.

Anyone but the deluded and brainwashed knows that.

Clavinova · 20/02/2023 23:03

his relationship with the truth is similar

Personal life aside - I don't think Boris Johnson's 'relationship with the truth' is any worse than the average politician - it's just that he is scrutinised more and/or misinterpreted.

Starmer's mantra; "Honesty and integrity matter. You will always get that from me" is clearly nonsense. A few examples here:

order-order.com/2022/05/16/starmer-revises-count-up-from-6-to-15-attendees-at-beergate/

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/may/31/boris-johnson-dishonesty-keir-starmer-labour-abandoned-pledges

After we published this fact check, we contacted Sir Keir Starmer to request a correction regarding this claim.
Sir Keir did not correct this claim.

LexMitior · 20/02/2023 23:05

Well, I don't need to be quoted at. There's a whole book of Johnson's inconsistency on the table here.

When such a book appears about Keir Starmer, your point may be true @Clavinova. But not until then.

DuncinToffee · 20/02/2023 23:05

You might as well cut the crap Clavinova and just say that you agree and approve of everything Johnson says and does.

I can't help but wonder what Johnson could do that @Clavinova would not support. Thus far on this thread we have had examples of Johnson condeming children of single parents, Clav agrees, and yet Johnson has created several of his own, we have Johnson condeming people who have large families, Clav supports this, but it is fine for Johnson to have a large family. It is fine for Johnson to break the law, for Johnson to lie in parliament, for Johnson to lie to the Queen.

Is there nothing Johnson could do that this poster would condemn?

Clavinova · 20/02/2023 23:11

LexMitior
Well, I don't need to be quoted at. There's a whole book of Johnson's inconsistency on the table here

If I remember correctly, the book actually contains examples from multiple Conservative politicians, not just Boris Johnson, many of the quotes are duplications of the same facts, deliberate misinterpretations or ambiguous.

@Clavinova I must say you are certain to spot the duplications and deliberate misinterpreations being our resident expert in these things.

LexMitior · 20/02/2023 23:14

The point about Johnson is not a kind of granular what about this politician or that.

The more valuable exercise is to look and say, what did he deliver, in a statesman like manner, for the benefit of the entire UK?

Because that is the test for a great PM, not a hack.

And in fairness I think Johnson did one thing that meets this test. That was the development of a vaccine under his watch and getting some very good people to organise it, defend it and maintain for the UK.

The rest is noise.

@Clavinova - it is totally obvious that you do not know the book to which I refer.

But equally, what book are you referring to? You like quoting, so it's unusual not to see your source.

Clavinova · 20/02/2023 23:17

Anyone who thinks that Johnson lies no more than the average politician is either dense or deluded

Whatever Johnson says is picked through with a fine-tooth comb going back years - no other high-profile politician receives that level of scrutiny.

LexMitior · 20/02/2023 23:17

@jgw1 - yes it is a joke that everything he does is world beating. Eventually I assume as world King we will all be beaten into gratitude
