Hmmm, whilst it’s not my cup of tea it isn’t illegal and Mumsnet (or posters) aren’t in charge of morals. You may find something distasteful but that doesn’t make it objectively so. So I don’t think it should be censored. I do read the sex board and occasionally comment. It’s just sex!

MN has been making lots of odd choices lately regarding moderation, adverts, pandering to men and misogynists. I wonder if their mod team and staff have been infiltrated again.

More sad than anything, either people are very, very desperate or MN is going downhill and allowing any old rubbish for the website traffic. I suspect a mixture of both.

It's because unfortunately mn is dying a slow death, fewer threads, views and exposure. I'm surprised it's been so popular for so long.

I think you might be right. Not a chance in ye olden days would MN have allowed a thread asking for sex chat to stand. Nor would Mumsnetters of old accepted it.

I had no idea that thread even existed before this thread OP. Nothing from the Sex topic seems to come up in active for me and I never visit it.

I've just had a look though and as much as I think MN is the weirdest place on the internet for such a thread, if the posters there are happy then I see no reason not to leave them be.

It doesn't bother or offend me. It's contained in a thread, it's not like there's creeps messaging us all at random. If you don't want to be part of it, just don't click on the thread (and I've never used it personally!).

Facebook though is full of creeps. I joined an adult jokes group a few months ago and I think the word 'adult' was like a trigger for some of the men on there, who thought it meant 'Send a dick pick to as many female members as possible'!

Idk why they had the bright idea to put sex in active, several threads have made me boak. They are alienating their core audience. I hope the lovely ladies in the feminism section have the sense to create a backup website.

I don't even think it's a mumsnet problem really, it's the fact every single topic has outside monitors, bots and ai and all sorts. Like when the pandemic was in full swing, dissenting discussions were deleted, bots aplenty screaming about poor nanna dying.

God help us when the new Internet safety thing comes in. Guess I will read a lot more books again.
