Going to get mine done for the first time ever this afternoon. I found out yesterday and have no idea what to get!
Mine are super short.
I want a little bit of length but what shall I ask for? What shape is current (but not cutting edge 😂)
I want colour.
Do you have to get them removed at a salon at the end of their life?
Help a nail newbie please 🙏😁

Why won't my pic show up?

I have acrylic extensions, they last approx 3 weeks, you do need to go back and either have infills or removal - don’t pick them off yourself because you’ll really damage your nails. I switch between oval and coffin but I think oval is less likely to snap- you may not have yours as long as me though

These are mine at the minute, probably an average length for me bit I have had them shorter especially when they were square, you get used to the length pretty quickly though.

You will need to either have them backfilled in 3-4 weeks or remove them properly by soaking them off in acetone, you can do it yourself at home if you feel confident but look up how to do it properly so you don't damage your own nail too much

Having my nails done is the one thing I do for myself every month. This months are very toned down compared to what I'd usually have, but we're off to Disneyland next month so will be having Disney themed nails 😄

Mine are just boring pink with a bit of sparkle in. I keep them short or I can’t do anything with them.
I have dipping powder and get them done every three weeks. Mine are about two weeks old at the moment.

Is gel a salon thing as well as acrylic? Can it lengthen them too? Mine are VERY short.

My latest set done this weekend just gone. They're my natural nails with builder gel and gel polish. I get them done roughly every four weeks (first Saturday of the month is nail day!)

When I started having them done monthly loads had broken and they were super short. It only took a couple of months for them to all get to this length and now I have to have them trimmed down each time.

Mine are natural nails with gel overlays, have to have them infilled very 3-4 weeks and removed at the salon if you decide you no longer want them.

These are mine, I do them myself. It’s biab on natural nails with my favourite nude gel colour and a bit of sparkle. I’ve had red glitter then palest white/pink since Christmas so I’m just after a natural look for a bit.

What appointment has been booked for you? You can't just walk in and have acrylics if you've been booked in for a mini manicure. They take different lengths of time.

As a first timer if your nails aren't too short and you have the option I'd go for your own nails with gel. Choose a colour and have some sparkle on the thumb and ring finger

So gel (aka shellac) is polish that’s been hardened with uv light so it chips less. Ideally needs removal in a salon (called soak off) you can remove it at home but takes a while and hard to get it all off IME.

I get gel because otherwise my nails chip within the first day or two, I am not careful with them!

Some people have home gel kits but you have to buy the uv light

Only way of making nails longer is acrylics but I wouldn’t if you’re new to it
