What did she want people to do?

Recently went to spectate at a sporting event and we got on the tram to get there. It was rammed, we expected it to be rammed. It's a busy event.

The tram was standing room only, and it was busy Ie sardines.

This pregnant woman was standing in the middle of the aisle she wouldn't move further down so there was a huge gap behind her. She didn't look that pregnant tbh, she kept shouting. im pregnant, I need space, you all need to back off, I'm pregnant I need a seat im pregnant I can't be touched
The only people sat down were kids and old people and the families didn't offer her a seat. The guard came down and told her she needed to move down into the gap or get off. She decided to get off and then asked if the trams were going to be busy all day?

She genuinely wanted random strangers to not go to the rugby because she enforced a halo of 'im pregnant and no one can be near me'

Surely if you're that precious about being pregnant you'd get a taxi?

Also it’s pretty outrageous to suggest she should ‘just get a taxi’.

Lol only on mumsnet is that an 'outrageous' suggestion. If I was struggling with heaving public transport, 'get a taxi' would be my first thought. I got from A to B by cycling when I was pregnant though.

Directed at you?! 😂

No but presumably posted by you, it's just such an odd thing to say.

‘Lol’ really 🤦🏼‍♀️ That tells me this discussion is pointless.

Hold on, should you not scour the thread for every poster who doesn't agree with you before you do whatever you're attempting here?

Well do you?

Aaand only on mumsnet is it acceptable to use silly acronyms like 'DH' but using 'lol' means that people will make daft assumptions.

People on here are so fickle. The op has come on here and said this woman was demanding a seat and saying for people not to come near her so people are commenting defending the pregnant woman. I can guarantee if the pregnant woman had come on here and started a thread on here how no one would have offered her a seat and everyone was standing near her and she didn't want them too, everyone would be commenting saying how entitled she was and just because she is pregnant doesn't mean she should automatically get a seat. 🙄

Spot on OP

@AllOfThemWitches I've just seen you cycling during your pregnancy.

That's great, but you do realise that your experience of pregnancy isn't representative of everyone's?

I mean, you already know the answer to that. However, I've been in lots of busy, crowded places, I've encountered many pregnant women and never have I heard any shouting like OP describes. If she was struggling to cope to the extent that she is shouting at people to back off, it's better for her and everyone else if she does not use the tram when it is 'rammed.'

When I live in Moscow my friend got on the underground with his pregnant sister and an old lady hit a younger man with her umbrella until he gave up his seat. Sometimes people need prompting, someone should have let her sit down

Priceless

Of course, it’s entirely possible she got on the tram thinking it and she would be fine, then found herself overwhelmed and panicked, at which point you can’t really “hail a taxi”, what with being on a crowded tram, in motion.

You can generally tell if there's a chance you won't get a seat, before you get on.

Multiple miscarriages
learning difficulties
worried she was about to vomit
suffers claustrophobia

just a handful of possible reasons

Oh that explains @AllOfThemWitches attitude then.

I was in a lot of pain from 17 weeks and had to stop work at 29 weeks because I can’t walk properly anymore. Wasn’t like this in my first pregnancy.

Good lord 😆 what exactly explains my 'attitude,' sorry? How on earth can grown adults struggle so much when others disagree with stuff they're saying? Like I say, if anyone can actually quote me being unpleasant, go ahead.

It doesn’t explain it

i had dream pregnancies but doesn’t mean I’m not fully aware that for some it’s a horror show of discomfort and anxiety

And again, where have I even suggested 'pregnancy is easy for every woman?' If, when attempting to insult or criticise someone, you are making stuff up, your criticisms simply aren't valid.

Ursuladevinia82 · 16/02/2023 13:58

@AllOfThemWitches

you are admirably a very staunch advocate for those with nuero diversities

Does this pregnant woman’s behaviour not conceivably indicate to you that she may be ND or suffering from a mental health condition

Mississippi6 · 16/02/2023 13:59

Very strange that all of these young kids and old people are off to a rugby game? 😂😂 And none of them got a cab- the preggers one should have. 🙄

Yes true, you’re right there.

AllOfThemWitches · 16/02/2023 14:01

Anyway, nothing will make me think that a jam packed tram is the best place for a woman who is anxious to the point of shouting at people to back off. I assume she got on when it was already busy as she was standing, rather than seated.

I have a profoundly disabled child who can't cope with busy places. I avoid them for his sake and for other people's.

A) perhaps wasn’t rammed when she got on

B) if ND or mental health issues, surely you can appreciate that logic may not always be at the forefront of your decision making?

as I say, odd that such a vocal advocate for those ND but on this thread - very close minded and she should have got off and got a taxi. Period
