I know I can hide the sex topic, but that doesn't make the thread go away.

I think mn did have to delete stuff tbh, or they would have been accused of spreading disinformation.

I have had a look at the thread and tbh I'm surprised it's so long. I don't get it, men are generally quite shit at sex, can't imagine they are much better in text form

Actually they probably are, have only come two ahem that were good at oral. Probably much easier to talk a good game.

Obviously I know I can hide the board, which I have but agree with a PP about it appearing in Active Threads when it never used to. Also, I think it attracts dodgy men, who then spill over into other threads and disrupt them or try to silence the naughty wimmin talking about Important Things.

Tbh going on the stuff on that board, a vibrator is probably the more attractive option. So perfect advertising.

The men on that thread are probably talking to other men getting off on pretending to be a woman online. Makes it extra sad.

I didn't realise it existed and I've just looked, tbh I find it quite desperate that people would post on it. It's grim.

There have always been men on here and some have been fine and still are. Saying that, I am convinced the we've had a bit of a mini invasion recently. I know you can't always tell, but I genuinely believe some of the more offensive posts can't possibly have come from a woman. They definitely have a masculine energy to them. Some are outright MRAs.

Mumsnet is a full-spectrum (predominantly) women's site, though. That's going to include women who enjoy sexting with randoms and don't much care about infidelity. It's like complaining about the Doghouse when there are people elsewhere on the site whose children have been bitten by dogs

MRAs invaded a while back. They're determined to bring down mumsnet from the inside apparently. It's definitely got worse of late since the media attention of that rapist in Scotland potentially going to a women's prison.

I think reporting more posts might help clear them out maybe.

Those ladies presumably want to talk about sex so who is anyone to police it? I find a lot of things annoying but I don’t try to get them stopped. No one is forced to engage with these men. Some women like sex chat.

Ive never had PMs but tbh if that’s the worst case scenario, a few PMs from a creepy guy, I think I’m a big girl and can cope

Crumbs, I just had a look at that thread. Are the men not put off by how many other men are there? I mean, I can understand men wanting to talk about sex with women (even middle aged women who draw parking diagrams) but that thread appears to be crawling with men.

They should re-hid the sex thread. Its getting very, very boring being accused of being a man because some posters lack the imagination to understand that other women aren’t clones of them and do enjoy sex.

The sex topic would have fewer men gaze/dominated threads but some spiteful people keep getting any bi/lesbian threads deleted by…accusing people of being cheating men.

I haven’t looked at the sex thread. But there was a time when any pickup attempts by creepy men would set the klaxon off & MNers would have a whale of a time derailing it, usually with recipes and chat about animal reproduction methods <nostalgic>

MN is full of threads/topics that don't suit everyone, but there's obviously some sort of call for them, otherwise they wouldn't exist.

I know how to hide it thanks. I still think MN shouldn't be used by creepy men as a hook up site.

But unless these men are all talking to each other, it's obviously being used by creepy women too.

Therefore I think it's much better to have them contained in a topic that can be hidden.

I understand that it can all be hidden and nobody needs to read it if they don't want to. But it's still a strange use of the site IMO.
