Going to get mine done for the first time ever this afternoon. I found out yesterday and have no idea what to get!
Mine are super short.
I want a little bit of length but what shall I ask for? What shape is current (but not cutting edge 😂)
I want colour.
Do you have to get them removed at a salon at the end of their life?
Help a nail newbie please 🙏😁

Thanks OP for creating this thread, and ladies for sharing inspo! I stopped biting my nails 6 weeks ago, and I'm finally able to have my first manicure in 20 years. Can't wait!

Mine are very short as I'm a nail biter but this is BIAB gel stuff on them and I don't bite with it on and it helps them grow.

These look magnificent, but genuine question…how do you function day to day with those nails? Don’t they get in the way?

I always have my nails short and I really can’t imagine how having such long nails isn’t basically disabling? Even the way I am typing this message I couldn’t do with long nails. How do you wash your hair, do up a button, rub a bit of sleep out of the corner of your eye?

Like mine short and neat. This is 'posh' by my gel. Lasts perfectly for 3 weeks.

I have tiny nails but think I would find extra length irritating - surely it gets in the way of doing things? I need to be able to so just get gel on my natural nails.

The bad news... Can't go today as my granddaughter is poorly. We are going to go next week instead.
I suppose it gives my nails a week to grow!!

This! Your nails themselves look lovely as they are, so personally I would just go for a gel manicure in a lovely colour/design.

Of course if you really want your nails to look very different to how they normally look then I can totally understand that you might want to add length.

i used to get acrylics before i had kids, id mainly just get a colour maybe with some glitter, but haven’t had them since having kids and my nails were awful after but i miss them😭(a few i’ve had before very plain but i loved them)

I normally have gel nails am having g a break so this is just Essie nail polish with base and top coat. Obviously won't last like gel but I love the colour.

I have a horse, do the odd day on the farms and work on cars in my spare time… anyone can have nice nails!

Here's mine, full cover nails with gel. My nail beds are extremely short and my nails are all wonky so it's the only way I can get length and shape.

You can have a picture of one nail i chose my best one the rest are embarrassing. Which has no varnish on it. In fact it looks like a toe but it is a finger.
Small nail beds, which makes putting varnish on eventful.

Your nails look very similar to mine. My short nails aren't down to animals or gardening but to no less than 35 years of an anxiety habit of biting the nails and cuticles. Then I suddenly stopped, or at least I'm cautiously hoping I have! I am utterly sick of having sore fingers and feel it's about time I stopped hating myself so much. So it's early days for me but one day I hope to have nice nails.
