To just leave this training now and die of shame?

I'm on a work training event. It's casual dress so I'm wearing black leggings. Anyway... just gone to the loo on lunch break and discovered that I've been walking around this morning and in the canteen area with a hole in the bum of my leggings! Not a tiny hole either - it's sort of medium ish. Very obvious. I feel utterly ashamed and to think of how many people this morning have caught a glimpse of my arse and not told me!? I've turned my leggings around in the loos as I can sort of cover the hole at the front but oh my god. I want to die of shame. Do I style this out or just walk out and go home now? 🫣

I'd use it as an excuse to go home, not because of any embarrassment, but because of the training you are describing.

Can you get someone to phone you and then you have to leave because of a 'domestic matter'?

mathanxiety · 15/02/2023 14:33

Get a black sharpie and colour a big patch of your butt where the hole is.

mathanxiety · 15/02/2023 14:34

Ahem, the hole in tbe leggings.

EnglishPearFreesia · 15/02/2023 14:34

So, unless you're 8ft 6, the blokes in the queue would not have seen the hole. Many lessons learned all round I guess, from doing a rear view in the mirror before you leave the house, to wearing black knickers under thin leggings. Lol

endoftheworldniteclub · 15/02/2023 14:38

It seems very dramatic to die of shame from a hole the size of quarter of a stamp on your leggings op.

FinallyHere · 15/02/2023 14:39

There were men behind me too in the queue 😬 oh the shame.

I'm sorry to sound a bit po faced , but in my world, there is really no shame attached to a wardrobe malfunction.

If anyone noticed, which lets hope they didn't, any shame would be on them for reacting. We as women are very quick to take the blame in this kind of situation don't let's do that to ourselves.

I'd style it out, not by drawing attention to it but by rising about it. Just don't notice and focus on what you are learning. That's what matters for you now.

Oh Bernadette. You are clearly not a Youth Grin

That is true. I am far from a youth. Oh to be young and have an arse that could be peeked at through a teeny hole in my leggings.

Bluebuttercupss · 15/02/2023 14:39

Once, the back of my dress was tucked into the waistband of my very thin tights. Managed a 10 minute walk to the train station before a lady told me. It's worse because I had put in a bit of effort that day and was doing my walk really thinking that I looked good lol. Now I know why people were staring 😂

FrostyBits · 15/02/2023 14:39

Everyone saying that if a woman saw it they would tell you, I know I wouldn't. I would be worried that the person who had the hole knew already and that someone drawing attention to it would be worse. Not saying you are, but what if the person owning the hole can't afford other leggings and this is the best they have. I just wouldn't want to say to someone you've a hole in your leggings in case it embarrassed them more!!!

Squirrelsnut · 15/02/2023 14:40

I walked across a packed lunch room once and my tube skirt fell down. I only realised when I felt a cool breeze on my arse.
Most of us have done similar or worse, don't fret.

TheBookAccordingtoIsaac · 15/02/2023 14:40

If it makes you feel any better, I once travelled across London with multiple changes from train to tube, up stairs, down stairs, only to be told by a stranger while exiting Victoria Station (2min from work) that I had a hole in my skirt. Stranger was being polite when she said it was a small-medium size hole. I checked it in the work toilets and it was large enough to fit my fist through and to show the style and colour of my knickers. Horrified!

Do you mean one of the big new postage stamps with the QR code?

😆

Life is too short for this. I once was in a party with a tight jeans skirt which sits straight when you sit on a sofa and everyone was seeing my pants. I was taken on repeated images and posted around by the old women. To this day it does not bother me, i had very nice orange pants, from the picture you did not see any hairs, the pants looked very clean under the skirt and anyway. Big deal

BeverlyHa · 15/02/2023 14:47

I am so bored with other peoples opinions these days that if someone does not pay my bills, honestly, they are the last thought in my value system; i work with clothes on the other hand and my coleagues and boss enjoy seeing me in a nice uniform , so i have always the balance

PurpleButterflyWings · 15/02/2023 14:50

🙄

woodhill · 15/02/2023 14:51

Have you got a jumper you can tie round your waist OP or a scarf even

HeadNorth · 15/02/2023 14:54

Well, the Style & Beauty Board could have told you that leggings are not trousers Grin your top should have covered your nether regions Grin Grin But in seriousness, I am sure no one noticed or if they did it will have hardly registered. Just keep going and learn from your heinous fashion crime.

Passthechocolatesplease · 15/02/2023 14:59

murasaki · 15/02/2023 13:16

Oh dear! In future, remember leggings are not trousers, they are basically footless tights and so need a tunic or dress.

This.

Always cover your bum or it looks awful.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 15/02/2023 14:59

If it makes you feel any better my DH once completely split the arse of his trousers getting out of the car before work. He had to slink in and stay sat down until lunchtime when he could get out for a new pair. He worked in an office of women too, thankfully nobody noticed but he had a "breezy" walk through town down to next for new trousers 😂😂

What on earth are you on about? You have a value system?

MyOldCaravan · 15/02/2023 15:03

To be fair, if you're wearing leggings without anything over them, then everyone can pretty much see your arse anyway. Don't think it's really suitable for work either.

Really don't get this as a fashion. It's not a good look on anyone IMO.

MourningTea · 15/02/2023 15:04

I think wearing leggings without covering your arse is grim enough in the first place, no one wants to see your camel toe or arsecheeks.
The amount of times I've seen through and saw knickers. 🤢

SuperSonicMonic · 15/02/2023 15:05

Don’t you have a mirror in your home? You must always, always, check what you look like from the back. Let that be a lesson learned lady!

SocialLite · 15/02/2023 15:06

I've done training with a physical element and still ensured the top of my leggings were covered. I'd only even consider not having a long top on if I was at an actual gym, going for a run etc.

I'm so glad to see lots of other people who also think it's madness to not wear a long top over leggings... They reveal FAR too much.
