Wonderful. Get it right the way up ye, you incompetent autocratic wee arse.

Couldn;t have said it better, @getitupyenic . Loving the user name.

AutumnCrow · 15/02/2023 11:16

Tissues out for Nic

Bitofhelpoverhere · 15/02/2023 11:16

NS was exceptional at marketing Scotland and herself. She was a brilliant communicator. And, sadly, in our media age, that is what gets people elected.

But good government is actually about competent administration. And on that she has failed on nearly every count.

Whatever you think of GRR, if you are a politician who's not right wing it's very hard to find a legal or moral reason to oppose it in the parliamentary process. That's why on a purely legislative basis all parties voted it through.
Opposing it looks incredibly populist and cynical especially on the part of the Tories who actually proposed it in the first place.
So it's a very easy way to put women leaders in an impossible position.

No, it's not at all hard to find a legal (equalities act) or moral (equality, dignity, protection, respect) reason to oppose it. People are no longer under the spell of the bigots who tried to convince everyone that opposition to the dismantling of women's rights was actually a right wing position. Many people see now that the GRR was indeed an extreme right position.

HashtagShitShop · 15/02/2023 11:17

Can she congratulate herself any more in this speech? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Puddywoodycat · 15/02/2023 11:17

Extremely happy she's finally going.

She's been a one trick pony who seems to put more of her energy into hating tories than making what she believes work.

Very limited compartmentalised brain.

Brokendaughter · 15/02/2023 11:18

Rood giddance to rad bubbish.

AnyFucker · 15/02/2023 11:18

Bloody hell, I will actually be glad to no longer have to hear this person speak.

Could she drag it out any longer ?

StuckWhereIAm · 15/02/2023 11:18

Hurrah!! Nothing else to say .....

MobyJeff · 15/02/2023 11:19

Whoop whoop! , 🎉

Puddywoodycat · 15/02/2023 11:19

Yy how many bicycles and we all know the extreme right and left also meet in the middle.

Redshoeblueshoe · 15/02/2023 11:19

WingsOverScotland are tweeting it's about the missing £600,000

Jaxinthebox · 15/02/2023 11:19

I used to like her. There were many policies I agreed with and some I 100% disagreed with. I thought during Covid she was great - compared to Boris and his nonsense.

The ferry scandal, GRC, financial handling of many things (NHS/Education) and then putting a male rapist in a female prison have all sealed her fate.

I suspect jump before pushed. Although doesn't bode well for Scotland as who the hell will step in now?

hamstersarse · 15/02/2023 11:20

I do agree with her about the life of a politician in these days of intense scrutiny and constant criticism. It must be unbearable for all politicians and I suspect only sociopaths have the ability to deal with it, which is no good for any of us

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 15/02/2023 11:21

There are at least 3 threads on MN about this right now.

HashtagShitShop · 15/02/2023 11:22

... Is she really trying to claim her/the parties decisions were largely fails just because people hated her rather than being bad ideas?

Rhondaa · 15/02/2023 11:23

God, she's a raging hypocrite. Wants everyone to be nice <paraphrasing> while she has spent the last 8yrs hurling vitriolic crap at Westminster.

Botw1 · 15/02/2023 11:23

@ICouldHaveCheckedFirst

So?

It's major news. Mn is a big sure with lots of sections. Should there be a limit?

CrotchetyQuaver · 15/02/2023 11:24

There had to be a reason I can only think she's jumping now as theses something bad going to come to light. We will have to wait and see...

I know! Isn’t it great to see so many people engaging with politics which affects all of us.

PatientZorro · 15/02/2023 11:24

Cheerio then Sturgeon. Couldn’t be more pleased to see the back of you. Don’t slam the door on your way out.

Butchyrestingface · 15/02/2023 11:25

Ladbrokes taking 10/1 bets that she's gonna greet.

Silvergone · 15/02/2023 11:25

Hurray, that was the last of the Trump-Johnson-Sturgeon combo that was all about divide to rule.

Perhaps one day we’ll have leaders interested in actually managing the country 😱

Rhondaa · 15/02/2023 11:25

Her own eulogy has gone on too long now. Off ya go Nicola.

BlackForestCake · 15/02/2023 11:25

OP can I ask, do you think NS ever had any interest in, or knowledge of, gender politics, or was it all a ploy to cause division with Westminster?

Alex Salmond said in a recent interview that in all the many years he worked closely with her, she never displayed any interest in that area.
