Going to get mine done for the first time ever this afternoon. I found out yesterday and have no idea what to get!
Mine are super short.
I want a little bit of length but what shall I ask for? What shape is current (but not cutting edge 😂)
I want colour.
Do you have to get them removed at a salon at the end of their life?
Help a nail newbie please 🙏😁

Natural nails with gel, my nail salon use The Gel bottle. Love it!

Mine are just nude BIAB with some burgundy dots. I use a Glossify builder gel and do them myself at home. I can't really have bright colours for work, so the nude is my go to.

I have shellac or BIAB over my natural nails and I don't like really long, patterns or colours on nails so always have nudes, light pinks or French.

BIAB and gel polish. I do them myself.

I saw loads of women with nice nails and I wanted the same. I've been trying for a while but kept relapsing. A few tips I've picked up along the way is don't try to stop biting them all at once. Bite one or two and try to grow the rest. For me I kept biting my thumb nails and let the rest grow. Or alternatively try letting the little fingers grow, and then stop biting the 4th fingers grow, then the third fingers etc. If you can afford it, buy yourself a few nice nail polish colours but don't use them until all finger nails are growing. Put them someone you can see them though and it is good motivation to carry on. I also bought a fidget ring. It helped because when I wanted to bite (stress was my trigger) I played with the beads on it instead. I'll try to find a link to it.

But there are plenty of different brands that sell them and various styles.

I should have also added that I bit my thumbnails until the other fingernails had all grown, and then that was good inspiration to stop biting my thumbnails.

You can't really see the colour. But mine are a mauve type colour. It's BIAB

Prescottdanni123 Thank you for the great tips. I've just painted them mauve. It's mauve kiss by Maybellline. I wore it on my wedding day which was 6 years ago ... the last time I stopped biting and picking!

My nails looks just like yours, OP, some of these have made me want to go and get something done with them too. That green polish is lovely!

Infill appointment is booked in at the weekend haha..but these are my natural nails with BIAB and gel. Boring and plain but I get loads of compliments weirdly!

Could someone explain biab to me? Is it a type of extension? Clueless but they look good, and more natural than acrylics!

Biab is 'builder in a bottle'. It's basically a type of gel polish (that needs to be cured under a UV light to dry/harden).

Builder gel dries harder than regular gel polish, and gives natural nails more strength. It doesn't penetrate into your natural nail to strengthen from within, it's just like a hard layer on top, so is much like acrylics in that sense, but isn't applied as thickly.

I believe if your nail tech is skilled they can create extra length with builder gel, by using these nail forms, which are removed once the gel is hardened and can then be filed into shape.
