Be quiet? That you Nicola?

Shampern · 16/02/2023 11:36

Good riddance and not before time.

Far too mouthy shouty.

She’s not head and shoulders above any other politician.

shea demonstrated that she:

  • will not listen to her electorate
  • will put her obsession with independence above anything else
  • will not take responsibility for or address the many, very obviously failings of her government

Being a woman doesn’t excuse any of this. It’s not a witch hunt. Her performance has been abysmal.

The fact she’s very good at sounding like she’s brilliant and everything is great is not a good thing. Let’s not celebrate politicians for that.

This 100%. Symptomatic of the SNP as a whole. Great campaigners and woefully inadequate when it comes to governing or delivering public services. Its a real problem for Scotland that a dog with an SNP rosette would have got elected post 2014 - they’ve ended up with some really under qualified MPs and MSPs who simply aren’t up to the job. It’s quite embarrassing watching some of them under scrutiny in committee.

Yes seeing the info on here the SNP get away with campaigning but not governing well.

Oh be quiet

You are seriously telling a woman to wheesht?

Read the room.

Lucienandjean · 16/02/2023 13:35

I live in Scotland and I'm so delighted she's going. I literally danced with joy. She's ruined Scotland and fostered division and hatred. Good riddance.

I am delighted she has gone. Egomaniac, liar, rude, dictatorial and downright unpleasant

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 16/02/2023 21:34

Divide and conquer, once someone said,
Nicola listened and dissent was fed,
The pendulum always swings back,
She let let the women take the flack,
But women are strong, and we fight.
and we continue, after Nicola’s flight.

I’m really sorry she’s gone. She’s an amazingly talented politician who has worked hard for Scotland and has had incredible success at the the ballot box. The views on this thread are so weird, everybody in my real personal and professional life have express respect and admiration for her even if they don’t agree with her political views. GRR was voted through by a majority from all parties, only the conservatives voted mainly against.

Frabbits · 15/02/2023 10:14

Compared to fucking Liz Truss et al?

Yep, I've been paying attention.

Yes, significantly worse than Liz Truss, because she actually got to do some damage to people and to Scotland as she became more unhinged.

Who knows, maybe there is a future for Scotland where people don't get a penis stuck in them in women only places, and can't be arrested for jokes. We can dream.

Doesn't make the GRR not an awful bill or an objectively stupid political decision on Nicola's part.

Waitwhat23 · 16/02/2023 21:52

GRR was voted through by a majority from all parties, only the conservatives voted mainly against.

The SNP had to issue a whip for their MSP's to vote for the GRR and still faced their biggest rebellion in 15 years, with those who voted against being warned to 'consider their future in the party'.

Scottish Labour issued a whip for their MSP's to vote for the GRR Bill and still faced rebellion.

The Scottish Greens, who voted en masse against the six words amendment in the Forensic Medical Services Bill...well enough said.

The Scottish Lib Dems have a leader who 'did it all for Beth'.

The GRR Bill was an appallingly poor piece of legislation. So poor that the first time, Section 35 had to be invoked to stop it in its tracks.
